Wacky and Wacked Out Day

Oh, gorgeous Big Kittens, it’s been a trying day in a way. Not so much for this Big KitKat, but... sigh... for one of her publishers. Though, in truth, it’s not as big a deal as it seems.
Nope, dearest Kittens, the Dear Author website is not one of the Kougar’s fave places to hang out. Meow-yes, there are good helpful things addressed to some extent and some valuable info. However, there is a lot of sheer unadorned claw-nasty pettiness thrown in... who has time or even the stomach for it all? Not moi. She prefers a leisurely nap.
Awhile back it was the small print and e-publisher, Ellora’s Cave, being raked over the proverbial coals. A long, long while back Dear Author revealed the real names of the Triskellion authors, instead of using their pen names. That is simply not responsible. By doing that they could have endangered an author’s life. Yes, erotic romance authors can be stalked like everyone else, or every other author, which is why the RWA suggests using a PO box and never your actual address.
So, today was Siren’s day to be punished. Moi yowling-says punished because there was nothing remotely fair about how the review of one title was handled, nor the implications of that one review.
It’s one matter to fairly review a book and to shine a light on a mistake in publishing. It’s a whole other matter to impugn the reputations of other authors and the publisher they’ve chosen for their books, by failing to present an accurate and balanced picture of the company, and failing to offer a true assessment of the other available titles.
Yeah, yeah, gossip is the bloody meat for some. Not this BIg Cat. Truth is what she prefers to dine on.
Here’s moi’s comment on Dear Author ~

Savanna Kougar Says:

Okay, I’ll step into the murk of this, probably with no real good result, however. All of my books at Siren were rigorously edited, I mean, everything!!! How Trinity’s mss escaped that process I don’t have a clue. I spent a week to two weeks of constant intense going over my stories, line by line, before turning them back in to be published.
So, is anyone going to balance this review out by taking a fair look at what Siren has to offer?
Gee, I well remember a conversation on the Passionate Ink forum where another very high profile E-Publisher let a mss get by the same way. Okay, mistakes were made. Did that make the rest of the books offered bad by association?
Look, there are excerpts for a reason. Read the excerpts before you decide to purchase. I know that won’t eliminate every read that isn’t up to par, or one you don’t like, yet, it does cut down on the possibility.
Also, if I were going to let reading one ‘not good’ book stop me from reading I WOULD HAVE STOPPED READING BOOKS PUBLISHED BY EVERY NEW YORK PUBLISHER OUT THERE!!! Talk about bad! IMHO! Which is one reason I turned to e-publishing as an author. And, yes, I am an author.
Oooooh, my sassy felines, the Kougar claw-penned two additional flashies for NEW BULL IN TOWN, and will post them on the SHAPESHIFTER SEDUCTIONS blog Tuesday.
Mews blues and Authoress news, the Kougar was too distracted to work on BRANDED today. Moi also planned to promo her good review for HER INSATIABLE DARK HEROES... but that was a no go, too. Some days just blast apart whatever plans have been made.

Now ~ FIRST! just for the big cool cats ~

Happy Courtship on another Earth

X-Serial Flash in Two Hundred ~ Sylva and Zeke’s story continues....

Part 163 ~

Sylva walked arm-in-arm with her cowboy husband toward the landing. Her cowboy. She supposed if things continued as they’d begun... was it twelve hours ago... she would become accustomed to Zeke as hers. Hers. That would definitely be a dream come true, a dream she never realized she had. Nope, she’d never been ga-ga over a cowboy. Silly her. Or not, the cowboys on her Earth weren’t the same. Because men here were different. At least, in some ways. The ways a woman like her wanted. Needed. Or so it seemed. God help her, she hoped with all her soul.

Zeke cupped the nape of his woman’s neck and sipped on his ale. ‘Whenever I can take time out from ranch business I’ll show you the sights on my Earth. Do you like to travel, my Sylva?” She set her glass down on the rail’s holder and swayed toward him. “I’d love seeing the sights. I do like traveling, cowboy. Not as a way of life, though. Do you travel a lot?” Pleased as a stud nuzzled by his mare, Zeke answered, “Most trips are ranch-related or horse competitions. And only for a few days. I want time with you.”

When a man tells a woman that he is staying close to home because he wants to spend time with her, I call that love.
