Flash of the Right Hook

No, dearest KitKats, not as in a boxer’s winning right hook. Or a right hook that sends one brawler flying across the table in an Old West bar room fight. No, meow, not the right hook for catching that rainbow trout... or the right claw hook of a Big Cat catching her salmon dinner.
Today, Mima hosted Flash Fiction Sunday at
Liquid Silver SEx blog... for some great opening scenes in progress take a peekie.

Moi posted the first 100 words from BRANDED BY THE TEXANS ~

Tears quietly slid down Kylie’s heated cheeks. Shoving down the desperation she felt, she squeezed the bars of the jail cell harder. The cool metal heated rapidly as she watched her knuckles turn to a sickening shade of white.
Forcing her fingers to loosen, she prayed again, Please, please, get me out of here, God. From the moment she’d been arrested, she’d vacillated between downright panic and feeling surreal, as if she watched a movie unfold, one she didn’t want to see.
For the thousandth time, she asked herself how the fucking hell she was getting out of this mess
.

Commas, another name for insanity!!! The Kougar’s brain may be permanently discombobulated on the use of commas... or, so many styles, so little time... and this Big Cat never knows who wants what???????????????????????? Argh yoooowwwllll...
However, purring, so far, moi can’t complain about how her overall edits are going. Yep, still humming happily along. The Kougar can only hope this will continue.

It’s another WIP ... DEATH BY COMMA CONFUSION ~

She was so confused about the use of commas in her latest work-in-progress, the author poured herself a cognac. Standing next to a nicely crackling fireplace, she sipped to alleviate her confoundment and to forget her current crises. Describing her characters engaging in an act of carnal gymnastics proved to be difficult enough in its logistics. On top of that feat... oh where oh where to place the commas. Before his cock. Or after his balls. Between her breasts or between her eagerly parting thighs.
As it turned out the author’s portion was much too generous and her distress way too catastrophic. On the way up the curved staircase, her balance wavered for a split second and she tumbled backwards. Not able to snatch the bannister in time, the raking marks of her nails scored the finely polished wood. Too inebriated to cry out, she fell silently and cracked her noggin. A blessed unconsciousness overcame her almost at once. And though, she didn’t realize it, the author smiled with relief.
Lurking in the tall shadow of the smoking room’s elegant drapes, he observed her fall. He’d meant only to privately leer at her classical female form and perform a pleasurable handmade act upon himself. Yet, now the hand of Fate offered him a final solution, as if on an expensive silver platter. And he had very few of those these days, since his gambling debts were piled up to the very rafters and his life wasn’t worth a plug nickel. Not that he’d informed anyone of his pitiful debauchery in losing his entire inheritance.
What he did have, ready and handy, was his family’s heirloom cutlass. He’d secreted the prize that had helped win the family’s original fortune, behind the drapes knowing his elder brother would never discover it before he had a chance to sweep it beneath his handsome wool coat and scoot out the front door. The seamy private dealer had practically guaranteed him an impressive payment, enough to tide him over until Lady Luck kissed him on the cheek, once again.
Smiling at the arrival of a cold-blooded nature he never realized he possessed, he snuck toward his dozing elder brother. Well into his nightly cacophony of snores as he sat in his great chair letting the fireplace roast his toes, his brother’s head had awkwardly fallen to one side. Yet, it was still manageable. He knew it was. All he had to do...
Squinting one eye, he cocked the cutlass and calculated his strike. Perhaps it was his pirate genes. Perhaps it was his desperate need for survival that forced his hand, or both of his hands. He swung, feeling as if he knew precisely what slash to make across his brother’s flaccid throat.
Easy as slicing open a ripe cantaloupe, yet the spurt and gush of red blood excited him in a manner that was both cold-hearted and primitive. Stepping back quickly, he believed the magnificent spray of blood didn’t ruin his only acceptable evening attire.
A tiny smile of unmitigated triumph lit his face as his adrenaline poured with a lovely ferocity he’d never experienced. Even winning at the gambling table was no comparison.
Keeping to his plan, the rapidly strode to the quite drunk author, who lay limp as a well-used dust rag. Most certainly, her neck had been broken in that terrible crashing fall down the stairs. Taking the time to smear his brother’s blood on her clothing, he wondered where best to lay the cutlass, so it appeared to have flown from her un-clutching hand.

X-Serial Flash in Two Hundred ~ Sylva and Zeke’s story continues....

Part 246 ~

Sylva gazed back and forth, torn between watching her cowboy husband and keeping her attention on Marina and Grant. “Any idea what’s really goin’ on?” Marina loudly whispered. “I know Dad didn’t tell us everything.” Omygawd, now what? How much did she confide in Marina? Did Zeke want them to know about her Merlin heritage? Sylva certainly didn’t think so. At least, not yet. Still, what in the hell did she say? “What I know is that Ranson claims he has information about me. But that could be bait. Zeke told me about their days’ long mud brawl, the bad blood.”

Zeke eased himself onto the counter stool next to Ranson, positioning himself so he kept instant access to his pistol. “Beautiful bride, Zeke lad.” Ranson slightly swivelled his torso toward him. He still gazed straight ahead and kept his grip on his sarsparilla. “Never doubted you’d end up with a special woman. Just didn’t know she would be ‘that’ special.” He allowed himself a small dry laugh, then tossed down a few swallows of his brew. “I showed up to rectify my errors of the past. Plus, I’m damned concerned about your bride. There are those who already make plans.”

The Edit Cave ~ So far, so good...

Weekend salutations, my Big Lovely Kittens, the Kougar spotted this at Coast-to-Coast am. ~ and thought it was particularly ghostie cool.

Patrick Stewart, right, saw a ghost while performing Waiting for Godot with Sir Ian McKellen, left Photo: SASHA GUSOV

He saw the apparition while performing Waiting for Godot with Sir Ian McKellen.

Stage hands believe he saw the ghost of John Baldwin Buckstone, who was actor-manager of the Theatre Royal Haymarket in the mid 19th century and a friend of Charles Dickens.

Upon coming offstage for the interval, Stewart told his co-star that he saw a man standing in the wings wearing what looked like a beige coat and twill trousers.

Sir Ian asked him: "What happened, what threw you?"

"I just saw a ghost. On stage, during Act One," Stewart replied.

Meow, yep, moi is in the edit cave for STALLION OF ASH AND FLAME, and so far, so good. The good-purring news, the editor particularly liked the ending and she also stated that she had a hard time putting the story down. Always music to an author’s ears.
~~~
Oh, KitKats, moi accidently frightened a big ole’ bunny rabbit when she went out to her van. Boy oh yowl, did that what tail fly up and bunny was off to the races.
Then, when she returned from her mailbox and got out of the van, there was a baby toadie... an adorable creature, who slowly hopped into the tall grass.
Hmmm... two hopping critters. Maybe, the Kougar needs to hop to... though, to what she has no clue. Boohoo... it rhymes... yes, it do.
~~~~~~

Via Google Alert, the Kougaress discovered the handle of the person who illegally uploaded her book to SlideShare, along with several other Siren-BookStrand books. It’s kelda222. It appears this person is in Brazil.
This Big Cat still doesn’t get it. Her book and the others are obviously published by Siren-BookStrand. What right does any person have to SlideShare them. By contract an author can’t independently sell their contracted book... so what gives? Other than it’s a total rip-off for the author and the publisher.

X-Serial Flash in Two Hundred ~ Sylva and Zeke’s story continues....

Part 245 ~

Sylva took several moments to scrutinize Grant as Zeke seated her opposite his sister. Grant was probably Zeke’s height. That’s where the two men’s similarity ended. He resembled, not completely, of course, but the actor who had starred in High Noon. Sylva’s memory hit a glitch. Gary Cooper. That was it. Grant had a stoic look to him, his gaze calm, yet with a mountain of iron behind it. He gave her a half-smile of welcome, his focus obviously on Ranson. In contrast to his deep tan, his hair, what she saw below his Stetson, shone a silvery blonde color.

Zeke made certain his Sylva was ensconced in the booth before straightening. “Be right back, darlin’. I see an acquaintance. Order for me, sis. And if you could help my wife, since she’s new ‘round here, I’d appreciate it.” Sweeping up his bride’s hand, Zeke touched a long kiss. Their gazes locked for a moment that felt like an eternity. Zeke pivoted toward Ranson, concentrating on the man, who by his body language already knew about Zeke’s approach. Though, he hadn’t glanced back. Zeke didn’t expect anything less. Still, it was good to know Ranson’s gunfighter instincts were still razor sharp.

Tearing the Sky Fabric

Ah, my adorable saucy-spirited Big Kittens, life is indeed a high strangeness, at times... as well, you know. Living on the tame prairie, the Kougar has seen and heard several UFO types of craft, different ones. Most of them this Big Cat believes are terrestrial, in that they are products of the Military Industrial Complex.
Just yesterday... around nine in the morning, the Kougar was awakened... one of those instances where she believes it is a divine appointment. To preface what happened moi will also say that about two weeks ago... around the same time in the morning she heard these odd-rushing whooshing machine sounds that zipped... and the Kougar means zipped at an incredible rate of speed... from east to west, then west to east... *whatever* zipped through the sky sounded higher in the sky than what moi heard yesterday.
However, the Kougaress has come to believe it was the same... most likely black project aircraft... only the one she heard yesterday flew lower and was closer. Whatever it was flew parallel to the ground and absolutely ripped the sky apart as if it was sheer fabric... that was the sound. *Whatever* it was flew at a phenomenal speed from east to west.
The Kougar’s mother also heard this craft, only she heard it twice.
Truth to snarl, it angered this Big Cat. Not the existence of the technology. Or its use. However, nobody is sharing this marvel. No, it’s being used and hoarded by a few who believe they are better than the rest of us. No, not for the sake of national security ~ that’s just the fifth avenue sell, the way to keep us all conned.
Everyday in every way technology invented by the common person, technology that would truly help all of us and make this a heaven on Earth, is suppressed. Inventors are bought off or their lives ruined, or they are eliminated. There is no way to keep track of all these sad and horrible stories since it would be 24 hour a day job.
If you want a history lesson on how and why this happens, check out the life story of Tesla.

UNEXPECTEDLY the Kougar received word that her Vampire Flash Fiction entry was indeed received by Absolute X-Press for their 1,000 word Flash Fiction Contest ~ and about to be judged along with the rest of the entries. The winning entries will be featured in a Halloween Anthology.

Here’s the first 100 words ~

Zhario of the Dark Server Unit

ONE
Zhario sniffed for the acrid bloom of scent that would rapidly lead him to the mutant he hunted. Hunted to extinction. He laughed inside at his own dark humor. He could hear the swine mutant’s heavy tread in a city alleyway, as he searched for prey, preferably a hapless human. But any stray would do. Covered by the night, Zhario swiftly unfurled his great black wings, and launched from the low rooftop. The odor of the mutant had peaked, meaning he’d sighted a victim. Diving, Zhario caught a yellowish flash of the mutant’s tusk. “Cupid, come back here. Cupid, please!”

X-Serial Flash in Two Hundred ~ Sylva and Zeke’s story continues....

Part 244 ~

Sylva figured her study of Marina was probably rude. Yet, the woman’s vivacious, larger-than-life spirit captivated her. She couldn’t help but contrast Zeke’s sister and the other people she’d met on this Earth, with those on her Earth. Most of them were lifeless in comparison, Sylva realized with a jolt to her middle. In appearance Marina was almost petite, slender in way that wasn’t like an emaciated super model. Her waving tresses were darker than Zeke’s and her skin tone was also darker, more olive. Her eye color was cognac rather than brandy, her lashes long, black and beautifully seductive.

Zeke felt like stud-tossing his head and prancing, as he brought his Sylva to meet Marina and Grant. His sister’s extra sparkly gaze meant she already liked what she saw of his bride. Halting at the booth, Zeke formally introduced, “May I present my wife, Sylva Kristine Woolridge Vintorr. This is my sister, Marina Freyah Vintorr Barclay, and her husband, Grant Iverson Barclay of the Barclay Dynasty.” Marina smiled with angelic sweetness and waved her arm. “Please, join us, Sylva. You too, dear brother. Don’t you look all shiny polished with happiness?” Zeke grinned. “With Grant’s kind permission, of course.”

Sky soaring smooch from the Kougar...

My Heroine During the Conflicts

Evening meows, my gorgeous KitKats, above is an artist's rendering of Atlantis at the bottom of the ocean. Moi could never discover the artist. This is definitely a Mars Rising day, even if the red planet isn’t rising. The Kougar has done claw and fang battle with e-swindlers. If any of you use SlideShare, or any site/forum/whatever that allows an author’s book to be downloaded or read in any manner, without proper purchase (you know, the money actually goes to the author and the publisher) ~ PLEASE DON’T. These sites are allowing authors to be ripped off big time.
Gee and roar, it doesn’t matter if you can prove you’re the author or that your book is available at the publisher’s site... and, thus not theirs to steal... well, darn it, they still can’t interfere with some criminal’s nebulous digital right. No, they don’t dare remove your copyrighted book.
No, this Big Cat Author is NOT JUMPING THROUGH SOME SORT OF STUPID ENDLESS MAZE OF HOOPS to prove the obvious. Whatever that particular crap Digital Media law is ~ the bottom line, it’s nothing but a fancy legalese way to rip off authors and others who write. It’s a way to steal from the artist, plain and simple.
Artists unite! Let’s take back what belongs to us and screw the Establishment!
A copyright is a copyright. Universal law is universal law. You sow what you reap. So once again, reap this you Scum Swindlers!

All rights reserved. No part of this e-book, audio book or print book may be reproduced in any form or by any means without prior written consent of the Author or Publisher, excepting brief quotes used in reviews, articles or blogs.
IF THIS DIVINELY GRANTED RIGHT IS VIOLATED IN ANY MANNER, THE PERSON OR PERSONS WILL KNOW IMMEDIATE KARMIC CONSEQUENCES. AND SO IT SHALL ALWAYS BE. AS IT HAS ALWAYS BEEN.

BTW... the Kougar has it on good authority her Spirit Animals will use their claws and fangs to properly chastise those in offense, including those who are responsible for such a reprehensible law... so, go ahead, scum swindlers, continue your perpetration under the pretext of obeying a bad law.
~~~~~~
My heroine during the Conflicts... Friday, August 28, the Kougar is blogging at THE PINK BLOG for Heroine’s Days.
Here’s the beginning ~
Sheriff Kalypso Sun Wing ~ Last Words, Maybe...
Carefully, Kalypso unfolded the old, 20th century notebook paper. The pages were stained by time, by her tears and by blood because her fingertips had cracked in the winter cold. Heaving in a breath, she read her opening words.
These are my last words, maybe...
Compelled to read what she’d written during the height of the Conflicts, Kalypso sank down into her favorite sunset-watching chair. Automatically, she opened her arm for Rhiannon. She was always the first one of Kalypso’s dogs to jump up for a cuddle.
“Guess what, gang,” she addressed the seven other doggie faces alertly gazing at her. “I’m now the Sheriff of fair New Atlantis. How that happened, I’m not exactly certain. Except someone has to do the job, right? And I am damn good with weapons.”
Bringing the pages to eye level, Kalypso sighed down to her soul and felt a sharp twist of pain. She’d realized decades ago, the agonies of her life would never leave. They would remain with her for as long as she lived, now much longer than she’d ever anticipated. She’d figured her life was over when the Death Monopoly, as it was called, had announced itself to the world. Like the most ruthless and bloodthirsty mafia they had surfaced and declared rule over the entire planet.
I will not survive for much longer.
X-Serial Flash in Two Hundred ~ Sylva and Zeke’s story continues....
Part 243 ~
Sylva loosened her hold on her cowboy’s arm after noticing how hard she gripped. “Do you see the steaming cup o’ coffee sign?” Zeke rumbled, amused. At her nod, he continued, “That’s the Diner. I think we’re just fine, darlin’.” Sylva heard his relief and decided he didn’t think anyone was gunning for them outside. However, she knew he was still concerned about what would occur inside. Keeping her tucked close to his side, he shoved open the door. The friendly clanging of a bell seemed to announce their presence. Trying to see everything, Sylva peeked from beneath Zeke’s arm.
Zeke took in the entire diner with one sweeping glance. Seated at the counter, Ranson swigged a brew and waited for him, his appearance calm yet on alert. To Zeke’s left, Marina and Grant were seated in the booth that gave the best view of Ranson. Without hesitation, he guided his Sylva toward his smiling sparkly-eyed sister and her husband, who casually rested his hand on top of his holstered pistol. “Hey, smarty britches,” Zeke called out. “Couldn’t wait to meet my bride, could you?”
Marina toothy-smirked at him. “Nope, beastly big brother, especially since you roped yourself a wife.”
Why the Mars Hoax?
Nope, the Kougar has not explored why there’s a MARS RISING hoax going on currently, one which she was fooled by for a time. It’s been circulating on the web that Mars is the closest to Earth since 60,000 years ago. And, yep, darling sassy Cats, moi did see Mars in all its glory back in 2003, as this article from ~ http://space.com ~ talks about ~
Mars Makes History: Closest to Earth Aug. 27
By Robert Roy Britt
Senior Science Writer
posted: 06:24 am ET
26 August 2003
As if executing a cosmic air kiss, Earth and Mars will come as close as they desire in the wee hours of Wednesday during an historical event that has captivated the attention of skywatchers around the globe.
... Mars rises in the southeast around sunset, your local time, shimmering like an orange star so bright it could momentarily be mistaken for an airliner on final approach. It outshines all other stars in the sky. Around 1 a.m. Mars is due south and high in the sky. It sets in the southwest at about sunrise.
~~~
Looking for the underlying significance from that great unconscious we all swim in and contribute to... what could be the reason for this hoax?
Traditionally, Mars has been known as the Planet of War. Down through the centuries there have been a monopoly of psychopaths who orchestrate and keep the wars of the world going when most of us on Mother Earth want peace. We want to live in peace. No, not on our knees as downtrodden slaves of the manor or of the state. But as free women and men who are responsible for our lives.
Mars Rising... the monopoly men are rising and the people of freedom are rising. A major clash is on the near horizon ~ as is evidenced by what is happening currently in our beloved country and in the world.

So, if you write in the scifi/fantasy/future subgenres of romance how do you world build a room? Obviously, rooms can take on a whole new view and a different meaning depending on the story. Really, rooms in these genres are only limited by the author’s imagination.

Crystal Kauffman and all the rest of us authors would like to know ~ what kinds of promo work? For the Kougar this means: How does she reach those readers who would most enjoy her books and be willing to purchase them?
If you have any input, ideas, etc., or just want to add your two cents ~ come on by and let us know.

~~~
Note: The Kougar had one heck of a time getting the next chapter of CURSES WERE STRANGE BEASTS to copy correctly and remain as she’d written it at Textnovel.com... a sentence changed places... the italics went wild... so now, she is wondering if her other chapters are correct. Not having the time, right now, to check that out, she can only offer apologies to the readers. There have been other times when moi has spent tons o’ time at TextNovel trying to get the chapter to come out as it should, also. Meow-arghhhh...
X-Serial Flash in Two Hundred ~ Sylva and Zeke’s story continues....
Part 242 ~
Sylva realized with a tingly thrill, she walked beside a man who acted like a gunslinger. As much as it excited her as a woman, and did it ever, she also felt deeply worried. For him, her cowboy husband. Right in that moment, she decided to learn how to take care of herself, and him, using the ubiquitous weapons of this Earth. She’d always believed in a married couple taking care of each other. Now was her chance to live up to that ideal. Letting herself enjoy his super manliness, Sylva also studied Zeke, taking note of his every glance.
Zeke intensely beamed his gaze toward any dark area that could be used to ambush them, as he and his precious wife strolled along the sidewalk leading to the diner. He’d let his protective instincts loose, to roam free as the ranch’s wild horse herds. His body was on high alert, taut as rawhide. In the blink of an eye he could put himself between an attacker and his Sylva, while drawing down on the villain. A movement caught his eye. A bird winged into the alleyway. Zeke thanked his lucky stars most people were still celebrating New Year’s day.
Sleeping Beauty, Talk About Curses
A yuck day, health wise, my Big Beautiful KitKats... the allergens are on the attack and coming for yours truly. But, write, the Kougar must... claws to the keyboard, she has revised another chapter of CURSES WERE STRANGE BEASTS for the Dorchester/Textnovel contest. Not only that, she just penned the next installment ~ Sleeping Beauty ~ for the on-going story at RomanticSynomous... and, she posted an entry on the Rites of Romance Chat Loop for Siren-BookStrand authors’ day.
Okay, meow... moi just doesn’t feel good. If she did she would yowl a bit about the curse of being Sleeping Beauty.
After all, a real prince, a man of integrity who kisses awake his beloved, having gone through all the trials and tribulations to find her. Yes, the much touted happily ever after is his and her reward. Yet, why would a woman be cursed to a death sleep just to gain her prince and happy ending?
Tomes, papers, articles have been written analyzing the underlying symbology. But, really, what’s true here? What if it’s not all about women and their lesser and passive role in society. What if it’s actually based on a true incident.
Yep, use your paranormal imaginations here. Perhaps Sleeping Beauty was rescued by aliens and it took them that long to heal her. Or she was taken care of by a fae race and this was the way they brought her back, in a sleep of forgetfulness...
Hmmm... and maybe magic lived in way we don’t understand currently. Or, a whole lot of us don’t understand because we were raised in the world of logic and machines and technology. We’ve been sold this reality... when it may not be reality at all, or merely a small slice and dice of it.
CHAPTER ELEVEN ~ Choice, Doll Face
He released his seat belt, a zipping snap of sound, loud in the following silence. Draping one arm over the steering wheel, his gaze penetrated like some sort of invincible steel weapon. “You aren’t infected with any venereal disease.”
“So...” Keziah shrugged, an exaggerated lift of her shoulder. “I don’t have a disease. What about that other horror, so often ignored, whenever ‘sex’ is involved?”
“What?” He bit like a hungry trout.
“Pregnancy!” she triumphed.
Who Rescues Sleeping Beauty?
Talk about a bad dream. This had to be one. Kallyn struggled against the choking fog, flailing her arms and legs. Over and over, she repeated, “I am the Guardian. The red diamonds obey only me... obey only me... only me.”
Someone roughly shook her body and Kallyn fought through the fog again. She attempted to force her eyelids open. She tried to call out. Yet, the strangling fog prevailed while someone continued shaking her shoulders, trying to awaken her.
X-Serial Flash in Two Hundred ~ Sylva and Zeke’s story continues....
Part 241 ~
Sylva inhaled a large breath and marched toward the lounge area. It wasn’t that she didn’t trust what Zeke had told her. She felt uncertain about her surroundings. The fish out of the pond thing. Plus, she never knew what was around the corner, not really. Who knew if Sally waited for them outside? Or Ranson searched for them now? Smiling at Bethanne, she asked, “Where do I stand?” Bethanne returned her smile. “I’ll just aim where you’re standing. With your arms extended. That’s it. Give me a slow rotation, please.” Sylva turned and ignored an attack of severe impatience.
Zeke sauntered closer to the display window. Keeping his stance casual, he surveyed the surrounding area. With the sun lowering, elongated shadows crossed the street and a golden sheen had taken over the town. There were several blind spots now on the way to the diner, mostly darkened entrances to the alleyways. Seeing his brother-in-law’s sky car atop a nearby roof, Zeke’s tension eased some. Because of the stylized brand emblazoned on the door, created by Marina and Grant, it was not to missed. Hearing his Sylva’s light step he spun around. “Time, yet?” she asked. Zeke offered his arm.
Silver Angel ~ What’s Great About this Cover Art...
Oh, my adored Big Cats, the moon was a gorgeous silvery white crescent in the twilight sky. Then she hung lower in the night sky having become a Halloween orange.
~~~
What’s great about this cover art? No, not the heroine’s cascading abundance of platinum tresses, the likes of which this Big Cat girl has never seen in reality.
Okay, meow and rub, the hero is a sexy enough fantasy.
What’s really great? Why is this KitKat gleeful and giddy? It’s the heroine’s thighs. Talk about a real size and a real shape, even if they are still on slender side... purring-wowee and yes, give this Romance Kitten more, more!
Truth and confession... moi is utterly nauseated by all the skinny thighs on romance novel covers these days. Not out of jealousy. Not as a put down of any woman’s actual shape and figure, either.
Let the Kougar put it this way, if she were a male she wouldn’t be dating women with thin swan-like thighs. Not attractive to her aesthetic sensibilities or her sex hormones, at all.

Johanna Lindsey. Silver Angel.
New York: Avon Books, 1988.

Kidnapped and sold into slavery, Chantelle Burke was led into the Pasha's scented chambers swearing she'd never surrender to this ruthless master. But she was stunned by the magnificently handsome man who awaited her amid the silk and splendor. His piercing emerald eyes held her in their power; his muscular embrace made her weak with desire even as she defied him. She was his to do with as he would. Yet this mysterious stranger -- whose eastern garb concealed his true identity -- touched her only with tenderness, driving her wild with new sensation, his scorching kisses igniting the fires of her very soul...and sweeping her beyond the harem walls into a palace of love's eternal dream.
OR!

Abducted and sold into slavery, Chantelle Burke has been brought to the palace of a mighty Pasha. Vowing never to bow to this ruthless master's will, the young Englishwoman weakens within the silken splendor of his chambers, and after one glare into his piercing emerald eyes.

The stunningly handsome Pasha is a powerful, muscular figure yet he caresses the lovely addition to his harem with a fond tenderness that only succeeds in driving her wild. But beneath his exotic eastern garb, the cryptic Pasha shrouds his true identify - one that he finds difficult to conceal when he wants so much to surrender his heart and soul to the irresistible Chantelle

X-Serial Flash in Two Hundred ~ Sylva and Zeke’s story continues....

Part 240 ~

Sylva wasn’t certain she should have said all that. But there it was. And he’d asked. Lowering her gaze, she offered. “As long as it’s safe, yes, why not?” Feeling Zeke’s intense gaze, Sylva slowly raised her face to him, again. “It’s merely a resonance reading of your body’s outline. There’s no penetration by frequencies, if that’s what’s botherin’ you, darlin’.” Sylva couldn’t help but give him a smile. “On this Earth I can believe that.” Just to satisfy herself, she added, “I don’t think any technology that interfered with the longevity of people would be allowed, would it, cowboy?”

Zeke shook his head ‘no’. “Absolutely not. Whoever perpetrated that fraud would be shot dead in no time. And faster if it harmed womenfolk.” Dang, if he didn’t feel like reaching for his sidearm now. Instead, he brought her hand to his lips and pressed a kiss. “I’ll be waitin’ right here. Won’t take but a few minutes.” Reaching down for her shoulders, Zeke caressed, then gently faced his wife toward a small lounge area. “See that camera-looking machine, darlin’. You just slowly turn a full circle. That’s all there is to it. Bethanne makes certain the image is complete.”

Lindsay, everyone has beautifully expressed what's true about your heroines and your skillful brilliant writing.
One reason I find your heroines so appealing is because they represent their times in the sense that they overcome and live, not merely exist. And they are tough, physically and mentally, or they learn to be.
Thanks for sharing Ahhotpe. She's a wonderful anti-heroine! And she's so Egyptian. You must have lived during that time.
As women why shouldn't we write what we know... ourselves.
I have to agree with Linda. It's really tiresome when the focus of a story or a movie is solely on the man or men... which occurs all too often, imho.
Oh, big deal, who cares about fiction that constantly makes the male sex the center of the universe. Why isn't woman and man, as portrayed together, the center of their universe?

Weekly Angelic Forecast from Volcano

Straight from the Carnal Cherub himself...

Angelic Forecast ~ #51

The next week will be interesting to say the very least. It is likely that there will be a memorable event. On a personal level this is a week to simply take as it comes, then deal to the best of your ability. Often, the actions to take will become obvious shortly after the event has taken place.
On the world stage there are events shaping up which have been created to act like a three-ring circus. You can’t watch all the rings at the same time. It may be wise to notice what takes place, yet remain distant and use your logical discernment as well as your spiritual discernment.
Take care this week. An event may catch you too unaware.

Flash ~ After the Kiss

Oh, most delightful Kittens, talk about a flash. Sunday is here and gone. All in a flash of time. Whiz. Bang. Thank you, ma’am. That’s how the days are going. Though, not always with a thank you. Geez and meow.
Today, Roscoe James, not only hosted Flash Fiction Sunday at the Liquid Silver SEx blog, but presented flashies of his books... kisses and so much more!
Thusly, the Kougar followed his lead ~

From moi’s current WIP ~ BRANDED BY THE TEXANS ~ the after affects of the first kiss...

“I’ll bet you say that to all the women you kidnap.”
“Never kidnapped a woman. Never roped another woman ” Dillon halted. “Well, dang it, there was Velda when I was twelve. I was practicin’ with the loop. She happened along saying she wanted to be roped. Offered to be a calf.” Dillon repressed a chuckle.
Kylie regarded him dubiously as Diamond picked up her pace. The trail had straightened, gradually sloping downward following the immense valley on the left hand side of them.
“You kissed her, didn’t you?”
“Several times. Then, and later. I hear tell she’s happily married now.”

Remembrance of their hotter-than-sin kiss hardened his loins and traveled up his cock. He ignored it, keeping his gaze trained on her face.
“Happily.” She slung the word at him like a whip’s lash.
“You don’t want to be happily married?” Dillon turned the tables while his insides soared. With her feisty spirit she’d rein them in like they needed. He didn’t own any illusion that he’d be stud dominant with her during their lovemaking or whenever she stepped out of line. Still, he and his brothers would do good with a woman directing them at times, like all men.

“Happily married,” she spat, venomous as a baby rattlesnake. “I don’t know many people who are actually happily married.”
“It’s required here.” Hellfire, he’d just opened another door to the differences between their Earth dimensions.
“Required?” She cocked her head, more adorable than his pups. “How does that work?”
Dillon decided on bluntness. “If you’re not happy after a year, you can choose another man. That’s our way here.” Her eyes widened like saucers. “Yep, there are a lot of differences in culture here.”
She scowled, her eyes stormy. “Like abducting women. And,” she huffed a determined breath, “spanking them.”

X-Serial Flash in Two Hundred ~ Sylva and Zeke’s story continues....

Part 239 ~

Sylva had always gone into orbit, as her mother would say, over the type of forties swinging dance dress that was being held up before her. By her own eye, she figured the dress would fit her well enough. Julia Roberts-woman smiled, knowing a customer when she saw one. “If you’re agreeable, Mr. Vintorr, this frock could be sized perfectly for your wife. I could also have our designers custom-create as they often do for your mother and sister.” Zeke gave her shoulders a squeeze. “A word with my wife,” he politely drawled. “Of course, I’ll go wrap these two.”

Zeke moved before his Sylva and tipped up her chin. “We have a technology here that takes your size. A three-dimensional shape.” As her eyes widened with speculation, he grinned. “No, not nude. It’s like a mannequin, only in a seamstress program.” She raised her brows, her gaze playful. “The rich and famous probably have their own cyber mannequins on my Earth. I kind of ignored all that. On purpose.” Zeke studied his wife’s expression. “Why?” Her eyes flickered, sadness in their depths. “The truth, it was too depressing. Seeing all that wealth when so many of us were poor.”

Creepies

My sun-loving Big Cats, what an outdoorsy day for the Kougar. The sun shone in a lovely blue sky. There were some fluffy adorable clouds. The air was on the delightfully cool side.
This Big Cat worked in the yard pulling up plants and cutting down those in the way... a big achievement, given moi’s health has not been up to the task before. Maaoowww, it took its toll, but it was worth it.

~~~
The creepies... not the Halloween creepies just around the Autumn corner... though, the Kougaress can feel those heebie jeebies... oh, shudder and fright!
No, something terribly creepy is in the air. Moi hopes it will not come about... the vibration is of the very air being rent, torn asunder in different directions... a totally nightmarish scene ensues... instead, may peace and love abound for All.
~~~
If you have a yen for the whole idea of time travel as a reality, then Search Engine the name, John Titor. This is simply a fascinating story unto itself, true or not. And a lot of the predictions are coming about, though some of them not in the time frame stated, yet it is close. It’s been awhile since the Kougaress has read John Titor’s responses to online questions. He claimed to have been from the year 2036. This is one of those stories which simply has to be experienced and judged on an individual basis.

X-Serial Flash in Two Hundred ~ Sylva and Zeke’s story continues....

Part 238 ~

Sylva took in the dreamy concoction of lace and floaty fabric. Maybe there were places to wear a dress like that here. She had to assume that was true. “What do you think, my Sylva?” her cowboy asked. Subtly, he caressed the top of her hand. “It’s beyond lovely. Of course, I’d like to wear it.” Tilting her head, she smiled at him. “Where do women wear those dresses?” Humor lit his eyes before he threw back this head, laughing heartily for a moment. “I’m sorry, darlin’. You caught me off guard. I imagine Dad is appreciating mother in one now.”

Zeke considered his Sylva’s expression to be priceless. “You dress for dinner?” she asked. “Most evenings. Tonight they are probably dining in the patio garden or picnicking on the hillside that overlooks the house. Is there another frock that pleases your eye, my Sylva?” Her eyes widened as if he’d offered her something impossible. However, his woman came through, remaining true to her feminine nature. “The sun yellow one is beautiful,” she tentatively answered. Bethanne immediately moved to place the white frock on the hook and retrieve what was called a dance-swinging frock because of the fluid skirt and sleeves.

Tuesday ~ Lindsay’s Heroines
Moi’s comment mew-sings ~

The Release of SILK AND STEEL by Lindsay Townsend

Oh Kittens all, who adore historical lust and love, especially in the time of ancient Rome, this is the ebook for you! No one does it better than Lindsay Townsend.
The Kougar has read the two excerpts featured at Siren-BookStrand... let’s simply meow and yowl a big X-cited yum of approval ~

Blurb ~

Decimus buys beautiful, red-headed Corinna from Silvinus Cato, a nominal Christian and her cold Roman master. Corinna, also a Christian, is terrified to be sold to a hired killer but finds Decimus to be an honorable, caring man - and overwhelmingly sexy.

Their lovemaking introduces her to passion she has never known before, and love-spanking that she finds deeply erotic. Happy for the first time in her life, she is horrified when her former master, Silvinus Cato, comes to Decimus' house with devastating information. Decimus, whom she is beginning to care for deeply, has killed Joseph, the holy man who converted her to Christianity. Silvinus Cato says she must be like Judith in the Bible and kill Decimus in his sleep. Corinna is appalled and suspicious. Why does Silvinus Cato want Decimus dead? And what should she do?

Yes, my loveliest KitKats, the Kougar has become delightfully spoiled by the sunsets on her tame prairie. They seem like gifts from the Divine. The luminous wash of colors from her panorama view range from sheer tints to flaming neon. In a world of craziness and ever-increasing insanity, the Kougar’s very being is indeed, grateful.
She is also grateful for the small bounty of her tiny garden. Tomatoes, monster cucumbers, finally some green peppers, jalapeno peppers and her adorable baby pumpkins, which have taken over part of the fence.
Maybe next year moi will be able to improve her set up and grow even more fresh veggies and fruits... purring maybe.

Omy, omy, the Kougar is listening to ‘VAMPIRE CHICKEN’ a song by an actor in The Green Mile, Doug Hutchinson, who has created an internet vampire series ~ Vampire Killers ~

Two Colorado earthquakes recently in the Pike’s Peak area that didn’t appear to make the national news... one was over magnitude three and the other over magnitude four... hmmmm...

Just for the cowboy lovin’ big cats ~ a sneaky peekie THE LAST WRITTEN PARAGRAPHS-snippet from BRANDED BY THE TEXANS...

“Hey, beautiful, there’s a message arriving.”
She nodded, her cheek brushing his shoulder. Straightening away from his chest, Kylie felt him lift her before him. “Bathroom,” she murmured, spinning around.
He caught her waist, so fast it stunned her briefly. There was no way to fight his Titan-muscled arm, either. “What?” she demanded.
“Not too long, darlin’, or I’m coming in after you. I like you sittin’ on my lap.”
Defiance flared hotly inside her. “It takes as long as it takes.”
Drawing her backwards, he nuzzled behind her ear, near her lobe. Sensually, he stroked his nose along upwards and Kylie shivered inside, adoring what he did to her. “Not too long,” he rasped. Lazily he nibbled down the side of her neck, then slowly removed his arm.
“Now that’s persuasion,” she muttered, moving away from him.

Happy Courtship on another Earth

X-Serial Flash in Two Hundred ~ Sylva and Zeke’s story continues....

Part 237 ~

Sylva glanced around avidly as Zeke followed the owner toward the display window. “A girl in a candy shop,” she answered Zeke’s inquiring gaze, smiling. Despite the looming situation with Ranson, Sylva figured she may as well enjoy while she could. Besides, a part of her just wanted to live a little. Okay, a lot. She’d always had a yen to live life to the fullest. She’d even given it her best shot. Yet, somehow she’d always fallen short, no matter how many times she’d picked herself up, dusted herself off. Yep, life on her Earth was out of kilter.

Zeke eyed the frothy pink frock that looked as if a breeze could carry it away. His Sylva would look divine wearing it. Subtly, he nodded to Bethanne and she placed it on a separate hook. “I believe this is the white lacy one that caught your fancy, Mr. Vintorr.” With a proud smile Bethanne held up the gossamer floating frock. “This is one of Victoria’s designs. I believe it would fit your wife perfectly, if I’m any judge.” Zeke grinned to himself at Bethanne’s pretend modesty. She had the best eye he knew for what fit a woman’s figure.
