What do you do when a you get a phone call saying that your house has successfully been demolished? For Al Byrd, shocked was the only word that could come to mind. Led by an inaccurate GPS device, Georgia’s finest demolishing crew wrecked the house Byrd’s father built, almost 60 years ago. “It’s just incredulous that something like this can happen and no one contacts the owner,” Byrd said.

Oopsie... so sorry, our bad... that is the GPS went bad...
Gee, did anyone bother checking the actual address? You know numbers and letters that actually match each other... duh, the computer told us to do it and we did it. Yep, Hal of 2001: A Space Odyssey, is in charge, it seems. And we, it seems, have no way to pull the plug.
Get a claw grip, tech like GPS can be a good thing. It can also be a terribly bad thing with a potential for abuse so mammoth it defies the best futurist or sci fi author in its scope. A little ole’ example. Say, someone has it in for you. Maybe another rose grower is so jealous of your roses they see green. Yep, just call in a demolition order and, oh, oops, give them the wrong GPS coordinates. Okay meow, a bit far-fetched. Still... what could the bad guys among us accomplish?

Just for the cowboy lovin’ big cats ~ a sneaky peekie X-snippet from BRANDED BY THE TEXANS...
“Oh, more,” escaped past her lips and her own moan caught in her throat.
“Sure, sweet thang.” For a long moment he gripped her butt tightly. Her ass tensed in response as she bathed in the pleasure. “That’s it, babe.” He lessened his hold, his thumbs brushing over the top swell. Slowly he stroked, pressing deeper.

X-Serial Flash in Two Hundred ~ Sylva and Zeke’s story continues....
Part 167 ~
Sylva gazed at the deep dark night and the brilliant sprinkling of stars. A sense of peace filled her until her cowboy noticeably stopped, then looked down at her. “Is something wrong?” He shook his head minimally. “No, just checkin’ for possible varmints.” He pivoted beside her, caressing her upper arm. “What time is it?” she asked as he gently propelled her forward. “It’s close to dawn, darlin’. How are you feeling?” Sylva wanted to tell him how safe she felt in his manly care. But she didn’t, frightened by the thought it would suddenly vanish like a dream. “I’m fine.”
Zeke kept his vigilance, his hand poised above his sidearm. A small wind brushed around them. The night-foraging critters hurried toward their hideaways and the air suddenly chilled. “We’re in for a rainstorm. Probably come in a couple of hours. We’ll be snug asleep, my bride.” Zeke whipped around at a rustle of sound, his gun drawn, his body a shield for his Sylva. “Zeke.” Harold emerged and tipped his hat. “Headed toward my air auto. Congratulations on your marriage.” Zeke remained on alert, hollering, “Have a safe trip.” Easing back beside his bride, he traveled his gaze around them.

Sylva is wondering how much better can this get? Zeke is wondering if he's going to get them home in one piece. Interesting place Earth II.

:-0 "I swear, the GPS made me do it!" ~kitteny grumble~ Morans! I love technology, but really that is taking things too far!
Ah Zeke, what a man! Protecting his woman and look, not a GPS in sight!! LOL
Gem ~ thanks for Cat Nip. Luv visiting that world.
Earth II definitely has its challenges!
Serena ~ yep, GPS can help save your life, or you can end up driving off a cliff like one man almost did.
I've always found it a mystery how much people actually think computers can do no wrong and trust tech no matter what. However as my manager way back when I worked at Park College said, "Garbage in, garbage out."
On Earth II universal GPS was never allowed. However, privately coded systems are.
