Fireflies and Lightning

This evening, my Big Sassy Cats, fireflies and lightning in the darkening sky. It was an eerie and stirring sight ~ watching the lightning flash above the clouds while bolts of lightning struck in the distance... while fireflies... they are also called lightning bugs, flashed in concert and at odds with the lightning. This Big Cat has never seen anything like this before. It was exceedingly cool.
~~~
Oh, KitKats, what an unexpectedly busy day. Wooweee-meow! And, here, moi thought she’d have a good long day of paw-penning BRANDED. Purring-okay, she did have a part of day and got some good writing done.
~~~
Respect, my Big Cats, as a romance author, the Kougaress thinks it may be highly over-rated. What does moi mean by that? Notoriously, society, in general, has considered the romance writer to be ‘less than’ ~ ‘not as good’ ~ or, even ‘you’re not a real author, are you?’ ~ That look, or words which suggest those words when you tell someone your profession, or that you’re an aspiring romance author. Heaven forbid. Oh, the complete horror. Why aren’t you a real novelist? You know, the ones that write unhappy endings.
Yeah, right, an unhappy ending isn’t as formulaic as a happy ending. Make me believe that one. Naw, this Big Cat girl ain’t buying it.
Still, on the whole, the Kougar thinks it’s preferable to be disrespected for a couple of good reasons. One, romance novels sell statistically better than other types of novels. Two, it goes like this ~ asking for respect from a person determined not to give it, never gets respect... even demanding respect doesn’t always work. For a crude example: if a slave asks an owner for respect... well, you get the picture.
Yowl, to simplify, respected books sell, but do they sell as much as romance novels? If you are about being respected, write those books. If you are about writing love stories with happily ever after endings, then, be a romance author.
Respect ain’t everything it’s cracked up to be... sometimes.

Why this topic ~ Judah Raine wrote a brilliant blog that inspired it at the HAPPILY EVER AFTER blog.
Here’s a snippet ~

For my part, I love romance. I believe in it. I love reading it and I love writing it, and I know I’m not the only one. So I’ve decided to throw it “out there” for the rest of the romance world to grab hold of. Welcome to my Bloghogger Challenge! Pop across to my home blog at:
http://judahraine.com/romancewriteup/?p=638 and read the “I read Romance – and I love it!” post, then take up the challenge. Okay, so maybe it won’t change the course of the known universe overnight, but it could be a lot of fun trying…

Litter of lynx kittens heartens Colo. biologists
June 27, 2009 4:54 PM EDT
DENVER - The discovery of 10 lynx kittens this spring marks the first newborns documented in Colorado since 2006, heartening biologists overseeing restoration of the mountain feline.

The tuft-eared cats with big, padded feet were native to Colorado, but were wiped out by the early 1970s by logging, trapping, poisoning and development. They are listed as threatened on the endangered species list.

Biologists found no kittens the past two years, possibly partly because of a drop in the number of snowshoe hares, the cats' main food source.

This year, seven male and three female kittens were found in five dens.

More than 200 lynx from Alaska and Canada have been released in Colorado since 1999. Biologists don't know how many lynx are currently in the state.

Just for the cowboy lovin’ big cats ~ a sneaky peekie dialogue-snippet from BRANDED BY THE TEXANS...

“You’re one of those dominant men who think they can just get their own way, whenever they want.”
“Guilty, darlin’. But I bet you’re gonna enjoy it.”
“My fist is aching to sock your jaw. A big mistake, probably. I’d only crack it on that granite-like jaw of yours.”
Her tone pounced on him.
“Why, thank you, for the compliment, sweet Kylie.”
Her fuse flared, bright and hot. Her body was sinuous as flame against him.
“You’re probably just as savage and primitive as the Vikings.”
Her scathing charge tickled him. His wildcat woman would probably attack him if he gave her half a chance. Dillon figured he’d do just that, when the time was right. Their sex was bound to be sizzlin’ hot as firecrackers.

X-Serial Flash in Two Hundred ~ Sylva and Zeke’s story continues....

Part 182 ~

Sylva stroked and sinuously danced her tongue with her cowboy, passionately tasting him. As it began, the sumptuous kiss ended, a lazy parting of their lips. “Sylva,” he whispered. With slow tenderness, he released the back of her head and straightened. His brandy-colored eyes shone at her and the depth of his emotions moved through her like a shock wave. “Cowboy, coffee tastes good on you.” His grin traveled through her, simmering her loins. “I’ll bet a lot things taste good on you, my Sylva.” She flushed inside, her sex warming deliciously. “Want some coffee?” He lifted a silver pot.

Zeke added a touch to his mug, then raised his brows. “No, thanks.” She shook her head. “You’re revving me up enough, handsome.” When she reached for the plate of sliced fruit, he felt relieved. Delicately, she plucked up a peach slice and nibbled, her gaze on him, her eyes alight with her new feelings for him. Finished, she eyed him directly. “Now, tell me what’s going on.” Zeke cupped his mug in his palm, regarding her. “An old rival of mine, Ranson, looks like he’s headed this way. Long time ago he got the worst end of a mud brawl.”

I'll bet a lot of men have gotten the worst of it when they mudbrawl with Zeke.

~chuffing and eye rolling~ Yeah, respect and romance rarely go hand in hand...then if you happen to let the words erotic romance slip by, well you might as well have told them you just joined the porn business. When people ask what I do now, I respond with what makes me happy! :)

Oh my the lightning and fire-fly's sound cool! I bet it would make for a great picture.
