Romance Novel Forecast for the New Year

Hoop-di-doo and smooches to you, my Beautiful Big Cats, yep, we’re moving into the New Year and the full moon is rising for New Year’s Eve.
2010, the year of fiercest yen to pen romance novels... but, what will be the trends?

Here’s *part* of the post the Kougar wrote for THE PINK BLOG, titled ~ Forecast for the New Year, 2010.
Also, included in this post, scheduled for Wednesday, the 30th, is ~ Volcano’s Angelic Forecast for the New Year, 2010 ~
So, if you’re into forecasts, spin a limb, dear Kittens, and come on over.

Romance Novel Forecast for the New Year ~

For all of us romance authors, this year offers us an expanded voice, meaning we will have the opportunity to grow and show off our individual storytelling voices in wonderful and exciting ways that were previously not available.
The romance genre, itself, will expand beyond the expectations of most, with the themes of the Aquarian Age becoming the fastest growing trends.
Whatever makes the reader feel good and takes her above her troubles, as in the feel-good movies of the 1930s, will become more and more popular. Think elegance, supper clubs and dressing to the nines.
Romantic comedies and those stories with comedic elements will also be in demand. However, the real opportunity is for a different take on humor, for example, the sophisticated comedy meets life in 2010, or life in the future and on OtherWorlds.
Everything retro, from Regencies to Westerns, will continue to skyrocket in popularity.
Historical romance novels, especially those with paranormal elements, from magic to shapeshifting, will know a significant rise.
Space Opera romance novels fused with other subgenres, I predict, will become another shooting star, as well.

Happy Writing in the New Year!

Authoress news and mews ~

Posted by the Kougar at HAPPILY EVER AFTER ~ Romancing the Muse with a Flash ~ here’s the opening...

I’ve discovered that my Muse appreciates being romanced, at times. Not exactly surprising for an author of erotic romance. Still, if I don’t pay proper attention to what my Muse is offering me, she gets temperamental, understandably.

X-Serial Flash in Two Hundred ~ Sylva and Zeke’s story continues...

Part 366 ~

Sylva rolled over to gaze at her cowboy husband, compelled by the tone of his voice. His body appeared too still as he continued staring up at the sun. “What’s wrong?”A moment after she’d asked his gaze returned to her, dark with concern. “Silver sun. There’s a prophecy called the Silver Sun. And, so far, darlin’, everything has happened just the way the prophecy foretold.” Sylva turned the rest of the way around. “I assume it’s not a good prophecy.” Zeke took another long look at the sun before facing her and answering. “It’s the foretelling of an ice age.”

Zeke wished he didn’t have to tell his precious bride about the prophecy. Not now. Yet, to do otherwise, would be worse. Her trust in him could waver. He couldn’t afford that. Not with his heart already roped. Not if he hoped to build the kind of relationship his father had with his mother. “A bad ice age?” she asked. “I’ve heard there are mild ones.” Once again, he scrutinized the appearance of the sun. The thin barrier of clouds caused the disc to appear like a silver shield. With the amount of rain they’d had, it didn’t look promising.
