Flash ~ Women of the West

Good evening, my Loverly Big Kittens, for a bit of realism, how women were actually treated in times past, and how they coped ~ trot on over to Flash Fiction Sunday with Gem Sivad at the Liquid Silver SEx blog ~ the Kougar added her own flashie titled ~ Sunday Rose ~ and thoroughly enjoyed her brief trip back to the Old West, including all the memories of the TV Westerns... yep, a reference to Miss Kitty in Gunsmoke, one of the longest running westerns.
Purring of... moi is claw-penning her own Western, set on a parallel Earth...titled ~ BRANDED BY THE TEXANS... on this Earth, in the same time period as now, Texas is a sovereign nation and the citizens intend on keeping it that way, no matter the cost. Freedom and independence have become the backbone of the society. Their way of life and their liberty are as important as the air they breathe. After all, Daniel Boone and his descendants began the sovereign Lone Star Nation, along with other notables like Kit Carson and Davy Crockett. Yes, those at the Alamo won the battle with the assistance of Spanish-Indian Revolutionaries, who battled for control of Mexicali against the despot, Santa Anna.
Rugged independence balanced with neighborly support, and freedom is the lifeblood of the Texas Republic. The exception... the capture of available women, no matter where they come from.

From Wikipedia ~
One tale tells how Crockett greeted a crowd on his way to Congress. He bragged, "I'm that same David Crockett, fresh from the backwoods, half-horse, half-alligator, a little touched with the snapping turtle; can wade the Mississippi, leap the Ohio, ride upon a streak of lightning, and slip without a scratch down a honey locust [tree]."

X-Serial Flash in Two Hundred ~ Sylva and Zeke’s story continues...

Part 57 ~

Sylva clutched the door frame. Her eyes opened widely as alarm slithered up her middle. Why had Zeke drawn his gun? He didn’t appear overly concerned, sauntering toward the front door, the gun held casually near his hip. “Delivery?’ he called out in a friendly, yet stern manner. “It’s Gary. New Year evening to you, Mr. Vintorr.” Opening the door, Zeke placed his gun on a stand that looked like it was used only for that purpose. He took hold of what looked like a picnic basket. “Gary, how’s your Pa doing with that grey stallion I sold him recently?”

Zeke smiled easily, yet keenly regarded Gary, waiting for his answer. He made it his business to do whatever he could for those who purchased the ranch’s horses. ”Couldn’t be better. Pa says Regado’s training is comin’ along right on schedule. You wanta give a look, make sure everything is there?” Setting the sturdy basket down on a small table next to his gun stand, Zeke parted the flaps, quickly perusing the contents. “Looks good, smells even better.” Gary grinned. “Congratulations on your marriage, Mr. Vintorr.” He bobbed his head politely, then headed down the steps. Zeke faced his bride.

That was a wild, wild, western get together yesterday. Thanks Savanna for sharing Sunday Rose with us.

Whooee, when you read real life accounts of the non-rights of women, it's a wonder any husbands survived to procreate.(Women should have thunked them in the head!)

I think the frying pan was one thunker used... and the rolling pen.
