The Biggest Pirate of All

Warning, darling Big Cats, fierce snarling rant ahead ~
For the last several months there’s been a lot of ebook piracy exposed, especially by the authors who discover their books being downloaded illegally from these sites. As ebooks become more and more mainstream, this kind of piracy will most likely continue, especially with the economy the way it is.
Now, a little side issue... the Kougar just heard a report that stated those most likely to illegally download music, are the very people most likely to spend the most on music. How that figures moi isn’t quite certain, except that some people may want a sample first, then they go for a more high quality download. Maybe...
Meow-back to ebook piracy... while this is a concern and needs to be stopped wherever and whenever possible, as moi understands it, these are generally people who wouldn’t pay for a book, anyway. That is not an excuse, of course... and, maybe, there are those who want to sample an author before they purchase their backlist. Maybe... ?
Truthfully, the Kougar doesn’t fully understand the psychology involved, except if you’re poor... well, moi does understand that having experienced it. There are also some people who view ebooks like print books. They buy a print book, then give it away after they’re finished. That’s one book, NOT however many copies can be generated from one ebook.
Nevertheless, the real top major mega criminal in this whole piracy scenario... GOOGLE. Google is one of the biggest pirates on the planet. With the claim that they legally own every book before January 2009... how is that? Except they’re big enough to get away with it. Or the ole popular maxim ~ might makes right. Moi can understand books which are no longer copyrighted. Sure, why not make them available to the public? The Kougar considers that a good thing as long as any remuneration they come up with in the future actually reflects the monies spent.
However... and it’s a BIG HOWEVER!!! Google is a mammoth-sized pirate ~ own the world’s oceans and blow away the competition, an evil vampire pirate who sucks the life out every working author with no conscience, a carpet bagger on super steroids who is willing to make anyone walk the legal plank to their shark-eaten demise ~ that is, compared to anyone on the web who offers pirated ebooks.
Now, truthfully, the Kougaress is not concerned about Google wanting her ebooks. Though, a copyright is a copyright, isn’t it??? Anyone of us who would dare violate anyone else’s copyright would likely be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law... but, gee, it appears Google supercedes the law... why is that? How is that? How did it even happen? Or, more to the sword point pressed against the bad guy’s throat, why was it allowed to happen?
And, you know what, sadly, the time has passed when Big Government would have stopped Googles’ more-than-despicable and hellish trespass against all of us. Yep, now they are discreet lovers... shhhh... no one is supposed to know they’re in political bed together. Yes, during the after-glow of satiation and curling cigarette smoke *they* ~ black ops-owned Google and the Bankster-owned government ~ plan their new world literary order and empire. Heil Google. How high are you going to make everyone goosestep?
ONE CAVEAT ~ most of the folks that work for and support Google are just like you and me, good people trying to live good lives and do good things. They aren’t the enemy.
Okay-roar and a slash of her incensed tail, the Kougar could rant on... but, no, this is enough. For now.

Part 129 ~

Sylva let her eyelids flutter open. “I feel drunk on you,” she whispered. Floating her hand up to his face, she caressed the hard plane of his cheek with her fingertips, dampened by his bucking exertion. Lifting her head, held tenderly by his hands, she sought his lips, kissing him with the soft happiness of her heart. It was a sumptuous sweet meeting of their mouths. Their afterglow embraced them and lingered their kiss. Sylva nuzzled him with her face. “Now, I am thirsty,” she murmured, beginning to feel awkward. How did she act? Sylva’s insecurities raised their ugly heads.

Zeke fondled his woman’s mouth for several moments, his thumbs stroking the sides of her face. Her honeyed warmth toward him flowed from her limbs as if she stood outside in the cold. “Thirsty,” he repeated. Slipping his palms down to her shoulders, he claimed her back tenderly bringing her with him as he lay beside her on the divan. “Hmmm... I can remedy that, darlin’.” He pressed a kiss to her forehead, still glistening from their incredible passion. “Just give me a few minutes of recovery time. The bronco gave his best ride.” She softly nodded. “Yes, he did.”
