A Touch of Fantasy Costuming

Halloween-arriving yowls, my beautiful and sleek-fierce Felines...autumn-warm and a touch of wind and rain on the tame prairie today... awhirl, yes, that is the Kougaress, always spinning through her writerly biz day.

A Touch of Fantasy Costuming... ooooh, this Big Cat adores dressing up for Halloween, or dressing up for any party occasion, in period/historical and fantasy costumes, according to her whim and pleasure. Anything from a black cat girl to a gypsy fortune teller to a Renn Faire fairy princess to a Siren sexpot... to... purrs, the possibilities are endless, and endlessly fun... and truthfully wearing the costumes moi designed often felt more real to her than the reality of this world... because our culture is much too restrictive, dull and gray and, overall, just no fun.

She used to wonder why this was true and chafed against the senseless oppression and suppression she experienced daily... however, these days, she wonders no more. The answer has become nearly crystal clear as to why many of us crave fantasy costuming.

The why of it... let’s explain it this way... during the medieval period, peasants who were tall and strong and alpha, were killed off... thereby making it easier for those who ruled to continue ruling [as this Big Cat has mentioned before]... they literally killed off the competition and the gene pool. On purpose.

A ‘form’ of that practice continues into these times, and is evilly playing out. There are those who know how to psychologically cut us down to size... to cut WHO WE ARE down to peasant size.

Thus, our souls and spirits have been so deprived of simply being themselves, their true selves, the Kougaress figures this is one reason why there is so much fantasy play and costuming [other than the purely fun factor]... just for a time we get to experience the ‘possibility’ that we are, that we were meant to be.

Roars, consider comicon and all the other dress-up fantasy conventions... heck, look at Disneyland and Disney World, as more simple examples. In fact, everything around us is sheer fantasy... fashion, cars, TV and the movies, Gaming, the internet itself, and on and on.

With our true natures thwarted, humanity seeks any avenue for the expression of their inner self... and All Hallows Eve offers a respite, a relief for the soul and spirit, a chance to know more about yourself... your inner cravings. Costumes can tell us who we really are, that is, if we ran free in this world. In our precious world.

So, what is your fave costume, or your favorites? What is your whim and pleasure this year? Given the placement of the stars at this time, your costume choice could reveal you to yourself in profound ways.

Quoted from Astrology.com

Surprisingly enough the Sabian Symbol for the degree of the Full Moon is about self-discovery and finding your place in the cosmic order. It is about discovering your special gift and your truest and highest self and living life to your fullest.

And, what does the Kougaress want to be this year? Here’s comment she made on the current blog entry at THE PINK BLOG [for more info see below].

Ooooh, this year's costume... hmmm... I think a witch seductress in a long black velvet gown, adorned by glimmering gold and silver stars and crescent moons... with black spiderweb gloves encrusted with tiny rhinestones... and dangly, very long earrings that are glittery to the max.

Oh, and my cinnamon brownies were always a hit, but it was a recipe I threw together.

Congrats, Ladies, on your anthologies and cauldron fulls of sales.

He just looks good, especially this time of year.

You might as well nail Jello to the wall... moi heard that expression today... just too tingly cool and must be used, or a variant, thereof.

1:11 am... 2.12 am... 2:12 PM... 5:55 pm... 12:12 am... 1:11 am... 1:23 am... the veil is not only thinning, it is lifting permanently...

Authoress news and mews ~

Yes, twitch a tail, Kandy and her hellhounds *knock on wood* are running for the finish line, though, it’s still a good distance away... but, oh! Those black dogs of myth and lore and Samhain are showing up to help the Kougar out, and keep her inspired.

Lix Tetrax was tired of being summoned, willy-nilly, to harm her sweet Mother Earth. She was tired of being unable to utter her true name, but instead having to go by the demon name bestowed on her by Nathanael in a fit of vengeance. All because she’d refused to bare him a child.

PUMPKINNAPPER - Regency Halloween Comedy and CONTEST
by Linda Banche

Halloween is coming!

Let me tell you a tale of a love triangle: man, woman and goose. Join the fun as Henry the man and Henry the goose spar over heroine Emily's affections while they try to capture the foul (or is it fowl?) pumpkin thieves.

BLURB:
Pumpkin thieves, a youthful love rekindled and a jealous goose. Oh my!

Last night someone tried to steal the widowed Mrs. Emily Metcalfe's pumpkins. She's certain the culprit is her old childhood nemesis and the secret love of her youth, Henry, nicknamed Hank, whom she hasn't seen in ten years.

Henry, Baron Grey, who's never forgotten the girl he loved but couldn't pursue so long ago, decides to catch Emily's would-be thief. Even after she reveals his childhood nickname--the one he would rather forget. And even after her jealous pet goose bites him in an embarrassing place.

Oh, the things a man does for love.

EXCERPT:
"Emily, even with Henry, formidable as he is--" Hank glared at the goose. The goose glared back "--you need protection. I will send over some footmen to guard the place."

"No. Turnip Cottage belongs to Charlotte's husband. What will the townspeople think, with Lord Grey's servants about my house?"

Her refusal increased his fury. The sight of her hand on that damned goose's head didn't improve his mood, either. He balled his fists as his patience thinned and something else thickened. "I'll find you a guard dog. You must have some protection out here all alone."

"But I have Henry." She patted the goose's head and the bird snuggled into her hand. Again.

Heat flooded Hank, part desire for Emily's touch, and part desire to murder that damned goose, who was where he wanted to be. His insides groaned. "Very well, then, you leave me no choice. I will help you catch the culprits."

"But--"

He changed his voice to the voice that either melted a woman or earned him a slap in the face. "Who knows, mayhap we would enjoy ourselves as I lie in wait with you." I would love to lie with you.

Her eyes widened. Had she understood the innuendo?

"I cannot stay alone with you, and you know it," she said, her voice severe.

"You are a widow in your own home and no one will see. I will make sure of it."

"No." She marched back into her cottage and slammed the door. Henry smirked and waddled away.

Hank grinned. He would be back, whether she liked it or not.

From Astrology.com ~

On Friday evening, October 22, a glittering Full Moon in Aries will grace the Northern American skies. Known as the Hunter's Moon, the Full Moon will take place at 1:36 AM Universal Time on Saturday morning and in the daylight hours in Asia. Interestingly enough, this is also the second Full Moon in Aries, following the Full Moon of September 23.

Full Moons always come fourteen days after the New Moon, completing the cycle of what was started around that time to come to fruition. This is a time for reflection to see what we have accomplished in the last two weeks. The Full Moon also signals the time for us to move forward with new goals and sometimes a totally new perspective.

The current configuration of the cosmos with the Sun moving into Scorpio, known for its relentless determination, on the early hours of October 23, will definitely bring about a change of mood which may be apparent. The Sun joins a powerful Mars in Scorpio, as well as a lucky, charming and seductive Venus also in Scorpio, so if there is a will to do something -- you will definitely find a way. A benevolent Mars and Uranus trine two days after the full Moon could also signal a time for new and exciting opportunities -- which may have been unexpected.

Surprisingly enough the Sabian Symbol for the degree of the Full Moon is about self-discovery and finding your place in the cosmic order. It is about discovering your special gift and your truest and highest self and living life to your fullest.

Happy Courtship on another Earth

X-Serial Flash in Two Hundred ~ Sylva and Zeke’s story continues...

Part 663 ~

Sylva glanced around again, noticing the stark contrast between what she’d been used to in a gathering, and what occurred now. “Yep, as a family we do enjoy each other. Don’t get me wrong, darlin’, we have our spats and arguments.” She nodded, then she yawned. It caught her unawares. “Guess, I’m tireder than I thought.” Taking her plate off her lap, her cowboy rose, gave her a grin and pivoted around. As she stretched, Sylva ‘enjoyed’ the rear view. God, he was just damn sexy. Sexy as all git out. Too sexy for what she’d call his dress jeans.

Zeke set their plates on his mother’s designated side table. Before he swung around, he snuck a peek at his bride. She lowered her arms from performing a stretch. He saw her weariness in every line of her beautiful body. Obvious as what was in plain sight, though, her gaze remained fastened on him, like a mare who’d decided on her stallion. He’d felt it as he walked across the room. He couldn’t have contained his grin even if he’d wanted to. His sister flicked him a knowing glance, then resumed flirting with her husband, teasing him with a biscuit.

Mmmm...dressing up for Halloween, I love to do that! One year, I was a hippie. I had real daisies in my hair and a full fluffy shirt, it was definitely me!

I also adore dressing up as a gypsy and a witch.

Now for for the after hours Halloween, well a devious devil or sexy siren is soooo the way to go! ;)

Serena, don't you just love that, dressing up in ways that express who you are?

I love dressing up as gypsy fortuneteller and my idea of a witch.

Devious devil... hmmm...
