Part 2 ~ From the Kougar’s WIP ~ Secret Lives of Fortunate Wolves

Noticing his dashboard display clock, Keira grabbed opportunity. “I was supposed to be at Diane’s shop in half-an-hour now.”
“Diane Griffith?” Perfectly smooth, he pulled out onto the highway.
“Yes! You know her?”
“Just to do a little shopping. Gifts,” he explained. “Are you one of her suppliers?”
“She likes my jewelry designs. They’ve been selling.”
“You can give her a call when we get to the Half Moon, Keira.”
‘Goddess! His voice, pure black magic.’
“Thanks. No need for everyone to worry. Since I’m safe.”
‘But am I?’
She stared straight ahead at the rain, still a gully washer.

Listening to the wipers swish, Keira wondered if this was another bizarre crossroad in her life. Her life had taken those turns before, but this felt even stranger. Somehow.
“Why is your cousin, Rob, up this way?”
“You’re gonna laugh. I hope you’re gonna laugh. He’s hunting the American Werewolf, cameras in hand. Ever listen to radio? Coast-to-Coast? Art Bell? George Noory? Only this was a new show...”
“Ian Punnett,” he interrupted. “During night rounds radio is an officer’s best friend.”
“Rob eats, breathes, lives Cryptozoology,” Keira continued, glad her voice didn’t reflect her throbbing pulse.
“Lake Geneva, the sightings.”

“Yes, the sightings.” Keira tried a light tone. “Werewolves. They’re not just for Halloween anymore. That’s on Linda Godfrey’s website. Seen it?”
“Clever. No, I haven’t looked at her site. Listened to that show. It was quite the conversation in town for a few days, for us nighttime folk.”
Was that amusement she heard beneath his neutral tone?
“Figured we might get a few people up our way, hunting the American Werewolf, as you say, Keira. We can always use more guests. Helps the economy.”
‘You could be a male model. That would help the economy out. A whole lot!’

With some relief Keira watched as he slowed at the Blue Moon Bay road sign, then turned off the highway. “Anyone in town ever have a sighting?”
“Tales are told every now and then. Especially at the Ale House on spooky nights.”
“Ale House? Do you mean like a tavern?”
“It’s a stone building, built during the1800's by the same family that still runs the place. They brew ale, the old-fashioned recipes. It’s a gathering place for us, and used for town council meetings.”
“Grow up in Blue Moon Bay?” Keira asked, always fascinated by people’s life stories. Especially his.

“No. Close by, though. I visited a lot. I have relatives here.”
She heard the boyish grin in his voice, as if he recalled a good childhood. Un-tensing a bit, Keira let herself enjoy his expert handling of the car on the road’s winding curves. “Always want to be Marshall?”
“Destiny,” he stated with dry amusement. “Dad was the Marshall for most of my growing up. Then my Uncle and Aunt teamed up as the Marshalls. Later, my older brother. Now it’s my turn. Married, Keira?”
“No,” she revealed before she thought. “You?”
‘Crap, I feel stalked.’ Her breath stopped.

“No, Keira. I’m not married. I’m not engaged. No girlfriend. I’m not divorced.”
Stunned, she inquired, “Wow, aren’t the women just dripping off you?”
Keira squeezed her eyelids together. ‘I so wish I hadn’t just said that.’
“I have to chase off a few.”
A scene formed before her mind’s eye, a waking dream. A wolf, beautiful, primal, majestically male... he was circled by other wolves, all females... all waiting... all breathtakingly gorgeous and sleek. Whenever the females approached, he snarled and charged, chasing them back.
Keira jerked upright, pressing her purse against her chest like a shield.
“Yes, Keira.”

His voice touched every fiber of her, black magic. Wolf magic.
Frozen, and wondering if she would ever unthaw... maybe she wouldn’t have to... he’d just devour her... Keira managed to turn her face toward him.
“Been sighted lately?” she asked.
He laughed. Or male-howled with laughter.
“No, my Keira,” he finally answered. “However, a few of the brethren could have been sighted. In their transition. Or while playing wolfen tricks on the humans.”
“Human is not a real good thing to be right now, is it?” Keira unfroze enough to sink down in the seat. “Planning on a meal anytime soon?”

“Only if you join me. And not as dinner, Keira.” He paused while his wolfen magic bewitched her. “My fairy-delicate, Venus-lush Keira.”
“My Goddess,” she muttered, slumping lower, even as she noticed the lessening rain and the quaint town with lovely old architecture they now approached.
“Dinner, Keira?”
The balance of the world seemed to spin around her answer. Still, the balance belonged to him. The arrogant male wolf. Male Werewolf.
“Why not?” She tried to breathe more easily. Tried to un-clutch her bag, even though she didn’t have one silver bullet, or a gun, or a silver-tipped anything inside.

Maybe none of that would protect her. Anyway.
‘Silver forks at dinner?’
“The Half Moon is on the other side of town, the outskirts.” He’d spoken normally, as if her whole world hadn’t just TV-channel switched to an X-files episode she suddenly rememebered, Scully and the Werewolf Sheriff.
With her breath threatening to storm out of her lungs, Keira snuck a peek at him. “Would Rob have been anyone’s dinner?”
“A bear maybe. Spotted a few new ones lately.”
“Running as a wolf?” Keira figured she might as well continue taking the werewolf by the furry dangerous, if gorgeous tail.

“Yes, and on night patrol. Had some reports. I wanted to check it out. Silver bullets won’t kill me, Keira. Or a silver fork.”
His amusement too obvious, he waited, enjoying. No, enjoying tremendously, she decided.
“Oh, this just gets better and better. Werewolf and mind reader. Do you ‘mind’ letting me know what does work?”
“There’s only one way to kill me, Keira.”
Sadness welled up inside her. In her mind she saw him howl mournfully as a beautiful wolf, the full moon, radiant behind him. But, that was all.
“The Half Moon is up ahead. Stay close, Keira.”

More on the moon:

We just had a “wolf moon” on January 30. From the National Geographic site:

The 2010 wolf moon will appear 30 percent brighter and 14 percent larger than any other full moon this year, because our cosmic neighbor will actually be closer to Earth than usual.

The moon will be at its closest perigee—the nearest it gets to our planet during its egg-shaped orbit—for 2010 at 4:04 a.m. ET Saturday, reaching a distance of 221,577 miles (356,593 kilometers) from Earth.

At its farthest from Earth, the moon is said to be at apogee. Perigee and apogee each happen generally once a month, but the moon’s wobbly orbit means that the satellite’s exact distance at each of those events varies over the year. The moon’s phase can also be different during each apogee and perigee.

“This month has the largest full moon of 2010, because it coincides with the special moment when the full moon happens to occur on the same day as it is at perigee,” said Marc Jobin, an astronomer at the Montréal Planetarium.

- It occurs to me that this would be an interesting wrinkle on the werewolf theme. You could write a story where lycan powers are strongest during a wolf moon.

The Kougar’s comment ~

Hortense, I saw that utterly gorgeous full moon in the early morning hours. It sat close to the horizon, an unusual pale smoky gold in color. Around it, subtle shades of rose, lavender, maize and turquoise made up the sky. I stared, imprinting it in my memory because it was so absolutely beautiful!

X-Serial Flash in Two Hundred ~ Sylva and Zeke’s story continues...

Part 406 ~

Sylva opened her eyes, seeing her husband cowboy through the haze of pleasure. “Zeke,” she whimpered. The whisky coloring of his eyes smoldered so fiercely, Sylva felt utterly fascinated, even as she burned with the ecstasy of his slow penetration inside her. “Oh, yes, yes, that feels so amazing... the way your cock bulldozes...” His groaning growl interrupted her. “Bulldoze,” the hoarsely repeated. “The bulldozer,” she taunted with a sultry murmur. “That’s what I call this, the way you’re taking me.” Sylva stroking-massaged her cowboy’s butt harder. “Bulldozer, I like that, my wife.” he rasped, then thrust deeper. “Keep bulldozing me.”

Zeke kept bulldozing his beautiful woman’s sheath. “Keep glovin’ me, darlin’,” he growled, the sound rising from the head of his shaft like scorching smoke. A twinkle shone beneath the azure mist in her eyes. “Like this?” She clenched his cock tightly, a quick squeeze with her pussy’s hot silkiness. Zeke groaned, staring at her rapture-flushed face. “Now, that’s glovin’ me.” Her little nails sank into his ass as he drove his shaft deeper, feeling her sweet core. “Yes,” she cried out, “you bulldoze, I’ll glove.” Zeke nearly flinched with the terrible bliss of her squeezes, yet kept his languid rhythm.

Serena, boy did I have a great time writing this story... as far as I got... though, Zane is careful in his seduction of Keira, so actually, it wouldn't even be called an erotic romance, until later in the story than I've gotten.
