Love’s Philosophy ~ Shelley

My Big Beautiful Kittens, it’s been a super busy day, intellectually. The Kougar has followed and sniffed along several trails, one of them being the poems of the Romantic Poet, Percy Bysshe Shelley. In another life, while attending college, moi did a class paper on his poetry, since he was her favorite of the Romantic Poets. Read on, dear Cats ~

Love's Philosophy

The fountains mingle with the river,
And the rivers with the ocean;
The winds of heaven mix forever,
With a sweet emotion;
Nothing in the world is single;
All things by a law divine
In one another's being mingle;--
Why not I with thine?

See! the mountains kiss high heaven,
And the waves clasp one another;
No sister flower would be forgiven,
If it disdained it's brother;
And the sunlight clasps the earth,
And the moonbeams kiss the sea;--
What are all these kissings worth,
If thou kiss not me?

- Percy Bysshe Shelley

Since the Kougar is penning her hero POV story and since she is also blogging at
Happily Ever After on Wednesday... meow-thus, she will take a brief look at men as true romantics. If anyone ever doubts the romantic heart of a man read the Civil War era love letters men wrote home to their wives and girlfriends.

X-Serial Flash in Two Hundred ~ Sylva and Zeke’s story continues...

Part 66 ~

Sylva sat back, thinking deeply. “Are you saying it was burned down intentionally?” Zeke nodded ‘yes’. “Word struck like a flash flood that the high-ups who backed the bankers and those from the Jekyl Island conspiracy, the traitors to the Constitution, who brought about the1913 New Currency Act, were meeting with their Generals on how to crush the revolution.” Sylva could only nod. She was in a parallel world where another revolution had occurred after 1776. Shivering inside, she wondered how faithfully the Constitution had survived here. Obviously, guns were still part of the culture. “Your Chicago now?” she asked.

Zeke studied her eyes for several moments. “Today Chicago is the only prison complex on this continent.” She sat paralyzed, only her eyes blinking. “Oh,” she finally uttered. “Definitely not my kind of town... now.” She spoke a moment later, her tone lost and fragile. “Try a sip of the elixir,” Zeke tenderly encouraged. “It’s not water?” She picked up the glass. “Mostly water, darlin’. There are nutrients for superior digestion and health.” She barely lifted one shoulder in a shrug, then took a tasting sip. Then a much longer sip. “Lime with a hint of cherry flavor.” She smiled.

That is a beautiful poem! I will have to look up more of Percy's work.

Alanna, thanks. I'm re-familiarizing myself.

I also wrote a poem to go with it, posted on the Happily Ever After blog.
