The so-called sexual liberation...

Friday into Saturday maows, my purty, weekend-playful KitKats... another lovely and placid sunny day on the tame prairie... however, the critters are acting like it’s autumn, already.

Good vibes to everyone in Irene’s hurricane-path... take care, my darlings.

Authoress news and mews ~

Ever have one of those writing moments when a word sounds right, but somehow doesn’t sound right for how you just used it in a sentence? Well, as the Kougar was closing in on the end of her short story, the word ‘wracked’ showed up. However, instead of using ‘wracked’ as in ‘wracked with pain’ .... well, this Big Cat author ended up doing an i-search and found this via Googlie as typical examples... although, as it turns out ‘wracked’ has been used for sexual pleasure sensations as well.

Next to her, a young man sat on the kerbside, his body wracked in grief as he cried and cried. Wracked by conflict.

A Home and Protection...A Shelter in the Storm
by Serena Shay

Sakina flapped her wings in double time, knowing she had mere minutes before Ceallach was on her tail. Rooftop swoops allowed for the mixing of her scent with several other shifters in the hopes of throwing the single-minded raven off her trail.

How could he have found her? She’d used every technique for evasion in her very long memory. She’d done everything from changing the name she gave to other people to dying both her human hair as well as her feathers. And still he’d caught up with her.

The so-called sexual liberation...

Big Cat Note: The so-called sexual liberation of women has been a double-edged sword. Women have been horribly repressed sexually in the past, and in the recent past [and are still being repressed in brutal ways throughout the world]. This Big Cat grew up in that era of repression, and suffered greatly because of it. However, the soulless psychopaths globalists have coopted much of the women’s movement, and have, too often, redirected the sexual liberation into a ‘sex object’ culture. While agreeing with much of what this article talks about, the Kougar does not agree that it is as simple as ‘men’ editors being ‘afraid’. As this Big Cat has blogged about before, if women truly realized their power, their beauty, who they actually are at a deep spiritual level... well, our world would be transformed toward the GOOD in the blink of an eye. Thus, every effort is being made to keep women down and out while deceiving all of us into believing women are liberating themselves.

The Reason Things Seem Sexier Now
Friday, August 26, 2011

The portrayal of women in the popular media over the last several decades has become increasingly sexualized, even "pornified." The same is not true of the portrayal of men. This could be a reflection of what's happening to women's lives in this economy.

These findings may be cause for concern because previous research has found sexualized images of women to have far-reaching negative consequences for both men and women. Two sociologists studied this by examining the covers of Rolling Stone magazine from 1967 to 2009. Why Rolling Stone? Sociologist Erin Hatton says, "We chose (it) because it is a well-established, pop-culture media outlet. It is not explicitly about sex or relationships; foremost it is about music. But it also covers politics, film, television and current events, and so offers a useful window into how women and men are portrayed generally in popular culture."

After analyzing more than 1,000 images of men and women on Rolling Stone covers over the course of 43 years, the researchers came to several conclusions. First, representations of both women and men have indeed become more sexualized over time; and, second, women continue to be more frequently sexualized than men. Their most striking finding, however, was the change in how VERY sexualized images of women--but not men--have become.

Hatton says, "What we conclude from this is that popular media outlets such as Rolling Stone are not depicting women as sexy musicians or actors, they are depicting women musicians and actors as ready and available for sex. This is problematic, because it indicates a decisive narrowing of media representations of women."

This is especially odd because during this period, a record number of women became heads of government and business CEOs. Could this be due to a sense of fear and uneasiness on the part of (male) magazine editors?

BIG CAT SNARL AND SNARK ~

Gee, for the amount of pages, like in Time Magazine, and all the web news space devoted to saying over and over that Ron Paul, current candidate for president, can’t win... well, gollee darn, all that expended effort going on to convince us that Dr. Paul can’t win... yeah, hey, this Big Cat figures the establishment is running damn scared, and he’s got a real good shot at it. Any candidate who is truly willing to get rid of the Federal Reserve, a consistent stand Ron Paul has taken for years now, unlike Mr. Hair Perry, and just like President Kennedy planned on doing lo those many years ago... btw, JFK’s executive order is still technically in effect to end the Federal Reserve, but has been conveniently ignored... oh, and consider this, President Lincoln also had a plan to run an end around the Federal Reserve with his greenbacks... gosh, how interesting both presidents were assassinated. Yeah, Ron Paul knows his life is on the line, but he believes in the American people, and in America.

Wracked works in that sentence, imo. I prefer the wracked in grief over the wracked by conflict, but that's just me. ~smile~

My, you know Savanna, that pic speaks so much of women's liberation, both sexual and not...dressed provocatively, yet bound tightly with a tear in her eye. Wow.

There's something about that painting I find absolutely intriguing. You pegged the undercurrents perfectly, I think.
