Fight the Good Fight

Rory Calhoun starring again... oh, this Big Cat had her young'n crush on him.

Evening purrs, my fancy and dancy Big Cats... sundown on the tame prairie was utterly amazing... the sun was a huge orange-pink neon ball in a dusty pale slate-colored sky... the Kougaress can’t recall every seeing Sol this large in size... atmospheric, or something else?
~~~
Lordy, lordy... the Kougar thought she would get to pen a lot on her current short story WIP today... nope, that was a pipe dream... and she ain’t smokin’ anything.
~~~

12:12 am... yep, do you believe it? This Big Cat just got smacked again... what is going on?
~~~~~~~
Those who want freedom and those who don’t have been on a collision course for sometime now. It’s about to hit the ‘big world’ fan in several ways. Keep your head down, your tail tucked, and find safety wherever you can. And fight the good fight.
Showdown at High Noon!
By Gem Sivad
We’re dueling today in hundred word flashes. Take the gloves off (or put them on) Remember, all’s fair in love and war.
Here’s the Kougar’s flash scene ~
The Foal
Sophie adjusted her mount’s bridle, then slipped her fingers over the leather making certain the fit was perfect. Grabbing a handful of the racing mare’s pale mane, Sophie launched astride, and leaned forward. “Go,” she shouted as her thighs tightened on her horse’s slick sides.
Used to these spontaneous rides, her silver dapple mare eagerly trotted for the open gate. With a spirited toss of her head, Cloud stretched her legs and soon they galloped over the Flint Hills that surrounded her uncle’s ranch.
Wild for this ride, Sophie soared inside. The restless ache of her loins became sheer excitement.
The faster Cloud ran, the more Sophie’s blood sang with the thrill of it. Even though they ran the hard-packed trail that wound through the ranch’s land, Sophie kept watch for prairie dog holes, and anything that could harm the mare.
Catching a glimpse of a dark Stetson near one of the watering holes, Sophie eased back on the reins, then circled Cloud toward it at a lope. To her knowledge none of her uncle’s ranch hands were working that area. The cattle had been moved to another range.
With those extra broad shoulders, it could only be a man.
Given the watering hole was partly hidden by a stand of scrub oaks and brush, Sophie followed his progress by watching his back. Obviously, astride a mount, she knew he’d dismounted when his Stetson disappeared from view.
Slowing Cloud to a walk, she let caution rule as she approached. Gripping her derringer, she entered a break in the brush and hunkered down over the mare’s neck.
The man knelt beside his coal-black horse and gazed downward. Sophie’s heart jerked as she saw the lifeless looking foal. When the man drew his sidearm, his movement professional, she jumped off, and charged.
“Don’t you dare!” she hollered. With her fury driving her, she didn’t halt as he whipped around. Remaining crouched, he raised his gun.
Not having time to take aim with her derringer, Sophie dropped it. Leaping, she flew the short distance landing square on top of his chest. His bulky body staggered back a bit.
“Wildcat,” he uttered gruffly, as his arms clamped around her like a steel vise. Sophie twisted like the wildcat he’d called her, and his grip loosened. Fueled by her anger, she pummeled his shoulders and hard-as-a-barn-wall chest. “Whoa,” he muttered. “Whoa there, cowgirl. Or, I’ll...”
Sophie smashed her fist into his jaw, not caring how rock hard it was... and, it was. A stunned expression spread over his mountain-craggy features. With her hand stinging bad, she reared back to hit him again.
He rolled them, his body heavy as a bull calf on top of hers. “Get off, you coward!” Sophie fought his weight, struggling with all her might.
“I’ll get off when you get some sense, and calm down.”
His gravelly timber struck her middle like a sledgehammer, the kind that had her juicy with need. Shocked, she stilled, and desperately tried to think.
“Much better, little wildcat.” His harsh breathing let her know he carnally felt her. “Damn.” The word erupted from him like an oil gusher. “Don’t you feel good as you looked comin’ after me.”
“No!” Sophie struggled to roll from beneath him. Realizing her ‘no’ was for herself, and for him, she writhed furiously. When he didn’t move, keeping her trapped, she clawed at him.
She didn’t see his mouth. Suddenly, his lips claimed hers with no intention of leaving. Her only thought was to play dead long enough...
A tiny whinny interrupted. As one, they watched the foal stand.
In last week’s Angelic Forecast, Volcano said the storms would continue big time... did they ever. You can’t even keep up with all the devastation. Hurricane Karl drenched Mexico and two were killed. A nasty typhoon hit Taiwan and caused a wide range of devastation. That typhoon is now heading toward China. Bangladesh is flooded beyond belief. Hurricane Igor beat up the islands of Bermuda... and there’s more catastrophic weather... plus, moi lost her pear tree to a microburst type of storm... although, that’s nothing compared to what is happening around the globe.
Jenna Austin: Writing a picture
Cloud shots are brief opportunities – by the time I’d got my camera set up this cumulus had started to decay, but it still looks beautiful in the landscape.If you’re a scribbler I’m sure you’ll be familiar with the maxim: Who, What, Where, When, Why, and how it can help you focus and structure your work. Needing some help with my amateur photography, it occurred to me that with some tweaking I could use this writing guideline to improve my photographic results. I tried it - and I think it’s worked. So if you’re a writer who’s looking for some photographic help too, I offer up my humble, basic, suggestions for a pen-pusher’s photography mnemonic.
Happy Courtship on another Earth
X-Serial Flash in Two Hundred ~ Sylva and Zeke’s story continues...
Part 630 ~
Sylva smiled. “Mini motion pictures on our Earth’s so-called world wide web, also known as the internet.” Sylva danced her arms. Her stars moved with them making her feel ephemeral. “At the time I left,” she continued, “about anyone with computer access could make Youtube vids and upload them for anyone to see.” It was Bear Feather who spoke first, “Ah, yes, I have seen your Earth’s freedom movies, as we call them.” Eerily tingling inside, Sylva asked, “Freedom movies?” Indyra nodded gracefully. “Yes. Freedom lives on your Earth because of what we call, the united voice of the people.”
Zeke made certain he observed his woman’s face. Knowing something about how repressive her Earth could be, he wanted to see how Bear Feather and his wife’s words affected his Sylva. She paused, in deep thought for long moments. The sparkles twirled around her in a gentle motion. “Freedom.” It was as if the word came from her heart and her soul. “Oh, I so hope so.” The true hope in her soft voice captured him. The flames of hope lighting her eyes further hogtied him. “No,” she whispered, “I won’t ask you. About the future. That is, if you know.”
Serena, thanks... the heroine showed up the night before... I guess she wanted to star in this flash. She probably wants her own story... oh, how I wish... where are those dang time pockets anyway?
How ya feeling?
