Happy New Year yowls, howls, and growls, snow-romping Pussycats... cold on the tame prairie, but not quite frigid today... the early evening sky was wondrous to behold... and this Big Cat sure would like to know what the aircraft is that flies regularly over her place at a low altitude, but doesn't really sound like a plane or a helicopter... nor do the lights look like any regular aircraft... however, it's highly likely to be some kind of military craft... maybe a spy platform of some kind, data mining the area... who knows?... as a sky watcher the Kougaress used to enjoy planes, helicopters, jets flying overhead... not anymore!!! way to many 'high strange' things going on... now, it gives her the creeps. ~so sighing sad~
So, darlings, how about Vodka shampoo? Today this Big Cat heard about using Vodka as part of a shampoo recipe. Well, she didn't have much time to explore on the internet. However, evidently Vodka is used to clarify, or get rid of residue on the hair, and also to preserve homemade shampoo. Yeah, the Kougaress gave up using the commercial crap shampoos years and years ago, in favor of the natural, essential oil shampoos.

You may think you know who your ancestors were, but do you REALLY? Using genetic analyses, scientists have discovered that Northern European populations--including British, Scandinavians, French, and some Eastern Europeans--are descended from a mixture of two very different ancestral populations, and one of these populations is related to Native Americans.
This discovery helps fill gaps in scientific understanding of both Native American and Northern European ancestry, while providing an explanation for some genetic similarities among what would otherwise seem to be very divergent groups.
According to geneticist Nick Patterson, "There is a genetic link between the Paleolithic population of Europe and modern Native Americans. The evidence is that the population that crossed the Bering Strait from Siberia into the Americas more than 15,000 years ago was likely related to the ancient population of Europe."
Patterson and fellow geneticist David Reich studied DNA diversity and found that one of these ancestral populations was the first farming population of Europe, whose DNA lives on today in relatively unmixed form in Sardinians and the people of the Basque Country, and in at least the Druze population in the Middle East.
The other ancestral population is likely to have been the initial hunter-gathering population of Europe. These two populations were very different when they met. Today the hunter-gathering ancestral population of Europe appears to have its closest affinity to people in far Northeastern Siberia and Native Americans.
Geneticist Mark Johnston says, "The human genome holds numerous secrets. Not only does it unlock important clues to cure human disease, it also reveal clues to our prehistoric past. This relationship between humans separated by the Atlantic Ocean reveals surprising features of the migration patterns of our ancestors, and reinforces the truth that all humans are closely related."

If you have a car accident and are taken to the hospital, you're less likely to die if you've been drinking (as long as you weren't drinking so much that it CAUSED the accident!) It turns out that injured patients are less likely to die in the hospital if they have alcohol in their blood, and the more alcohol, the more likely they were to survive.
Injury epidemiologist Lee Friedman says, "This study is not encouraging people to drink. However, after an injury, if you are intoxicated there seems to be a pretty substantial protective effect."
Friedman analyzed Illinois Trauma Registry data for 190,612 patients treated at trauma centers between 1995 and 2009 who were tested for blood alcohol content, which ranged from zero to 0.5% at the time they were admitted to the trauma unit. Of that group, 6,733 died in the hospital. Alcohol benefited patients across the range of injuries, with burns being the only exception.
Friedman says, "At the higher levels of blood alcohol concentration, there was a reduction of almost 50% in hospital mortality rates. This protective benefit persists even after taking into account injury severity and other factors known to be strongly associated with mortality following an injury.
"If the mechanism behind the protective effect were understood, we could then treat patients post-injury, either in the field or when they arrive at the hospital, with drugs that mimic alcohol." Or why not with alcohol itself?
