Helping Others on the Land ~ Self-Made Career

Yes, this Big Cat absolutely adores red roses.

Late night yowls, my beautifully undulating Big Cats... a lovely day on the tame prairie with a perfect blue sky and a few puffy white clouds... ah, if only that was the whole of the world... yeah, 2012 is still not at all fun for the Kougaress... trauma, and more trauma... however, on her walk down to the mailbox, she saw some new lovely wild flowers, and a sweet gorgeous butterfly put himself/herself in this Big Cat's path several times... oh, and the red roses... mygosh, Kittens, the Kougar's red roses have gone crazy with large lush blooms and tons of buds... so many the stalks fell over, especially because they were still wet from the storm rains... this Big Cat had to cut a lot of the largest roses off... of course, they are gorgeous inside, and smell lovely.

Authoress news and mews ~

The Kougar is 'hoping' to write on her WIP ~ Her Midnight Stardust Cowboys ~ tonight... if only wishes came true and she had a magickal fantastical way to write at superspeed... if only.

To free or not to free, that is the question: On the Indie Authors loop, there's been a huge discussion about the affect of so many 'free' ebooks available on Amazon and other ebook vendors. While the Kougar has not participated in this important discussion, she's been feeling for quite awhile that the golden goose is being killed. She's not against an author offering an intro-free read, or having special promo days where the ebook is free. But, of course, it would come to this point where there is now a glut of free reads. That was one reason the Kougar simply put her price on, and has left it. No, she hasn't sold a ton of her first Indie ebook, SANTA BABY, SEVERAL STARS AWAY... but her short story has sold at 99 cents. The Kougar already offers a lot of free Flash Fiction reads on a regular basis, and enjoys doing this. However, an author who wants to continue *being* an author needs to make a decent amount. Not all of us can have the day job for various reasons. The Kougar's health doesn't allow for the rigors of a so-called regular job. She spends a huge amount of time and energy penning her stories just so. And like everyone else she deserves to be paid. So, no, the Kougar won't be joining the 'free' ebook train. However, she plans to price her books reasonably. She knows what it's like 'not' to have a large-enough budget. All too well.

The Dingo Man and His Time-Sliding Sharpshooter
by Savanna Kougar

Tuesday howls and yowls, shapeshifter lovers.

Dugger, my Dingo Shapeshifter makes a return appearance in this Flash Scene. Since his last appearance was without a heroine, in this scene Dugger finds the woman who wags his inner tail like no other.

Warning, though: Violence ensues.

The Dingo Man and His Time-Sliding Sharpshooter

Reeling with dizziness, Symone pushed to her feet, her training as a warrior instinctive. What appeared to be a tall-tree forest whirled crazily before her blinking gaze.

Familiar smells hit her nostrils. Only a year ago, she and her posse had routed out the last of the Global League infestation in the Montana Territory. Thus, ending the occupation of North America.

But, what the frant? Why was she here? She resided in the Arizona Republic.

Symone swung her Long Gun from her shoulder as she'd done thousands of times, automatically positioning her trusty weapon in one smooth motion.

From Astrology.com

Mercury Gets Grounded!

From fast and furious to slow and steady, Mercury, the winged messenger, is about to make a complete reversal in how it impacts your world!

On May 9, after flying high in Aries for the last couple weeks, Mercury will switch gears and sail into Taurus. Here, Mercury will become much more grounded, focusing on solid, tangible results. Conversations may be less inspired but more meaningful because they'll be rooted in reality. Mercury in Taurus encourages you to slow down to make decisions, and once your mind is made up the stubborn Bull will not allow you to budge!

Upon entering Taurus, Mercury will form a charming alliance with Neptune on May 10. Your intuition will go into overdrive, so make sure to follow through on any hunches, and don’t be surprised if you think of someone and suddenly they call you. This planetary pairing will leave you practically telepathic!

With your feet planted firmly on the ground and your intuition in high gear, there's no time like the present to re-evaluate your current career path.

Helping Others on the Land ~ Self-Made Career ... so, these days, many talented and highly intelligent people can't find a job, let alone a career. The time has come for innovate and practical thinking if you're not already doing that. Because it's past time to look beyond the establishment box to find employment. There aren't enough jobs for everyone, plain and simple. And, further, there won't be with the current level of population. This is by design, not by mere happenstance.

With that in mind, here's a suggestion that could work for some people, one that would help all of us. That is, if you're able-bodied. To start with, if you don't know already, scout out the people who are growing and/or raising good healthy food. Most organic/non-pesticide farms and ranches are in need of willing hands.

What if you could make a deal where you help them out in some way, if only for the good food? Even if you're stuck in a city, there could still be similar opportunities. And, what if you could help them increase their production and their profits with your labors?

What if also, you and others could form a community of like-minded people and help protect these farms and ranches. As the food supply dwindles, as prices skyrocket, there is likely to be a need for such protection.

Think of it this way, you may not be making a big salary. However, if you can feed yourself and your family, and help protect those growing and raising food... if you can work together as a community and somehow house each other, and clothe each other... in the end, that's what matters.

Remember, everything comes from the land, including true wealth. Whatever skills and talents you possess could very well serve in some way. If you have skills that would have been useful and necessary in the 1800s, then, when and if emergency situations come about, you'll be ahead of the game. For example, if you can spin yarn from wool, how great is that for clothing and making other useful items?

Get creative, really creative. Opportunities in the future as portrayed by the establishment is mostly a bunch o' bunk, except for a few chosen people. Just take a look at the lack of jobs for college graduates.

Also, if you have cyber/computer skills, or other contemporary skills... then that could obviously be used to help out in good ways, as well.

The old hippie phrase "Turn on, tune in, drop out" comes to mind. Why? Turn on to new possibilities. Tune in to the reality of the times. Drop out of the system and create a life that matters to you and your loved ones.

"Turn on, tune in, drop out" is a counterculture phrase popularized by Timothy Leary in 1967. Leary spoke at the Human Be-In, a gathering of 30,000 hippies in Golden Gate Park in San Francisco and uttered the famous phrase, "Turn on, tune in, drop out".

Free ebooks...that's a conundrum. On the one hand, I have download free first books in a series from EC when the do their specials and have liked some authors well enough to make me buy more in the series...

On the other hand, as an author, it feels like a risk. If the readers like it and buy more, yay. If not, money lost. ~Sigh~ To take the risk or not, hard to decide.

It is hard to decide, depending on the circumstance because, now, there is such a glut of free ebooks. So many, it would take a reader a long time wade through them all.

In fact, one author said, to paraphrase, Amazon has given us the gun to shoot ourselves in the foot as Indie authors because of the whole 'free read' promo thing.

If there wasn't such a glut, it could be a good promo move, and has been for some authors. But, like everything else, it's being way overdone, imo.
