What a bummer of an author day...

The Kougaress and her wolf buds are chewing iron, lead and steel... and spitting nails...

Late night puny mews, my sassy and saucy Big Kittens... temps warmed up nicely on the tame prairie and early in the day the Kougaress was rockin' and rollin' trying to find out why the meow-heck IE won't show the ShapeShifter Seductions blog right, when Firefox does. 'Course, before that she woke up having one of those over-and-over type dreams where massive clouds of evil were moving in... well...

Wow, does this Big Cat need a stiff drink. And she rarely even consumes any alcoholic drinks whatsoever. She's never even been close to what would be called an alcoholic. Heck, if she has a couple a drinks a year, that would be stretching it. However, in these times, she's had this urge... not acted upon yet... a couple of times recently... for a stiff drink. Not that she's against drinking alcoholic beverages. It was just never something that she got into, so to speak. She's reconsidering, given these 2012 times. Of course, then there's the expense of good quality organic wine, liquor... way too many pesticides in the ingredients used, to not go organic.

And, how was your day?

Even with the wind taken out of her proverbial sails, the Kougar hopes to get some good penning done later... SIGHS! Big time sighs...

Chapter Twenty-Seven ~ Swallowed Him Like a Great Serpent

Almost upon him, the enemy braves mind-hurled their large silver blades, tipped with rattlesnake venom. Dontoya slowed abruptly, then spun imitating a cyclone. The energy field he flung around himself simultaneously, caused the six knives to swerve and miss.

Rattlesnake Spirit had warned him, looming before his mind's eye briefly.

With another Tasmanian-devil spin, as Zance called his ability, Dontoya launched inside the secondary tunnel, a natural part of the cave system. Too late, he realized all the traps had been activated because the Pruezi invaders had attempted to gain entry, but failed.

Since the four traps were located closer to the palatial cavern, Dontoya raced forward, once again relying on his cougar sight. With the luminescence of the main tunnel fading, the inky darkness enveloped him.

Tap. Tap. Tap. The soft sound echoed in the night. Alexis clutched her purse close. She had walked along the boulevard since she was a young girl. But tonight felt different. Something--or someone--waited.

Yes, my darlings, Dear Author *Lies* Once Again. How sad that someone would devolve into such arrested development behavior... but there ya go. Never mind the facts. Never mind finding out the facts. Just make up your own facts. Because for some reason you have a vendetta against a publishing company, that as far as this Big Cat can tell, never did you any wrong.

What a bummer of an author day...

This is what the Kougaress just posted on her Purple Silk Books page ~

UPDATE: It is with truly sad regret that this author announces Bookstrand will NO LONGER be a venue for Indie-published books. Being an author with Siren-Bookstrand, this cuts deep for several reasons. This author wished to have all her books available for readers in one venue that was not necessarily Amazon. Since Siren does not accept short stories and/or does not always re-publish rights-back books, this places this author in a bind as far as now having to go with another strategy that is not exciting nor compelling, and only increases the chance for a retailer monopoly. It is also particularly disappointing that Paypal can be bullied by the big credit card companies into picking on book retailers who are doing nothing wrong, or will take the necessary steps to correct any problem.
~~~
Right now, to continue, this Big Cat is so angry she could be spitting nails... big ole honkin' steel nails ... why? Because ALL of the so-called Big Banks, without exception, launder drug money hand over fist... constantly!!! [do the research if you doubt this] Why? Because it's one of their REALLY lucrative honeypots. And if any drug dealing competitor gets in their way... gone, baby... as in most likely DEAD. So, Mastercard and Visa are owned by these banks, and MC and Visa run Paypal... so *THEY*, the bankster gangsters, get to soil their hands everyday in every way with all their dirty drug dealings, and other dirty illegal dealings, but, gosh, we little folks aren't allowed sell our erotic romance books at Bookstrand, or Paypal will shut down the venue down. It doesn't even matter if we're NOT guilty of breaking any laws in terms of sexual content, oh nooooooo... hey, somebody complains, and it's a matter of selective enforcement with no judge, no jury, no nothing... except mafia-thug 'we'll break your knees if you don't comply' tactics... so, what is the 'possible' truth here? What? THEY want to keep some sort of 'clean, holier-than-thou image'? Or, more likely, THEY want to keep all the erotic-content ebook action for their coffers, so THEY get rid of the little guys on the block with some cockamamie excuse-problem that could have been easily solved in the beginning. So, bottom line, each time one of us little folks uses a credit card, uses a bank account that is linked to the BIG GUY BANKS, we are supporting illegal drug use, other bad-guy businesses [pedophilia rings], and even worse crimes that would give most of us an entire lifetime of non-stop nightmares... nice, huh? Since THEY'RE the only game in town it's difficult to function without using a credit card, check, etc. So, no, of course, the average employee of these companies doesn't realize who and what their mucky-muck big soulless bosses really are... they just work at what they think is a legitimate business, a legitimate career. Heaven help us all, because we really need it.
1:11 am... 2:12 am... 2:22 am... 3:33 am... 11:11 pm... so far, the sun entering Pisces has not proven to be a good thing for this Big Cat's career path...
~sigh~ I hope this new development in self publishing does not turn back into a witch hunt for "porn"
Where will it end... :(
Was your ARe affected, as well?
Serena, the witch hunters are definitely on the loose from the info I've gathered. I wish they'd hunt worthy prey, however.
I don't blame Bookstrand for wanting to get rid of the porn [not erotic romance] titles because that's not their business, and not what they based their biz on originally. The problem is, now I'm out in the cold, and I'm probably not the only one. Santa Baby met their submission guidelines, except for being a short story.
ARe sent a clarification agreement to sign about what is erotica and what is erotic romance. So far, to my knowledge they're still publishing, no problem, and Santa Baby made more dollars with them.
It's just that I had a plan to build up readership and have all my titles available in one place for readers, including the SHAPESHIFTER SEDUCTIONS titles. Now that's gone!!! Except through Amazon, and I'm not really into monopolies. Yeah, there's B&N, but still they want to be a monopoly too.
The problem is also, what other epub/small publishers are really viable? Or even selling that many books? The other problem, even if they are, like EC... at least, they appear to be viable, I can't write what they're looking for. Or, I can't write it in the style they want.
No, it is totally understandable that Siren is doing what's best for their business, but it does suck for authors like yourself who followed the guidelines.
Competing with big companies like Amazon & B&N is virtually impossible, but that leaves you with finding a different publisher or starting your own. Eep, you already have the name, but who has the time?
I know this will settle back down at some point, but it really does set good authors back, in the meantime. :(
Yeah, I don't have the time or energy to start an epublishing enterprise.
It's too bad for me and the other Indie authors who were following the guidelines, like you say. And there were several who had shapeshifting stories.
The only good place to epublish I know at this point that is smaller is ARe.
Who knows I may be out in the cold now. Except for Smashwords and Amazon.
