Man Behind Bundy Ranch Standoffs Plans Massive Easter Sunday Gathering in Defiance of Government Orders
Ammon Bundy is planning to hold a massive thousand-person Easter gathering in Idaho — defying government orders against large gatherings.
Bundy was one of the men behind the 41-day militia standoff at an Oregon wildlife refuge in 2016 and the Bundy Ranch standoff in 2014.
Idaho Governor Brad Little announced a stay-at-home order in the state on March 25, and Bundy says he will not comply. He has also been hosting meetings with dozens of like-minded people discussing ways to defy the order.
During one of the meetings that was filmed and posted to Facebook, Bundy said that he will personally help provide legal, political and physical defense to Idaho residents who are planning to ignore the governor’s order.
“I will be there,” Bundy said. “I will bring as many people as we can. Speaking to the New York Times, Bundy said that his group is looking for a venue to host a thousand person Easter service in his state.
“Please help us find this venue so those wanting to worship and honor God on this eventful day, can do so. We are willing to pay for the use of the building, if it is not donated,” Bundy wrote in a Facebook post. “We must stand together in times such as these.”
In a Facebook Live video about his Easter plans, Bundy said that he has been receiving hate mail and death threats over the event.
Bundy isn’t the only one in Idaho with major concerns about the shut down.
Idaho Representative Heather Scott posted a video to the Idaho Legislature’s website last week titled “The Virus that Tried to Kill the Constitution-COVID, The Constitution and Cause for Concern.”
“Our government is founded on the principle that each of us has inalienable rights that come from God, and that the government’s role is to protect those rights. Some of our rights include life, liberty, the right to possess and protect our property (a business is a property), the right to speak freely, the right to defend ourselves, the right to freedom of assembly, and the right of equal protection. Our government cannot take those rights, even in times of emergency,” Scott said.
Likewise, North Idaho Representative Pastor Tim Remington said that church gatherings act as an essential service and are necessary for some worshipers during times of uncertainty caused by coronavirus.
As of Tuesday, there had been 1,170 cases of the coronavirus in Idaho and 13 deaths.

Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agents recently thwarted a large human smuggling attempt that ended in a dangerous high-speed chase and shootout in Arizona.
Nineteen illegals were apprehended as they attempted to reach a stash house in vehicles disguised to look like construction crew trucks.
A cartel operative leading the operation fled into Mexico after the gun battle with a CBP agent.
“The shootout Wednesday capped off an incident that began when agents noticed two older-model Ford F-250 pickup trucks with logos reading ‘SWC Southwest Valley Constructors,’ which raised suspicion after a string of incidents over the past month, according to court documents that detailed the arrest,” the Washington Times reports.
“SWC is the name of the firm contracted to build fencing in the Tucson sector, but the company told agents their fleet used only newer-model F-250s.”
The trucks separated after agents began following them, with one driver continuing onward in a legal manner until his path was blocked by a CBP vehicle.
Agents apprehended 15 illegal aliens in the truck, including the driver, who says he had been commissioned to pilot the vehicle in exchange for a reduced smuggling fee.
The driver of the other truck reportedly took flight at high-speed, ramming into a CBP vehicle during the chase.
“After the truck eventually stopped, shots were fired, according to the court filings,” the Times reports.
The driver, identified as ‘Javier’ by border agents, managed to escape back into Mexico, while his four passengers – all illegal aliens – were apprehended at the scene.
The Times reports it has documented eight incidents involving border wall construction being used as cover for human smuggling activities.

Former top aide to Pope Francis exonerated by Australian court
Australia’s highest court has tossed the conviction of Cardinal George Pell, who was found guilty of historic child sex crime and sentenced to six years in prison.
The ex-Vatican treasurer was once a close aide to Pope Francis.
“The High Court found that the jury, acting rationally on the whole of the evidence, ought to have entertained a doubt as to the applicant’s guilt with respect to each of the offenses for which he was convicted, and ordered that the convictions be quashed and that verdicts of acquittal be entered in their place,” a Queensland High Court said in a statement on Tuesday.
Pell was convicted by a jury in Australia of five counts of historic sex crimes in December 2018. Pell, who is the most senior Vatican figure to ever be found guilty of the sexual abuse of a minor, was sentenced to six years behind bars with a possibility of parole. He had served 405 days of his sentence before the groundbreaking verdict was overturned unanimously on Tuesday.
The case against Pell was solely based on the testimony of one of his alleged victims – a former choirboy who said that the cardinal, then the archbishop of Melbourne, sexually abused him and another boy in late 1996 and early 1997.
Justifying their decision to set the cleric free, the seven-judge panel cited the accounts provided by “opportunity witnesses” who described the movements of the cardinal at the time of the reported crime – which allegedly took place during Sunday Mass – strikingly differently to the complainant.
By ordering to release Pell from custody with immediate effect, the court overruled the decision by the Victorian Court of Appeal from August 2019, which sided with the prosecution.
Back then, Pell lost his case in a 2-1 split vote.
Referring to that case, the highest court argued that the appellate judges “failed to engage with the question of whether there remained a reasonable possibility that the offending had not taken place,” while “leaving open the possibility” that the alleged victim’s account was correct.
In a first statement after his release, Pell said that he holds no grudge against his accuser, who is now in his 30s.
“I hold no ill will towards my accuser, I do not want my acquittal to add to the hurt and bitterness so many feel; there is certainly hurt and bitterness enough.”
The cardinal noted, however, that one should not make far-reaching conclusions from his trial, and appeared to acknowledge that the Australian government as a whole was lax in dealing with rampant child sex abuse by priests.
“My trial was not a referendum on the Catholic Church; nor a referendum on how Church authorities in Australia deal with the crime of pedophilia in the Church.”
The clergy, including Archbishop Mark Coleridge, president of the Australian Catholic Bishops Conference, applauded the decision, hailing it an “outcome welcomed by many.” However, it drew ire from an advocacy group and a lawyer for one of the victims.
“We will continue to pursue a civil claim on behalf of our client despite the High Court’s ruling today,“ Lisa Flynn, a lawyer for the father of one of the two alleged victims, said. The former choirboy died in 2014 after a long battle with drug addiction.
The Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests (SNAP) has lambasted the court as well.
“Our hearts ache for the surviving accuser in this case, and we hope that this disappointing ruling does not deter other victims from coming forward to report their abuse,“ it said.
Throughout his trial, Pell was adamant about his innocence, dismissing all sex crime allegations as bogus.

Activists To Protest Coronavirus Restrictions With Rally On National Mall In D.C.
A throng of conservative activists plan to rally Saturday on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., to protest stay-at-home orders by state governments.
Jacob Wohl and Jack Burkman, two well known conservative activists, told The Washington Times they are organizing the event.
“We are taking to the National Mall,” Wohl, 22, said on Friday. “We’re having a mass gathering there in protest of the draconian and really horrifying response to the so-called pandemic.”
“The response is 100 times worse than the virus,” Wohl said about efforts to slow the spread of COVID-19. “That is our belief.”
