POLICE FINE UK SHOPPER FOR BUYING WINE DURING CORONAVIRUS LOCKDOWN
Stories of draconian & erroneous enforcement of coronavirus rules continue to stack up.
UK police issued a fine to a shopper who bought wine and potato chips during the coronavirus lockdown, claiming that these were “non-essential” items.
“I was walking through Holyrood Park on Sunday afternoon (5 April) on my way back from Morrisons (a supermarket). Two officers asked to look inside my bag, and then fined me for only having crisps, other snacks and a bottle of wine,” the shopper told Edinburgh Live.
Another person in West Lothian tweeted to report a nurse in uniform being fined after leaving a patient’s house and someone who left a shop after purchasing a bottle of wine. Both were fined £30.
Another man reported that his friend’s daughter had also been fined £30 for buying wine and snacks.
A friend of my daughter was fined £30 on the spot in Edinburgh the other night having just bought wine and snacks, both of which are non-essential. Still seems a bit draconian to me.
Police have just fined me for taking the dog a walk at this time of night....
@DerbysPolice are a disgrace. My wife was stopped as she got in ger car after walking the dog on the way to do the weekly shop for us, her 74 year old Mother and a vulnerable neighbour. Officers not interested in reasons, they were rude, bullying gave a £60 fine with glee.
@policescotland I have just found out that one of my friends was given a fine for buying a bottle of Prosecco. Your officers went through her bag and fined her because that’s all she bought. May I remind you that alcohol is permitted to be bought and that your fascism is not on!
The fines are a misapplication of the law and should be dismissed. Downing Street clarified last week that shoppers can purchase any item that is being sold. Since any journey to buy food is treated as “essential” and the only shops that are open are food shops, all purchases are therefore technically “essential.”
The government’s intervention to clarify the law came after Cambridge Police tweeted that they were monitoring “non-essential” supermarket aisles in a local branch of Tesco to make sure people weren’t purchasing frivolous items.
Northamptonshire Police chief constable Nick Adderley also prompted outrage after he appeared in a video to warn people who were buying unessential items at grocery stores that their purchases may be scrutinized by the authorities.

A police force in the UK has bragged that its officers may be ‘hiding in the shadows’ ready to catch people who have picnics in rural locations.
The Central Community Team, which represents Bedfordshire Police, tweeted out an ominous message that sounds like it could have been ripped straight from the pages of George Orwell’s 1984.
“If you think that by going for a picnic in a rural location no one will find you, don’t be surprised if an officer appears from the shadows! We are covering the whole county,” states the tweet.

A journalist in the UK received a home visit from police after he reported mosques in his area that were violating the coronavirus lockdown law.
Tom Linden, host of UK Preppers Radio Network, filed a complaint with West Yorkshire Police after he saw reports in local media that Muslims in Bradford and Leeds were gathering at mosques for Friday prayers in violation of COVID-19 isolation rules.
In the complaint, Linden made it clear that he would be monitoring and reporting on mosques that were flouting quarantine rules, something that obviously flagged him for police attention.
“All other religious denominations places of worship are of course closed and quite rightly so in my opinion,” Linden said.
“I read two articles in two different newspapers, one covering Bradford, The Telegraph and Argus, the other covering Leeds, The Leeds Press. They both talked of mosques flouting the CV-19 social distancing rules.”
Linden said in the complaint he made it clear he was going to “drive around” and report on mosques that were in violation of the law.
This earned him a visit from two police officers who cautioned him that he was engaging in “unnecessary” travel.
Linden claimed that as a journalist he qualified as a “key worker” and that his activities were therefore permissible under the law.
In the clip, the officers appear uncomfortable with Linden recording the interaction as they grill him about his behavior.
They attempt to make Linden reveal what car he drives, but he refuses to tell them.
Shortly after Linden accuses the police of targeting him for reporting on the activities of Muslims, the officers begin to leave.
They instruct him not to make any more “non-essential” journeys but refuse to make it clear whether that is a demand that will lead to consequences if ignored.
Meanwhile, as authorities warn that they are ‘hiding in the shadows’ to catch people having picnics in rural areas, gatherings of youths in some of London’s most “diverse” areas are entirely ignored by police.

Obama’s NIH paid the Chinese weapons lab $3.7 million to conduct SARS-Coronavirus research
Documents obtained by the Daily Mail confirm that Communist China had been harvesting, developing, and testing novel coronaviruses on mammals using grant money from the U.S. government under former President Obama.
For months China had been claiming the coronavirus now known as COVID-19 originated from a wet market in Wuhan, but evidence shows that the Institute of Virology in Wuhan undertook coronavirus experiments on mammals, including bats, backed by grants from the National Institute of Health.
The results of the NIH-backed research were published in a 2017 study called “Discovery of a rich gene pool of bat SARS-related coronaviruses provides new insights into the origin of SARS coronavirus.”
“Bats in a cave in Yunnan, China were captured and sampled for coronaviruses used for lab experiments,” the study said.
“All sampling procedures were performed by veterinarians with approval from the Animal Ethics Committee of the Wuhan Institute of Virology.”
“Bat samplings were conducted ten times from April 2011 to October 2015 at different seasons in their natural habitat at a single location (cave) in Kunming, Yunnan Province, China. Bats were trapped and faecal swab samples were collected.”
“Herein, we report the identification of a diverse group of bat SARSr-CoVs in a single cave in Yunnan, China. Importantly, all of the building blocks of SARS-CoV genome, including the highly variable S gene, ORF8 and ORF3, could be found in the genomes of different SARSr-CoV strains from this single location.”
Additionally, Indian researchers scanned the novel coronavirus genome and found unique cell identification and membrane binding proteins located in the HIV genome, suggesting the 2019-nCov is a laboratory-made chimera, but withdrew their findings after receiving pressure from China.
