To be created by your soul...

Late night yowls, my getting-ready-for-winter Kittens... rains, slashing wind arrived on the tame prairie a couple of hours after the Kougaress returned from her marathon stock-up trip into town... wowser-mouser, my Felines, this Big Cat has never seen the fields cut so short to the ground before... haying has still been going on big time... the grass was thin this year because of the cold spring weather... and with the flooding, droughts and wildfires this year, hay bales are likely at a premium.

Authoress news and mews ~

Okay, then, the Kougar is making some progress on preparing RED LIONESS TAMED for Indie publication. As well, she is looking at Indie pubbing a Christmas Flash Story she wrote a few years ago that is about 10,000 words... ‘trying’ being the operative word here, since getting good cover art at this late date could be a major problem... yeah, if this Big Cat had the computer power she’d try designing her own. Who knew some people use Power Point to design covers?

Puzzlement ensues... the Kougar needs to write her post for LINDSAY’S ROMANTICS aka THE PINK BLOG coming up on November 4 ~ which is known as Mischief Night. And she is clueless right now.

Winter treats
by Rebecca Gillan

The slobber snow had turned to fairy snow by they time Mooney pulled into Talbot’s Peak, just as the radio announce said it would. Mooney, amused by his own addition to the list of odd names for snow fall, turned off his windshield wipers and turned down the heater in the cab. He had needed the heater running full-blast while the thick snow was falling but as a wolf, he really hadn’t appreciated all the extra heat.

To be created by your soul... my darlings, Clarissa Pinkola Estes, author of WOMEN WHO RUN WITH THE WOLVES, was the guest on COAST TO COAST am last night... and was she simply a pure soul-pleasure to listen to...

Visitations & Spiritual Experiences

Date: 11-01-11
Host: George Noory
Guests: Clarissa Pinkola Estes

Scholar, award-winning poet, Jungian psychoanalyst, and cantadora (keeper of the old stories in the Latina tradition), Dr. Clarissa Pinkola Estés, discussed people's extraordinary or supernatural experiences, including spiritual visitations. Some cultures have tried to suppress or discount people's spiritual encounters, such as declaring that a person is mentally ill, if they say they've seen a religious apparition, or something that is greater than themselves. She disparaged this practice, saying "it's like putting a scourge on them," and telling them they are not worthy to have this experience.

Delineating our spiritual and psychological nature, she said the spirit is the animating force of the psyche, whereas the soul is a gigantic broadcasting and transmission system, capable of receiving from beyond the body and the mind. The soul could be thought of like the universe, while the ego is just a tiny island, Dr. Estes continued. Regarding people's supernatural encounters such as the appearances at Fatima, Lourdes, and Medugorje, she said "there's a huge force in the world, call it whatever you like. We are too small to comprehend it, but we have representations of it," such as the Holy or Blessed Mother.

These apparitions are called different names in various cultures, and the effects they have on people are more important than the specifics of what they see, she commented. Imagination is different from fantasy; it is the perception that allows us to see the other world, Estes stated. She also shared her own childhood encounter with a 'Blessed Mother' type figure, who came to her from the water on a beach. Later, her family denied her experience and told her she was seeing a nearby lighthouse.

Yeah, I can see Power Point for covers. Power Point is actually a really slick tool...Darling Diva and I used it to do a "book" project she had in school last year and with the clip art and image capabilities, it turned out really nice. :)

Also, it looks like Create Space has a cover creator program right on their site...have you checked that out? Might be just the thing.

Serena, interesting. I've never tried to use Power Point or a program like it.

I'll have to check out Create Space, which I'll likely use in the future for a print book. But that's on down the road.

Gosh, I'm so behind the curve, I have to wonder if there's ever any catching up. That, and having time to actually write. ~help~
