So, You Want to be a Star

Isn’t this picture absolutely stunning, KitKats? Here’s the article ~

Kaleidoscope in the sky: The swirling star trail taking centre stage high above Mount Everest

By Daily Mail Reporter

It looks like an Artex paint finish so beloved by suburban households in the 1970s.

But this amazing images is actually a swirling star trail above Mount Everest in the Himalayas.

Photographer Anton Jankovoy spent months camping at the foot of the world's highest peak patiently waiting for the right weather conditions.

The 23-year-old was so determined not to leave until he had accomplished his mission that he even began meditating to overcome the freezing temperatures.

After three years dedicated to the project, Mr Jankovoy finally caught a series of stunning star trails.

Landmark peaks including the Annapurna South and the Hiunchuli can be seen in the spectacular images which took hours to capture and expose.

Mr Jankovov, from Zhytomyr in the Ukraine, said: 'I adore photography, especially landscapes because I can just sit there and observe the nature around me. It's so peaceful.

'But because star trail images need very long shutter speeds they take a lot of patience.

'I've learnt how to endure the freezing cold by meditating. It's surprising but it really helps.

'Although I started taking photographs when I was nine years old I really learnt to cultivate my skills when taking photographs in the mountains.

'All my childhood I dreamt about mountains and hoped to visit Nepal one day.

Raging spunky greetings, my lucky plucky Pussycats... the wind was cold on the tame prairie today... however, it was only partly cloudy... and! The Kougaress just saw stars!!! there was Orion’s belt... Oh, how she misses seeing the stars when she gazes out her window at night these days... away, overcast skies, away!
~~~
So, You Want to be a Star... this insight came about a week or so ago... with all the mania around the whole hype-celebrity thing, or TV and Movie *stars*, as if they are heavenly beings beyond us mere mortals who have ‘not’ been designated as STARS by the entertainment establishment... well, this Big Cat recalled in her musings, that, long, long ago she’d read an astrological analysis of the baby boomer generation... succinctly put, this generation will know that they are each stars, each one a star in their own right, and in their ability to shine forth creatively... they will know, at their core, they are star stuff... they will know that each individual is meant to shine like a star in their own life... and each individual star is included in the grand firmament that is life.
So, what happened? That inner knowing, that inner brightness has been co-opted, brutalized out of us, by THOSE serving the dark corruption threatening our precious world.
BOOGALU
by rita@ salsacrazy.com
Boogalu (a.k.a. Boogaloo), a fusion of Rhythm and Blues and Cuban son montuno, was popular in the United States from 1966-69. Boogalu was the first contemporary Latin music form that captured my attention because of its funky sounds, engaging choral chants by the audience, English lyrics, references to symbols of African American culture (“cornbread, hog maws and chitlins”), and background sounds of raucous party goers. Boogalu was a highly successful crossover musical style, capturing the attention of audiences who were previously not familiar with Latin music.
Boogalu resonated particularly with African American audiences. Performers such as Jimmy Sabater and Joe Cuba clearly state that Boogalu was inspired by the interaction between African American dancers and Latin musicians in New York at nightclubs such as Palm Gardens Ballroom. They recount stories of how the structure and tone of Boogalu songs such as “Bang, Bang” were developed in an effort to appeal to African American dancers who were not responding to their traditional mambos and cha cha chas. Many of the Boogalu musicians report that they were also deeply influenced by the R+B, jazz and Doo Wap bands of that era. Music historian Juan Flores, in his seminal work on Boogalu entitled “Cha Cha with a Backbeat, suggests that the song title and refrain “ I Like It Like That” may have some roots in a 1961 R+B tune with the same name composed by Chris Kenner, from New Orleans.
Witchy wahooooo! Another chapter is finished. Just two or three more chapters to go for the Kougar’s WIP ~ Kandy Apple and Her Hellhounds. Claws, toes, fingers, whiskers crossed that will happen very soon. Oh, please, please... oh, great writerly divine...
Okay, this snippet, from the latest chapter doesn’t reveal much... still, here it is, unedited, of course, except for yours cat truly...
Chapter Fifty-Two ~ Unholy, Holier-than-thou Prick
Zol wrapped his arm around his spirited Kandy Apple, embracing her protectively against his body. Mentally, he growled at the approach of the two DOD agents.
Feeling the red flash of his eyes, he snapped his gaze to Zin for the briefest moment. Already, they had been surrounded by the DOD detail.
“No,” the Major replied. “There is no problem. My manners are lacking.”
“Perhaps, you would care to join us at our table, Major Odarran,” Zin invited. “Not to brag. However, we are known for our savoir-faire.”
“Are you certain there’s no problem, Major?” The woman raked her gaze over their faces, after an icy stare that rivaled an aggravated Valkyrie.
Intermission Gal Style
Octavia smiled as she sat upon the bed next to Mickey.
"I've known Tongson for some time. Let's say longer than many folks would believe."
Mickey nodded. "Night Hawk said an old friend was visiting. He refused to share more." Her hand gripped the spread and bunched it twice before letting the chenille clump go.
Octavia patted her hand and leaned closer. "I see you haven't learned the age old adage about men."
Quincy's Woman Coming Soon
by Gem Sivad
I'm loving my new cover created by Ellora's Cave artist, Syneca for my coming soon book, Quincy's Woman. This story started as a 2,500 word Free Read titled The Journal of Lucy Quince.
The original was written in the format of a diary as a narrative of a young woman's first year of marriage exploring both the sensual side of a relationship, the erotic heat that can unite two very different people, and the incredible challenges a woman faced in 1867 Texas.
Wow! That picture is incredible. I've always longed to have the skill and talent to capture scenes like that.
It's so incredible, it's almost hard to believe that it's real. For me. I'm not certain I'd have the patience. Although, I love doing art like photography.
Time out today, since I had to get a Romance Studio blog done, and work on the Shapeshifter bloggie, because I have stuff to get done tomorrow.
But it's rolling... fingers crossed!!!
