Very late night meows, my holiday-ethereal and elusive Big Cats... there’s one of us running wild in Wales these days... a black panther type, so they say... or maybe one of the legendary cat shifters known to be in Wales has decided to play games with the locals... hmmmm... oh, wait, a little mental contact going on... Mr. and Ms. Black Cat say they're visiting from another planetary world, and are gathering intel... easier to do in their shifted form than as two-legged beings... well now, the Kougaress wasn’t expecting that... however, she does possess a very vivid imagination... oh, hold on, the Big Black Cat couple says they’ll stay in telepathic contact... yowls, that should be entertaining... ~smiles~

The tail-switching holiday moment: Mr. Eagle did a close swooping dive right in front of moi’s van as she slowly drove down to the mailbox, so close she hit the brake. Yes, she was greatly surprised and greatly delighted.

Back in 1986, a book was released by Shambhala Press - Writing Down the Bones, by Natalie Goldberg. My sister urged me to read the book. She thought it would help me jumpstart my writing career. I never did read the book, but I love the title. The visual is great - writing down the bones. When I create a work of science fiction, I view my story as a human body and I begin with the bones, the skeleton, so to speak. Once the structure is in place, I begin to fill in - flesh out the story, or body of the work, and imbue my characters with heart and soul.

Masks so realistic they're arresting the wrong guy

In one New York case last year, thieves stole a car with a GPS device and used the navigation system to find the victim's home, where they stole a second car.

Slusser opened SPFXMasks in 2003. His six-person crew uses silicone that looks and feels like flesh, down to the pores. Each strand of hair — and it's human hair — is sewn on individually. Artists methodically paint the masks to create realistic skin tones.

"I wanted to make something that looks so real that when you go out for Halloween no one can tell," Slusser said. "It's like 'Mission: Impossible' — you pull it over your head one time and that's it. It's like a 10-hour makeup job in 10 seconds."

He experimented until he found the right recipe for silicone that would seem like skin. A key discovery was that if the inside of the mask is smooth — even if the outside is bumpy with pores, a nose and other features — it will stretch over most faces and move with facial muscles.

Customers include Halloween revelers, theme parks and a few TV shows and horror movies, Slusser said. The main character in the film "Hallows Point" wore an SPFX mask, he said, as do the dancing old man characters who perform at Six Flags amusement parks.

Slusser's customers also include a few Hollywood celebrities who use the masks to fool paparazzi, but he declined to reveal their names.

The masks are time-consuming to make, and they're not cheap. Slusser's first effort to sell them through a Manhattan Halloween shop was a flop, simply because customers weren't expecting to spend hundreds of dollars for a mask.

Slusser moved his sales operation online. The company projects $500,000 in sales this year and expects to turn a profit for the first time.

Lawbreakers have always tried to hide their identities, wearing hats, pulling bandannas or ski masks over their faces, or donning wigs. Slusser's masks pose additional challenges, but the larger issue remains human nature, said Riordan of the Springdale police force.

"It's not SPFX masks or Rusty Slusser that's making these people commit crimes," Riordan said.

This is a wise -- if not enthusiastically embraced -- reminder around the holidays. Still, take a little extra time to go over your budget in detail and try not to overspend. In fact, given the tendencies of retrograde Mercury, it would be smart to set a bit of extra money set aside if possible, just in case.

In general, if it seems like little things are somewhat problematic -- electronics are on the fritz, communications keep going afoul or delays seem interminable -- remember to take a step back, breathe deeply and let your mind wander. These things are bound to happen from time to time. Instead of allowing stress to build up, use the time to rejuvenate yourself with a bit of quiet meditation or introspection.

And don't forget, the 10th will also see some extra romance once Mercury and Venus take a turn around the dance floor in Scorpio. This combination of communication (Mercury), romance (Venus) and sexy seduction (Scorpio) is sure to help turn up the heat on these cold winter nights!

Ginger gazed at her steadily. “But,” she repeated, “before you’re arrival here on our Earth, Sylva, the Secret Circle was makin’ banging noises. Most of us figured a time of reckoning was comin’ due. Dear, I see your arrival as fortuitous. My Zeke needed a wife like you. And, with the strength of our family, friends, and the community at large, we’re better able to take on this growin’ evil, and bring it to heel.”

Zeke caught the reflective flash of the robo-plane and focused the zoom lens. “Sure as shootin’,” he shouted. “Looks the same as what we was chasin’. Are they tryin’ to silence their own? Or, are those good guys?” Van hummed the Speeder closer, but on a higher trajectory, above the robo-plane. “Could be rival bad guys,” he hollered. Zeke gripped the joystick just in case. At the same moment, he heard the streaking whine of the Sheriff’s jet posse. “Right on time,” he called out. Van flew them higher. “They’re hailing us, boss You want me to talk to ‘em?”

Oh, joy! The tame prairie was bombard by aerial spraying otherwise known as chemtrails... huge long parallel lines across the sky, and also X’s, for several hours this afternoon. And, no, the Kougaress does not live beneath an airport flight path, or any kind of flight path. She also knows what a regular contrail looks like, having grown up watching them as short vaporous trails behind jets. Oh, how this Big Cat wishes some friendly extraterrestrial, or some divine being... or whoever... would stop them by any means necessary. PLEASE!
