After ten-at-night meows, my spunky and Halloween-spooky Kittens... the near quarter moon is gorgeous in the night sky, bright and beautifully white... a bizarre and busy day... moi needs a timeout! ... the internet has been a pain in the butkus, and other tech stuff went wonky, but, so far, no disasters ~knock on wood~ but, darn it all, this Big Cat doesn’t even know where to start, or what to tell... however, roar it to say she is still okay, but emotionally drained. ALSO, she did get some good penning done on Kandy early this morning... and is *hoping* claws crossed, that will continue. ~~~
More and more, courage is a necessity in these times, and often minute by minute. Not that moi is any kind of good example. Though, she does have her moments. Last night on Coast to Coast am, one of the authors of The Courage Companion, Nina Lesowitz, talked about her book and gave story-examples of how to gain courage during the bad times. She had a lot of good things to say, one of them is a saying: Courage doesn’t roar. How often is that true? Sometimes, it is just about getting through a day, or even one minute. Sometimes it’s about pressing on, despite everything lined up against you.The other thing Nina said that resonated with the Kougaress ~ isolation is a soul killer. Isolation, as in being in the writerly cave is a good thing. However, isolation from others, a like-minded group of folks, is not a good thing at all, and happens way too often in our world. Sure yowls, you can get umpteen hundreds and hundreds of friends on the social network sites... but that’s a pale imitation of true friendship and true caring. For the most part, this Big Cat witnesses dying souls all around her. Strong family bonds for many, simply do not exist anymore. Strong bonds between human beings simply do not exist, not as they once did. And, not as they should for a healthy and happy life. ~~~~~~

Forget Halloween... REAL HORROR HAPPENINGS!!! Oh, lordy, lordy... my meow friends, this Big Cat just can’t keep up with all the current evil-doings in our world... she went to pieces emotionally for awhile today when she found out the infant girl taken by CPS in New Hampshire had been assaulted and was rushed to the hospital... her parents, during a supervised visit couldn’t rouse her, and began changing her diaper... they discovered blood... and now the Sheriff has taken direct custody of the baby, away from CPS... did you know a child is much safer, statistically, if left with the parents. Sexual assault by those working at CPS is FIVE times more likely to occur than what occurs in society generally. ~~~
What an unholy mess!!! Batman... Oh, wow, now different banks are foreclosing on the same properties... well, hell, let them duke it out... meanwhile, stay put or homestead and tell them where to go [whenever you need to, and if you can]... plus, some idiot bank tried to foreclose on a man who had NO MORTGAGE whatsoever... imagine that unholy mess... ~~~

After twelve yowls, good and most splendid Felines... a long day for ths Big Cat... it was trek into the city for groceries and other biz stuff... and with the weather turning out warmish, moi saw several winging hawks and a beautiful guy fairly close up, he had to be a ‘he’, regally perched on a tree limb... then on the way back two hawks were in the center of the road... they lifted off at moi’s slow approach and began an ariel ballet of circling with each other overhead, but so that they were easily observed... they looked to be mates. Oh, it was gorgeous and inspiring.Inspiring is good because, mygawd!!! the increase in pure evil this big cat is witnessing these days around her and on the world stage... well, she would never have believed it, except that she’s living in the midst of it. It’s as if those who are puny and twisted inside are taking over more and more. Their fear of others and their fear of good is so immense, they do everything they can to ‘knock’ those who are good and big-hearted off their horse, so to speak.On the other paw, a really *good* thing occurred today. It used to be, when moi first learned to drive, it was a common practice for folks to let each other know when a policeman watched for speeders, or there was a speed trap up ahead. We would flash the brights on and off to let each other know.Well, that happened today as the Kougaress drove toward a tiny town. She doesn’t go over the speed limit anyway. However, it was so cool to have someone care enough to let her know... because sure enough, there was Mr. Policeman, and this Big Cat had made certain she was driving extra slowly. SO A BIG THANKS! To that lovely individual for caring.~~~

Be careful, darling Kittens, the ghoulish *big banks* are seizing homes that are completely paid for. Watch your precious backsides. There is SO MUCH FRAUD going on these days in the so-called mortgage/foreclosure industry, you could be targeted by these creepazoids. And, if your house is paid for, or mostly paid for, really WATCH OUT!!! Just like the fraud where older folks were/are targeted if their home was mostly paid for, and the bank knew they didn’t have the funds to fully pay off the mortgage, then the banks would call in the loan, and essentially steal the house.~~~~~~

The Front Yard GardenerFor those that can't find work, or are under employed, gardening is a great help. Many people grow gardens in their back yard, but I am here to tell you that a lawn in the front yard is like putting your money in a no interest bank account. Of course we garden in the back yard, but why allow the front yard to be lazy or just grow grass ? These days every penny counts, and every square foot of yard can help feed my family.This year, I grew 54 Acorn Squash in my front yard and most squash near 2 pounds each. I also grew herbs and bamboo along with many normal garden produce here in western Nebraska. Never buy what you can grow! I also plant along the riverbanks near my house. This is little different than when the Native American tribes followed the herds and scattered seed along creeks and then, when returning, they had crops to eat in the winter.--Bill Donzebill22_250@hotmail.com ~~~~~~

Warning ~ REALLY BAD NEWS!!! If you have a political view that is NOT POPULAR, then you are likely to have your child taken away. More and more, folks are losing their newborn babies, and their children, because they dare to have a political opinion. A couple who had merely posted on the Oathkeepers site [a group of veterans, military and police who are dedicated to keeping their oath to the Constitution and Bill of Rights] had their newborn daughter stolen by the police and CPS in New Hampshire. In the paperwork it states that their child was taken, in part, because of this couples’ supposed affiliation with Oathkeepers, and the couple aren’t even members. Furthermore, the other supposed charges against them are lies. This Big Cat has seen this happen over and over to other folks. Drugs were planted on one woman because a CPS worker wanted her children to adopt as her own. Plus, this Big Cat dealt with a government agency that made up so many lies about her, moi lost count. THIS IS EXACTLY the same scenario that occurred in NAZI Germany, and during other tyrannical/fascists regimes. How easy is it to control folks if you can just seize their children at any point in time? This reprehensible tactic is designed to force everyone to shut up. To not speak *their* truth. It is designed to force everyone to either shut up or ONLY speak the two-party line. ~~~~~~

Pumpkin Farmers Profit From Odd, Ugly VarietiesDAVID MERCER | 10/ 6/10 06:52 AM |AP articleCHAMPAIGN, Ill. — After decades of trying to grow perfect, round, orange pumpkins, farmers have found many people believe nothing says Halloween like a warty, twisted gourd in a weird color."Anything that's ugly or weird or unusual, it just sells like crazy," said Randy Graham, who grows 40 pumpkin varieties near Champaign, Ill.At least in part, the market shift reflects the commercial growth of Halloween, and the fall season surrounding it, farmers and others said. Popular arbiters of home style such as Martha Stewart regularly talk up unusual pumpkins on television and the Internet.And, U.S. farmers are growing hundreds of unusual varieties to satisfy consumers' desire for something new, plant breeder Jamie Hoffman said."We put a fair amount of effort into pumpkins that are not round and orange, something that's different," said Hoffman, who owns Outstanding Seed Company in Monaca, Pa. "Sometimes we get surprises – pumpkins that are multicolored and warted."The National Retail Federation estimates 68.5 million Americans will buy a pumpkin to carve this year, an increase of 5 percent in the past five years. In all, Americans will spend $1.63 billion on Halloween decorations, although it's unclear how much of that money will go toward odd pumpkins.But those who do spend have plenty of choices.Many of the unusual pumpkins are hybrids – combinations of other, existing varieties. But some farmers have begun growing heirloom varieties that buyers from a century ago might recognize, such as blue-green Jarrahdales from Australia and the reddish, flat-bodied Rouge Vif d'Etampes.There are also specially bred varieties the like warty Knucklehead. Hoffman pointed out a deep irony in their popularity. Warts are a dominant trait and, if pumpkins or their cousins the squash are left to breed on their own, warts will likely develop. Although they're harmless, Hoffman said breeders have long fought warts because they turned off customers."Plant breeders worked feverishly over the last 50 years to get rid of warts," he said.Now, breeders and farmers look at the lumpy disfigurations a little differently."Something unusual for Halloween, that maybe had warts and stripes – that'd be pretty cool," Hoffman said.Pumpkin breeding is done by hand, with breeders using pollen from one variety to pollinate another, he said. Most have a good idea of what they're shooting for and, in general, what they'll get based on the pumpkins they're working with.Hoffman, who opened his company six years ago, said he once dreamed of selling seeds for his hybrids at $25 a pound. Now, growers pay up to $200 a pound for something good, he said.Graham, the Illinois farmer, said that reflects consumers' willingness to pay more. When he was a child, pumpkins were an inexpensive tradition."You went to the grocery store and each child got a pumpkin – you carved it, you went trick or treating and that was that," he said.But in the past decade, he's seen people spend $50 or more on pumpkins and other Halloween decorations.John Ackerman grows 150 pumpkin varieties on his farm near Morton, a central Illinois community that bills itself as the pumpkin capital of the world. Libby, the brand that accounts for about 85 percent of the canned pumpkin sold in the U.S., grows all of its pumpkins around Morton.Ackerman started out part-time, growing big, beige Dickinson pumpkins for Libby to can. But in 1998, he grabbed a hundred or so that had grown too far down in a creek bed for mechanized pickers to reach and set them out in his yard."Amazingly, people started to stop and ask, 'Are those for sale?'" he said. "I think my reaction was, 'By golly, they are for sale.'"He's now a full-time farmer growing pumpkin varieties from all over the world."I'm always looking for that next, neat thing," Ackerman said. "Some of them are long and tall, some are deeply ribbed, some have (thick stem) handles."But not all the new varieties make for good eating, and Ackerman said he still has a soft spot for the pumpkins that got him into the business."That common old, beige-looking Dickinson pumpkin makes a pretty good pie," he said.~~~~~~

Microsoft Proposes Government Licensing Internet Access SEARCH TERM ~ government licensing internet ~ infowars.com/microsoft-proposes-government-licensing-internet-access ~ Paul Joseph WatsonInfowars.comThursday, October 7, 2010A new proposal by a top Microsoft executive would open the door for government licensing to access the Internet, with authorities being empowered to block individual computers from connecting to the world wide web under the pretext of preventing malware attacks.Speaking to the ISSE 2010 computer security conference in Berlin yesterday, Scott Charney, Microsoft vice president of Trustworthy Computing, said that cybersecurity should mirror public health safety laws, with infected PC’s being “quarantined” by government decree and prevented from accessing the Internet.“If a device is known to be a danger to the internet, the user should be notified and the device should be cleaned before it is allowed unfettered access to the internet, minimizing the risk of the infected device contaminating other devices,” Charney said.Charney said the system would be a “global collective defense” run by corporations and government and would “track and control” people’s computers similar to how government health bodies track diseases.Invoking the threat of malware attacks as a means of dissuading or blocking people from using the Internet is becoming a common theme – but it’s one tainted with political overtones.At the launch of the Obama administration’s cybersecurity agenda earlier this year, Democrats attempted to claim that the independent news website The Drudge Report was serving malware, an incident Senator Jim Inhofe described as a deliberate ploy “to discourage people from using Drudge”.Under the new proposals, not only would the government cite the threat of malware to prevent people from visiting Drudge, they would be blocked from the entire world wide web, creating a dangerous precedent by giving government the power to dictate whether people can use the Internet and effectively opening the door for a licensing system to be introduced.Similar to how vehicle inspections are mandatory for cars in some states before they can be driven, are we entering a phase where you will have to obtain a PC health check before a government IP czar will issue you with a license, or an Internet ID card, allowing you to access the web?Of course, the only way companies or the government could know when your system becomes infected with malware is to have some kind of mandatory software or firewall installed on every PC which sends data to a centralized hub, greasing the skids for warrantless surveillance and other invasions of privacy.Microsoft has been at the forefront of a bid to introduce Internet licensing as a means of controlling how people access and use the world wide web, an effort that has intensified over the course of the past year. ~~~~~~
