Unexpected side effect? Australia scraps Covid-19 vaccine development after trials lead to false positives for HIV

Australia has abandoned the development of a domestically-made coronavirus vaccine after participants in clinical trials for the jab returned false positive test results for HIV.

The drug, created by the University of Queensland (UQ) and biotech firm CSL, triggered a “robust” immune response to SARS-COV-2 in phase 1 trials, but it also led to some unfortunate complications involving another dangerous virus. Antibodies that were shielding participants from a Covid-19 infection were also leading to false positives on HIV tests.

Although no trial participant had actually contracted HIV, Australia’s Health Minister Greg Hunt acknowledged that the bizarre side-effect interferes with HIV screening. There is no known cure for the virus, which attacks the immune system, and if left untreated HIV can lead to AIDS.

NHS Commercial Terrifies Children by Showing Santa Dying of COVID

A television commercial for the NHS terrifies children by showing Santa Claus wheeled into hospital on the verge of dying from COVID.

Because frightening kids is definitely what the good guys do.

The advert “celebrates NHS staff and volunteers” by showing them nursing Father Christmas back to full health so he can deliver presents.

Entitled The Gift, the ad shows paramedics giving Santa oxygen as he looks to be at death’s door while being transported to a medical ward as one nurse asks, “Is he responding?”

The commercial then cuts to Santa waking up before he is slowly rehabilitated and subsequently receives a get well soon card from Rudolph the red nosed reindeer.

After passing some children, Santa is then seen responding to letters from hopeful kids.

The commercial is backed by a soppy soundtrack throughout.

Respondents to the video didn’t find it heartwarming at all.

“Disgusting video and one any children should not be seeing. Totally politicising COVID with Santa. What were you thinking. Complained to Ofcom already,” said one.

“If anyone thinks that this ad is either clever or funny or poignant they are sadly deluded,” said another.

“Should have shown the reality: A nurse passing the infection to a patient, discharging a Covid POS patient to a care home,” commented another.

‘Unprecedented’: Pentagon Cuts Support to CIA Counterterrorism Ops

The Pentagon announced Thursday it would cut support to most CIA counterterrorism operations throughout the globe, in an action described by MSM as a “surprising move.”

Reports claim Acting Defense Secretary Chris Miller sent a letter to CIA Director Gina Haspel Wednesday informing her the Department of Defense would be reviewing its military support of the clandestine agency.

Defense One reported Wednesday citing anonymous sources that DOD was reviewing whether military personnel assigned as “detail” to counterterrorism operators should instead be aiding efforts in near-peer nation states like Russia, or China.

Defense One notes the move was set in motion by “Trump loyalist” Acting Under Secretary of Defense for Intelligence Ezra Cohen-Watnick, who was appointed to the position last month by President Trump two days after Election Day.
