Costuming and Cowgirl Instincts

While not exactly a representation of a cowgirl costume this Big Cat cowgirl would want to don for a Halloween party... nevertheless, the spirit of this Texas Centennial poster is yahoo-wonderful. But, wouldn't it be yippee-fun to dress up as your fave cowgirl?

Late night yahoo and yowls, my splendiferous and spooktacular Felines... a warmy-breezy Autumn day on the tame prairie... but, gosh, the fallen leaves are unbelievably dry and crinkly, and the ground is powder dry in some spots.

Costuming and Cowgirl Instincts... costumes, as many will tell you -- as actors will tell you when they dress for a part... costumes often bring out, or enhance a side of you that may not be, either accepted in current society...or simply is not being expressed for ‘whatever’ myriad of reasons... often costumes allow you to be who you are... and that brings this Big Cat to her COWGIRL INSTINCTS. She’s written about this in several Western bloggies for her book... how much she adored wearing her Annie Oakley costume as a kid, and running the neighborhood, wild and free -- her toy pistols ready to be drawn, or already drawn. Of course, not many in Suburbia appreciated her wild tendencies, and her tomboy ways. Yep, squashed down, her wild spirit crushed -- that was the awful day-to-day reality. So now, as the world turns faster, and sheer craziness rules more often than not -- how much does the Kougaress wish she’d followed her cowgirl instincts far more than she did, and to HELL with anyone who sought to slap her down... and keep her down?

If she’d followed that wild and fierce spirit, learned to shoot like an expert, learned about the land, how to really ride the land, how to ranch and farm ‘without’ the horrors and supposed advances of Big Agriculture... well, that seems like a far better way to live. So, what triggered the penning of these feelings on today’s post... in part, it was Kathy Otten’s blog at SWEETHEARTS OF THE WEST featured below.

Authoress news and mews ~

Mainly a promo day for the Kougar. She does enjoy creating an artistic looking presentation for Kandy Apple and Her Hellhounds, as she’s able... but, yowls, time seems to be disappearing way too fast. ~big sighs~

Cool cowgirl note: doing an i-search the Kougar just now stumbled onto a book titled, COWGIRL RISING... yes, yes, yes! Soul Rising. Renegades Rising, Aphrodite Rising... as the Kougar has blogged about before in regard to the AWAKENING... so, this is absolutely purr-fect, too.

RIP Castiel
by Pat Cunningham

I guess it’s as official as fiction can get: according to the producers of Supernatural, Castiel, the boys’ angel buddy, has indeed walked off into the sunset – or, in this case, into the city reservoir – and out of the story and off the show. Even though he’s become a fan favorite since his introduction three years ago, even though the actor who portrays him, Misha Collins, is a huge draw at cons and on Twitter, Castiel’s story is over and done and the character is apparently kaput. Guess nobody’s job is safe in this economy, not even an angel’s.

HANG FIRE - CAN YOUR HERO LOAD HIS PEACEMAKER?

By Kathy Otten

This short article is Part Two of last month’s blog, Gunmen and Peacemakers. It comes from information I accumulated for my newest work-in-progress.

In my new WIP novel my hero carries a brand new 1873 Colt Single Action Army revolver. At one point the heroine tries to shoot someone with it, but when she pulls the trigger nothing happens. In order to write this teensy part of the scene I needed to learn how to load and fire this gun.
