Okay, I couldn’t resist showing it off. Yesterday, I received my ‘official’ cover art for STALLION OF ASH AND FLAME, my next release from Siren-BookStrand, coming in Fall 2009.
Jinger Heaston is the cover artist and has designed most of my previous cover art. I am continually in awe of Jinger’s creativity and the different works of art she comes up with as the cover artist for Siren-BookStrand.
This time, I got to work with Jinger personally on the final version. Not only is Jinger professional and willing to listen, she’s fun.~~~
Nope, no official release date yet. The excitement mounts... uh, oh... mounts. Trail accomplishes that exceptionally well with his Seneca.~~~~~~

Surreptitiously, she let her mind wander in his direction again. Zeke and Ranson still ‘discussed’ things with the Long Walker. “Still okay?” Marina whispered.
Zeke felt cooperation loosen the Long Walker’s resisting body. “Superior observations,” the man repeated. “Yeah, I got a few. You ain’t gonna like one of them, Ranson. Saw your father speakin’ real private like with Olaf Thorenson shortly before I left town on your trail. Oakes is his messenger boy.” Zeke glanced at Ranson. Nothing flickered in his gaze. “Hear anything important?” Ranson neutrally growled. “Nope. Saw ‘em shake hands on an agreement. Also saw a Secret Circle coin that Oakes dropped when he was fishin’ in his pocket. Retrieved it like it was nothin’ special. Pretended I didn’t see.”

An Owl, the Moon & Jupiter
I was in Immokalee, Florida doing some work and I was looking down at some equipment. A bird shadow passed across my field of vision. I knew it was an owl! I looked up on the wire and there it was. I couldn't have asked for better conditions.

Good moisture-filled evening, good and wise Big Cats all. The Kougar pulled off the impossible, or so it seemed to her. Nothing big, mind you. Merely, a replenishing of things needed kind of trip, the grocery store, etc. However, given the strained painful state of moi’s leg she had no clue if she could manage, or what the resulting damage would be to her leg.
This is nothing new in the Kougaress’s life... these types of impossible situations. Nope. She wishes it was something new. Except on one paw, she has a history of managing, somehow, to get through these times. Only, these days, they are more fast and furious in appearance.
In this Big Cat’s opinion it’s a sign of the times. More and more of us are facing the impossible. Impossible-looking situations and choices. And, honestly, they are impossible. Except, by the grace of the Divine and because of who we are, we somehow persevere and get through. Yep, true grit as in the movie by that name.
This isn’t a feel-good, pep you up kind of post, though. Since it’s this Big Cat’s experience that really doesn’t work after a certain point of repeatedly facing THE IMPOSSIBLE in life.
What does work? Moi has no idea. Truly.
Maybe, the only thing that does work during these times is TRUE GRIT. Whatever that is??? The Kougaress has no real idea what this is, either. Shruggies...
Meow... true grit... it’s worth thinking about.
Yowl, the world is heading for a showdown with itself. Injustice has taken hold to such a huge degree justice will fight back.~~~

Instantly, Zeke and Ranson rushed after him, jerking the door open. “Oh no!” Sylva burst out, and began sliding out of the booth. “Stay here, Sylva,” Marina warned in a protective manner. “Big brother can take care of himself.” Grant patted her hand. She’d planted it on the table to propel herself toward the door. “Zeke will be back right quick. They just need a little conversation.” Sylva decided to stay put. “Conversation? Who was that man?”
Zeke plunged the business end of this pistol beneath the Long Walker’s ribs while Ranson twisted his arm behind his back and pressed the muzzle of his pistol against’s the man’s kidneys. “Talk,” Zeke ordered. “And not about the weather.” Cool to his core and typical of his breed, the Long Walker gave a minimal shrug with the shoulder that was still free from restraint. “I was paid to tail your friend here. That’s all I know. Figured I’d make more cashola if I discovered why he was makin’ buddy eyes at you, given your past enmity.” Zeke wasn’t buying.

But there it was. And he’d asked. Lowering her gaze, she offered. “As long as it’s safe, yes, why not?” Feeling Zeke’s intense gaze, Sylva slowly raised her face to him, again. “It’s merely a resonance reading of your body’s outline. There’s no penetration by frequencies, if that’s what’s botherin’ you, darlin’.” Sylva couldn’t help but give him a smile. “On this Earth I can believe that.” Just to satisfy herself, she added, “I don’t think any technology that interfered with the longevity of people would be allowed, would it, cowboy?”
Zeke shook his head ‘no’. “Absolutely not. Whoever perpetrated that fraud would be shot dead in no time. And faster if it harmed womenfolk.” Dang, if he didn’t feel like reaching for his sidearm now. Instead, he brought her hand to his lips and pressed a kiss. “I’ll be waitin’ right here. Won’t take but a few minutes.” Reaching down for her shoulders, Zeke caressed, then gently faced his wife toward a small lounge area. “See that camera-looking machine, darlin’. You just slowly turn a full circle. That’s all there is to it. Bethanne makes certain the image is complete.”

The result, peering through the thick layers of foliage.

A surprising amount of lather bubbled up. “Cool,” she whispered. Hoping it was an all-body wash she carefully applied small amounts, bathing herself. So relaxed she could hardly stand it, Sylva floated and wondered about Zeke.
Zeke pocketed the messager after sending inquiries to everyone he could think of, for any info on what Ranson was up to. In the meantime, he had a wife and a honeymoon waiting. And sundown wasn’t that far off. After tapping his knuckles on the door frame, Zeke strolled toward his languidly floating bride, who emerged from the water, then reclined like a goddess beauty holding court. “Not ‘that’ jar.” he teased. “Why? What’s wrong with it?” Her genuine worry made him regret his words. “Only that it will make you that more fetching to your husband. Plundering you becomes irresistible.”

Sylva tried to see everything around her, and at the same time, her cowboy possessed her full attention. The boutique-like shops they passed had exquisite and eclectic displays of jewelry, clothing and art. “When Royce finally beat me and Bobby McBeal in the bull riding competition, it was his destiny turning point. He practiced on every bull he could find, and focused on becoming the best.” Recalling the little she knew about bull riding, Sylva asked, “How many bones has he broken?” Zeke halted, facing her fully. “He’s taken dozens of hard spills, cracked his noggin, but no broken bones.”
Zeke cocked his head in puzzlement. “No broken bones,” she repeated, her gaze perplexed. “Sylva, no one breaks bones here anymore.” She stepped back, astonished. Zeke steadied her, gradually bringing her close. “How is that possible?” she murmured. “Once the effect of nutrition on genes was studied, it was simple to create supplements, then fertilize the soil. Everything grown here has been designed to enhance health in a natural way.” Zeke answered her inquisitive expression. “Yes, what we had for dinner.” She blinked after a long moment. “Fascinating. Will it work on me?” Zeke grinned reassuringly, cupping her shoulders. “Absolutely, darlin’.”

Sylva trembled involuntarily. “And if I’m from another world, why are you speaking English?” He grinned for a breath, his gaze searing into hers. “Parallel worlds, as we figure it here.” He leaned forward, his fingertips grazing over her cheek before he slid his hand through her hair. “Oh...SUV, it’s a type of vehicle.” Damn, were her lungs racing breaths against each other? “You were in its path?” he asked, a low deep whisper that tingled her earlobe. “Yes.” She’d leaned closer without knowing it. “Then you were in my path.” His tone seductively teased her senses. Sylva whimpered.
Zeke darkened with lust at her whimper. Drawing in the fragrances clinging to her skin, and to her chestnut golden hair, he palmed her shoulder gently. They would have to learn about each other later. Even his gratitude for her arrival was reined up short. He skimmed his hand toward her neck, the feel of her shoulder causing a groan to escape against her ear. “Sylva, don’t be afraid,” he encouraged. “I swear your bride’s pleasure will come first.” A hitch interrupted her little gasps. “Bride? What does that mean...here?” Zeke cupped her head. “You’re about to find out.”
