Stallion of Ash and Flame ~ the Cover Art

What do you think, my adored Big Kittens? Of course, the Kougar is a dancing happy author girl with Jinger Heaston’s design. The couple perfectly represents Trail and Seneca. The fiery stallion is Trail when he phases into a stallion of flame to devour the towering blazes that rage through the national forest.
Since moi is blogging today, Thursday, September 10th, at THE ROMANCE STUDIO, her new cover art is featured. If you’d like to know how the design represents the story, claw click on over ~

Here’s the beginning ~

Proud Owner of New Cover Art

Okay, I couldn’t resist showing it off. Yesterday, I received my ‘official’ cover art for STALLION OF ASH AND FLAME, my next release from Siren-BookStrand, coming in Fall 2009.
Jinger Heaston is the cover artist and has designed most of my previous cover art. I am continually in awe of Jinger’s creativity and the different works of art she comes up with as the cover artist for Siren-BookStrand.
This time, I got to work with Jinger personally on the final version. Not only is Jinger professional and willing to listen, she’s fun.

Nope, no official release date yet. The excitement mounts... uh, oh... mounts. Trail accomplishes that exceptionally well with his Seneca.

X-Serial Flash in Two Hundred ~ Sylva and Zeke’s story continues...

Part 256 ~

Sylva felt like knives twisted inside her as she watched Marina nod. She’d managed to do exactly what she wasn’t supposed to do. There was no going back to rectify it, either. Marina and Grant were far from stupid. They realized she had some sort of psychic ability. Hunching her shoulders a bit, she wished Zeke would return. He’d know how to handle the situation, probably. Not to mention she’d know for certain he was safe. Surreptitiously, she let her mind wander in his direction again. Zeke and Ranson still ‘discussed’ things with the Long Walker. “Still okay?” Marina whispered.

Zeke felt cooperation loosen the Long Walker’s resisting body. “Superior observations,” the man repeated. “Yeah, I got a few. You ain’t gonna like one of them, Ranson. Saw your father speakin’ real private like with Olaf Thorenson shortly before I left town on your trail. Oakes is his messenger boy.” Zeke glanced at Ranson. Nothing flickered in his gaze. “Hear anything important?” Ranson neutrally growled. “Nope. Saw ‘em shake hands on an agreement. Also saw a Secret Circle coin that Oakes dropped when he was fishin’ in his pocket. Retrieved it like it was nothin’ special. Pretended I didn’t see.”

The Rising of New Atlantis

The cover art for MURDER BY HAIR SPRAY IN GARDENIA, NEW ATLANTIS has risen, thanks to the talent of Jinger Heaston...and the Kougar is so in love...wiggle, roll and scriggle on the carpet...while smiling like a foolish cat girl with an eye for a bad boy tomcat...
But purr-seriously, New Atlantis rises, a glorious new land, in Jinger Heaston’s cover art creation. This is the first glimpse of the Kougar’s story about the future on 2051 Earth. Also, this is the first glimpse of Kalypso and Zryphus, who save the future of New Atlantis, all while battling the Hair Spray Killer, and battling each other over love and passion.
After all IT HAPPENED ONE NIGHT for Clark Gable and Claudette Colbert.
IT HAPPENS ONE NIGHT for Zryphus and Kalypso, too.
Note: *IT* is particularly large and dominating.

Atlantis...it’s not just a legend anymore...

Sheriff Kalypso Sun Wing, 100 years old in the year 2051, never knew why she survived the cataclysmic land changes. Or the Conflicts when she battled for freedom beside those who shouted ‘Don’t Tread on Me’. Until the rising of Atlantis, and she began New Atlantis with a group of rebels.
Zerculeon, Zryphus Vasquoz chose an enforcement career with Earth’s Federal Union for several reasons–his fascination with primitive worlds, to make his own way outside the family heritage, and to keep official watch for his own Worlds.
Once he gets an eyeful of the Sheriff, as they investigate the Hair Spray serial murder, Zryphus knows he’s found the woman he wants to marry. Despite her cold disinterest.
When the Hair Spray Killer stalks Kalypso, Zryphus won’t let her out of his sight, or his bed.

Happy New Year... on another Earth

Serial Flash in Two Hundred ~

Part 19 ~

Sylva trembled involuntarily. “And if I’m from another world, why are you speaking English?” He grinned for a breath, his gaze searing into hers. “Parallel worlds, as we figure it here.” He leaned forward, his fingertips grazing over her cheek before he slid his hand through her hair. “Oh...SUV, it’s a type of vehicle.” Damn, were her lungs racing breaths against each other? “You were in its path?” he asked, a low deep whisper that tingled her earlobe. “Yes.” She’d leaned closer without knowing it. “Then you were in my path.” His tone seductively teased her senses. Sylva whimpered.

Zeke darkened with lust at her whimper. Drawing in the fragrances clinging to her skin, and to her chestnut golden hair, he palmed her shoulder gently. They would have to learn about each other later. Even his gratitude for her arrival was reined up short. He skimmed his hand toward her neck, the feel of her shoulder causing a groan to escape against her ear. “Sylva, don’t be afraid,” he encouraged. “I swear your bride’s pleasure will come first.” A hitch interrupted her little gasps. “Bride? What does that mean...here?” Zeke cupped her head. “You’re about to find out.”

When a Good Angel Falls ~ Cover Art

The Magical Invitation of Cover Art

Just for your Big Cat shiny eyes from the Kougar...
One of the best things about walking into a bookstore for me, besides all of those fantastic books just begging to be read, is the magical invitation of cover art. Yes, there’s also the wonderful smell of all those books, tempting and teasing all of us bookaholics. There they sit on their shelves and endcaps, in the bargain bins, waiting to find their right homes, ready to be ensconced in our shopping bags.
But before I choose which ones to buy, whether it’s an adventurous escape into romance or my eclectic appetite for non-fiction, anything from travel to building that next deck, I look at the pictures, those amazing displays of graphic art.
I saunter around the shrine of reading and indulge in all those rows of cover art. Today, more than ever, it’s a kaleidoscopic feast of styles, meant to tempt you to pick up that book and buy, buy, buy. Usually, I don’t unless the accompanying blurb and a quick peek inside convince me...yep, this read is for me. Once in awhile, I’ll succumb and purchase just for the cover art, if it resonates at such a deep level I can’t resist.
Yup, even as a kidlet before kindergarten I wanted the irresistible eye candy of those big picture books as much as I wanted to hear my mom or dad read the story. What could be better than living the tale and seeing it unfold as the artist imagined the story? All at the same time? That has never changed or me. Growing up, I was usually as excited over the cover art and pictures as I was eager to read the story waiting for me, the one that would wisk me away to another time, another place.
Now, in the age of cyber cover art, I’m in a beautiful-color paradise of images designed to catch my eye and lure me to the click-buy button. From the lovely sensual romance cover art of our Friday guest blogger, Sarah Mallory – to the exquisite sizzling beauty of the vampire slayer on Colleen Gleason’s cover art – or the more traditional oh-be-still-my-beating-heart covers on Anna Campbell’s novels (I always feel like swooning into the hero’s hard, but tender embrace) – to our Helen’s cover art for The Magic Knot. Which, I swear, grabs me more each time I look at it. Perhaps, it’s the celtic lyrical magic of the images combined with the realism of the entwined couple. That feel of mythos brought forward into modern times, which has an enchantment-appeal all its own to our psyches, where archetypes live and constantly weave their spells inside us. Hey, think Xena, Warrior Princess or Hercules with Kevin Sorbo, where the gods and goddesses were on their worst behavior and their best behavior.
Okay, why a blog about cover art? Gee, I dunno...could it be? Could it?
Yeah, big surprise, I’m showing off my cover art for When a Good Angel Falls, coming from Siren-BookStrand late in 2008, and currently featured on the new BookStrand site. Jinger Heaston is the cover artist and I think she beautifully captured my story. I couldn’t be happier. Kudos, Jinger!
Blurb for When a Good Angel Falls ~ 2012 futuristic ~
A world-weary, worn-out, incarnated angel who believes she is merely human has three choices: let the Nazerazzi of the North American Union capture her, walk out into the desert night and let the wildlife have a meal, or trust a mysterious stranger on a black motorcycle...More ~
