If you are considering publishing your book on the Amazon Kindle you may want to be aware of the 9.99 Boycott. This is a movement within the community of Kindle readers that, not only refuses to buy e-books priced above $9.99, but also will assign negative tags to your books with titles such as “outrageous Kindle price”, “too expensive for Kindle”, “greedy publisher”, or “9.99 boycott”. And the more your book sells the more these tags are voted on. Some of the boycotters will go as far as leaving one star reviews on your books based solely on the price.

Where did this number come from? Apparently when Amazon got started with a Kindle device that cost $400 their sales pitch was that readers could save $20 per book by buying e-books at $10 ($9.99) instead of the hard cover for $30.

In a follow-up to the gruesome news on yesterday’s blog, at first a representative for Pepsico verified their use of fetal tissue in their products. However, now the company is saying they are using fetal cells ‘only’ for testing food additives... so, what is the truth? And, who would trust them as a corporation, or trust the corrupt FDA’s approval process? Regardless of what the truth is. Not to mention this Big Cat CERTAINLY DOES NOT want such testing done on aborted tissue. Not only is it unnecessary, it demonstrates NO RESPECT, absolutely no respect for human life. Yes, this Big Cat is for a woman’s right to choose. However, this practice of using fetal tissue in this way is utterly immoral and highly dangerous to the health of human beings. Also, sadly, women have been used and abused by what has become the abortion industry, used and abused in the most reprehensible ways.

You know that just makes me mad. One star reviews and negative tags, because some people don't like the price of an ebook? Really, just don't buy the book. Lack of sales will make an impact on a writer, but for the 9.99 Boycott crowd to trash a book they've never even read...just please. :(
Serena, I know. It's horrible for authors because it's the Big Boy publishers who are, in general, pricing ebooks this high. Amazon has no control over that. However, they should never have made that kind of promise. Amazon thought they could dictate price to publishers, but they lost that legal battle.
