This coterie of artists, he explained, consisted of about two dozen LA-based musicians that were highly skilled at playing rock music in the 1960's. This proficiency led to record labels having them play in the recording studio rather than actual members of many well known rock bands. Since the band members provided the vocals and went on tour performing the songs, Hartman said, the record companies "didn't feel like they were totally lying to you."Hartman detailed a number of instances where classic songs featured the Wrecking Crew's work instead of the actual bands which were credited with having played the music, including the Beach Boys' "Good Vibrations" as well as the Grass Roots' "Midnight Confession". He also shared the story of how producers actually refused to allow the Byrds to record "Mr. Tambourine Man," since they were considered "novices and incapable of playing at studio quality." As such, the album version of the song consists of the Wrecking Crew's work alongside Roger McGuinn, the only band member allowed to participate. Hartman noted that the recording of the song only took a handful of takes. A longing for beauty... The Kougaress was looking out her fave window, and enjoying the beauty of her tame prairie. She experienced this painful longing for more beauty in her life, to live the beautiful life she envisioned for herself, once upon a time. In her follow-up reflections, she thought of all the horror GMO crops that are destroying Mother Earth, the beauty of her human population, destroying her plants and the soils they live in, and destroying the animals/insects... like the honeybees... and she had to wonder: Why kill the beauty of Mother Nature? Why kill beauty at all? No 'being' in their right mind would do this, except as a simple matter of survival as in a predator catching prey to eat. But, why this insane compulsion to destroy beauty? But then, there are some people who will bring another individual down simply because they are jealous, envious, and can't achieve to that individual's level. Some people will destroy what they don't understand. While the Kougaress certainly enjoys the trappings of beauty, inner beauty has only been more important to her. In these times, it has became more than obvious that there are so many who don't understand inner beauty. BIG CAT COMMENTARY ~ In a follow-up to the gruesome news on yesterday’s blog, at first a representative for Pepsico verified their use of fetal tissue in their products. However, now the company is saying they are using fetal cells ‘only’ for testing food additives... so, what is the truth? And, who would trust them as a corporation, or trust the corrupt FDA’s approval process? Regardless of what the truth is. Not to mention this Big Cat CERTAINLY DOES NOT want such testing done on aborted tissue. Not only is it unnecessary, it demonstrates NO RESPECT, absolutely no respect for human life. Yes, this Big Cat is for a woman’s right to choose. However, this practice of using fetal tissue in this way is utterly immoral and highly dangerous to the health of human beings. Closing in on midnight meows, my precious and pretty Autumn Felines... nippy-cold, but a beautiful blue-sky day on the tame prairie after the rains... last night the moon was utterly spectacular as she hung, creamy white and nearly full, in the eastern sky... So, the Kougaress discovered a flat tire... oh yeah, what funsies... however, she got out her seal foam stuff, used that successfully [she has several cans and will now purchase more]... although getting the darn can to unscrew, what a chore! And she has an air compressor, and managed to fill the tire. It seemed to hold and be fine... but, who knows???~~~~~~

BIG CAT RANT ~ To Amazon or not to Amazon? That is the question facing this Big Cat. One reason the Kougaress does not and will not shop at Wal-Mart, except in a rare emergency situation, is because of the poor way they treat their employees. Well, it seems as though workers at Amazon’s warehouse are being treated poorly in several ways. The Kougaress would like to do business with Amazon for several reasons... but what now? What a nasty quandary for this Big Cat with likely no good resolution. It’s not like there are good options out there in this supposed free market economy. Yeah, what an effing joke that is. Why companies actually believe it is good policy to treat their workers badly, this Big Cat has no clue. It’s not like most of us, even if we are not wealthy, would object to paying a bit more for the sake of the workers. Good gosh. Of course, that isn’t the fundamental problem in this game of big corp profit. No, at the core it’s a power game. It’s a control game. Sunday into Monday purrs, my Autumnal glorious Kittens... a moist and warm-windy day on the tame prairie... rain threatened, but never arrived... darn it! Last night the moon, as she set in the west, had become golden-orange splendor veiled by black clouds, in a sky with no stars... it was eerily beautiful. Meanwhile, the Bedazzler UFO appeared high in the sky in its usual spot, but where the Kougaress could easily observe it changing positions, and changing it’s form. So weird, huh? ~~~~~~
Yes, this Big Cat ‘slightly’ felt the Oklahoma earthquake last night, around eleven. Her chair strangely swayed from side to side for several moments... and she could find no sign the chair was weakening, or about to break... and weirder was the tingling in her legs when she stood up and walked around to find out what was happening because she did wonder if it could be an earthquake... however, the slight swaying stopped and it wasn’t until much later when someone called into COAST TO COAST am from Wichita, Kansas, and reported the Oklahoma earthquake -- that this Big Cat realized it was an earthquake she felt. ~~~

Waking Up to a Man-Wolf by Savanna Kougar Still deep in slumber-landia, but beginning to awaken, Shauna rubbed her cheek against thick luscious fur. The warm silky fur coat felt delicious against her skin. Shauna smiled as she snuggled the side of her face deeper, and continued rubbing. Hearing a rumbled groan that reminded her of low thunder, Shauna stilled. The hair on the nape of her neck stood on end. She raised upward, her eyelids popping open, wide open.
With the dregs of sleep hampering her voice box, Shauna could only gasp. Staggered, she stared as a shriek of terror froze in her throat.A real live wolf met her gaze, and sleepily regarded her with dark amber eyes. Not just your regular variety of wolf either, but one apparently attached to what could only be described as a long, tall wolf humanoid body. A fully equipped body with... well, good-sized male equipment. ~~~

That meowed, it is also what is currently a hot trend like manlove romances have been. Some agent (not mine) said once that the success of a book is more a matter of luck than anything. If anyone really knew what makes something catch fire, they'd be the richest person on the planet in short order. Everyone talks about buzz, but no one knows how to generate it. It seems to be something that erupts out of thin air. When all's said and done, we writers can only fall back on the single thing we can control--the writing.~~~

Authoress news and mews ~ Okay, this Big Cat i-searched Old West Saloon art for a short story, which could turn into a long story, but that’s another story... she discovered this current-day, western-cool artist, Ray McCarty, who has, unknown to him. painted some of her future heroines... or, how the Kougar envisions them before her mind’s eye. Curiously, the painting above, titled Savannah, bears a strong resemblance to this Big Cat when she was younger. Talk about a more than interesting synchronicity. The Kougar is reading through and ‘improving’ RED LIONESS TAMED. Neutrinos sent through the ground from CERN toward a laboratory hundreds of miles away seemed to show up a tiny fraction of a second early.In BBC News, Jason Palmer quotes researcher Antonio Ereditato as saying, "We tried to find all possible explanations for this. We wanted to find a mistake--trivial mistakes, more complicated mistakes, or nasty effects--and we didn't. When you don't find anything, then you say 'Well, now I'm forced to go out and ask the community to scrutinize this.'"This breakthrough could eventually lead to a future discovery of how to time travel. ~~~~~~

Secret of koala bellow revealedBy Victoria Gill Science reporter, BBC Nature~ bbc.co.uk/nature/15088320The loud, grumbling bellow that emerges from a male koala sounds very unlike that of a cute, laid-back creature.Now scientists have discovered the anatomy behind the strange sound that males make during mating season.Male koalas have very long vocal tracts - structures in their throats that produce the sounds.Their vocal tract anatomy is so unusually specialised, in fact, that they are able to make sounds that make them sound far larger than they are.The study, reported in the Journal of Experimental Biology, used medical imaging to reveal that a male koala's voice box, or larynx, sits very low in its throat. This "descended larynx" was thought to be a uniquely human feature - something that allows us to make the sounds we need for speech.It was only in 2001 that scientists found that red deer also had a descended larynx. Its discovery in koalas now supports the theory that it evolved in even more branches of the evolutionary tree, probably to allow males to distinguish themselves vocally from females.The researchers studied the koalas at a sanctuary called Lone Pine in Queensland, Australia.As well as recording their bellows, the team also carried out a medical scan on one male koala, which revealed the marsupial's strange vocal anatomy."A permanently descended larynx hasn't been documented in marsupials before," said Ben Charlton from the University of Vienna, Austria, who led the study. "It was believed that only humans had [this, and] that it was an essential adaptation for the creation of vowel sounds."Dr Charlton explained to BBC Nature that the thing that made koalas "sound big" was not the just the very low pitch of their bellows, but the "quality" of the sound coming from their long vocal tract.The effect works like a musical instrument; when an animal's "voice box" vibrates to make a sound, this sound echoes inside the tube that is its vocal tract. The dimensions of the tube change the sound.So a violin and a cello can make a sound that is exactly the same pitch, but the cello sounds very different - richer and larger.The sound of a koala's call, the researchers found, would "predict" a vocal tract length of 50cm. This is almost the entire body length of a koala. So when they bellow, the animals sound bigger than a bison.The medical scans also revealed a muscle deep in the koala's chest that the researchers think might pull the voice box even further down into its chest cavity as they bellow, enabling them to exaggerate their size even more.Dr Charlton explained that koalas had evolved to "sound big", "probably because it's important for intimidating other males."There is also some evidence that the bellows attract females.Red deer stag (Image: Simon King/ NPL) Red deer also have a descended larynx, a feature which had been thought to be unique to humansDavid Reby is a psychologist from the University of Sussex in the UK who specialises in mammal communication. He led the team that, 10 years ago, discovered male red deer had a descended larynx.Dr Reby explained how this study in koalas added to the wider evolutionary story of vocal communication. Finding out why male koalas evolved to make such deep, grumbling bellows could help us understand why male and female humans have very different voices, he said."Men have a 20% longer vocal tract than women," Dr Reby said. "To find out the evolutionary origin of this, we need to better understand how these [differences] evolved in other species."That's why Ben's work is really exciting, because he's not only studying other mammals but also marsupials."The scientists would ultimately like to take live scans of the animals as they bellow - internal snapshots of what happens as they produce sound.Dr Reby commented: "It would be difficult, but if we could get some good footage, we'd be able to figure out what was really going on." ~~~~~~
