Okay, my adored Big Cats, how ubiquitous are hellhounds in our world? Sure-meow, it’s heading toward Halloween at a ‘quickening’ pace and more of the enormous creatures are bounding about in anticipation. Still, how popular are these doggie beasties from the Underworld these days?
The Kougar has not done any extensive research on this question. She first became aware of the hellhound mythos by reading Sherlock Holmes mysteries, one of them being THE HOUND OF THE BASKERVILLES... yep, a giant malevolent ghost hound, still the idea was there.
Not being a horror film afficianado moi has remained on the fringes of Hellhound-landia. A while back, however, she read a blurb and excerpt of a shifter story featuring a hellhound hero. And being a canine lover, well, the idea of hellhound heroes stuck in her writer’s brain.
The synchronicity? Last night on Coast-to-Coast am, nighttime radio, R. Gary Patterson was a first hour guest. He discussed the cold case murder of one of the Rolling Stones. Mr. Patterson has been on Coast several times talking about high strangeness and everything paranormal in the rock star world... utterly compelling and fascinating, of course! And endless food for thought concerning how our world really operates. It ain’t how it appears.
However-yowls, the synchronicity is Mr. Patterson’s mention of his book, HELLHOUNDS ON THEIR TRAIL... and the Kougar was, penning her own Halloween Hellhound tale... hmmm... definitely spooky action at a distance...~~~~~~

Now ~ FIRST! just for the big cool cats ~Happy Courtship on another EarthX-Serial Flash in Two Hundred ~ Sylva and Zeke’s story continues...Part 253 ~Sylva felt her heart sink to her toes, even though, somehow she knew Zeke was still okay. “Employers,” she murmured, wishing she was armed and as confident as Marina. She hadn’t changed the direction of her aim, yet seemed relaxed. Alertly relaxed. “Will you teach me how to shoot?” Sylva asked her on impulse. “Don’t you worry, I know Zeke will teach you. We’ll all train you to handle every weapon there is. If big brother ever falls down on the job, I’m your woman.” Marina gave her a warm smile. “Sylva, the parents are over the moon about you.”
Zeke shoved the pistol harder beneath the Long Walker’s ribs. “Depends on what you got to say. Normally, I’m a peace-lovin’ man.” He eased the trigger back. “Being a threat to my bride, you’re steppin’ in treacherous waters.” The Long Walker tried pulling in a deeper breath. “Your bride was my target. Not to harm. Just to observe. That’s what I was paid for. Followed Ranson, knowing he’d find you and make contact. So I was told.” Ranson slightly eased his pressure on the Long Walker’s arm, but didn’t un-cock his pistol. “Who paid you? I’m not a peace-lovin’ man.”

Summer-chirping evening and hello purrs to all my bold sumptuous KitKats. The Kougar has gone and done it. Though, it may not actualize itself immediately. Who knows? The Halloween WIP ~ Kandy Apple for Halloween ~ has made itself real. Moi penned the opening scene of her hellhound heroes, twins. They chase down a very bad guy and take him down to where he belongs, the Underworld of Hades, their boss.
Kandace, or Kandy, the witch has her own *good deeds done by magic* gig and attends an uppercrust party for the purpose of halting a villain. Where moi’s hellhound heroes exclaim as one ~ a spooky little girl like you... yep, lust has them you know where.
The Kougar was supposed to be working on BRANDED. However leg pain and mental exhaustion intervened. Beginning a story is often easier than thinking through the next scene of a current story, especially one with lots of sexual passion. And, sometimes, moi just needs a breakie.
Anyhoo... mew, this Big Cat girl decided to write what she could for the time being.~~~~~~
Now ~ FIRST! just for the big cool cats ~Happy Courtship on another EarthX-Serial Flash in Two Hundred ~ Sylva and Zeke’s story continues...Part 252 ~Sylva gazed expectantly at Marina and Grant. “He’s what we call a Long Walker,” Marina answered. “They’re hired guns who spy on a rival and go after business information. In rare situations they’re hired to set up a situation where they murder a foe by making it appear like a fair gunfight.” Sylva nodded, swallowing. “So if he’s spying, why come inside the diner?” she asked. Grant directed his full gaze upon her. “I think he was lookin’ to see how Zeke and Ranson would react to his presence. That’ll tell him a lot, far as his employers are concerned.”
Zeke dug the end of his barrel into the Long Walker’s side. “If you don’t start tellin’ me something that rings true, I imagine my trigger finger will get awfully impatient and parts of you are going to turn into a downright bloody mess.” Ranson inched the Long Walker’s arm up his back and he suppressed his groans of pain. “Past enmity doesn’t count in this situation. I want to know who you’re workin’ for. Why you’re tailin’ me. Now.” Ranson cocked his pistol. “If I talk, you two gonna let me go on my way and no harm done?”

An Owl, the Moon & Jupiter
I was in Immokalee, Florida doing some work and I was looking down at some equipment. A bird shadow passed across my field of vision. I knew it was an owl! I looked up on the wire and there it was. I couldn't have asked for better conditions.

Good moisture-filled evening, good and wise Big Cats all. The Kougar pulled off the impossible, or so it seemed to her. Nothing big, mind you. Merely, a replenishing of things needed kind of trip, the grocery store, etc. However, given the strained painful state of moi’s leg she had no clue if she could manage, or what the resulting damage would be to her leg.
This is nothing new in the Kougaress’s life... these types of impossible situations. Nope. She wishes it was something new. Except on one paw, she has a history of managing, somehow, to get through these times. Only, these days, they are more fast and furious in appearance.
In this Big Cat’s opinion it’s a sign of the times. More and more of us are facing the impossible. Impossible-looking situations and choices. And, honestly, they are impossible. Except, by the grace of the Divine and because of who we are, we somehow persevere and get through. Yep, true grit as in the movie by that name.
This isn’t a feel-good, pep you up kind of post, though. Since it’s this Big Cat’s experience that really doesn’t work after a certain point of repeatedly facing THE IMPOSSIBLE in life.
What does work? Moi has no idea. Truly.
Maybe, the only thing that does work during these times is TRUE GRIT. Whatever that is??? The Kougaress has no real idea what this is, either. Shruggies...
Meow... true grit... it’s worth thinking about.
Yowl, the world is heading for a showdown with itself. Injustice has taken hold to such a huge degree justice will fight back.~~~

She heard the slight scrape of the man’s boots as he backed out the door, shutting it. Instantly, Zeke and Ranson rushed after him, jerking the door open. “Oh no!” Sylva burst out, and began sliding out of the booth. “Stay here, Sylva,” Marina warned in a protective manner. “Big brother can take care of himself.” Grant patted her hand. She’d planted it on the table to propel herself toward the door. “Zeke will be back right quick. They just need a little conversation.” Sylva decided to stay put. “Conversation? Who was that man?”
Zeke plunged the business end of this pistol beneath the Long Walker’s ribs while Ranson twisted his arm behind his back and pressed the muzzle of his pistol against’s the man’s kidneys. “Talk,” Zeke ordered. “And not about the weather.” Cool to his core and typical of his breed, the Long Walker gave a minimal shrug with the shoulder that was still free from restraint. “I was paid to tail your friend here. That’s all I know. Figured I’d make more cashola if I discovered why he was makin’ buddy eyes at you, given your past enmity.” Zeke wasn’t buying.

'Intentional' Rain
9/2/09-- The day following the intention experiment [suggested in this show - Coast to Coast am] to cause rain covering the fires in Southern California, we were drenched. Redlands is 10 to 15 minutes from the fires in Yucaipa. The rain started out in the mountains at the fire locations and proceeded to drench Redlands. It has not rained here for many months. We should do some more experiments of the intention technique. It was the coolest thing I have seen in quite a while. There was also tremendous lighting and thunder. The thunder was so loud that it set off car alarms twice.

Dono unlocked his body and set the plate down with slow deliberation. He and Dash glanced at each other, both of their gazes asking, what now?
“You’re our wife, Kylie. Branding you lets everyone know that.” Dono scooted to the edge of the couch, observing her closely.
Folding her arms, she sank against the back of the couch and tilted her chin stubbornly. “Okay, what if I don’t want to be your wife in a year?”
Dash audibly gasped, then clamped his lips shut. He didn’t move, his fists clenched.
Everything inside Dono rioted against her words. “A year’s a long time, sweetheart.”

To her eye, they looked almost toy-like. Though, by the way Zeke’s sister and her husband gripped them, aiming toward the entrance, Sylva knew different. It had happened so fast, she’d been scared out of her mind, at first, thinking Zeke and Ranson were drawing on each other. From her vantage point, the three other people dining had drawn their weapons, and a man in a cook’s apron moved through the swinging doors, his rifle pointed. She heard the door open.
Zeke eased his body to a superior advantage as the door swung open. Once his squinty gaze swept the room, the Long Walker slowly removed his hand from the butt of his sidearm. Even more slowly, he raised his palm in a gesture of backing off. “Sorry, folks,” he growled, “looks like I’m not wanted here.” Zeke heard the owner move forward and saw the rifle barrel in his peripheral vision “Depends. If you’re here peacefully, you’re welcome. If not, keep on going out the door. Keep on going out of town. Cause the Sheriff is gonna know right quick.”

Intentional kiss from the Kougar...
Lovely evening, my Beautiful Big Cats, the Kougar is all yowling-talked out. It feels as though a tape has come to the end, as in the time of tape recorders... and everything is on hold, or pause.
It’s a peaceful evening on the tame prairie. The moon is close to being full, gorgeous in the sky. A small storm and some nice rain moved through in the early morning. It was needed. Yep-meow, the temps are like Fall and moi wonders if Summer will hit with a vengeance in September as it often does in the midwest.
Already, the Kougaress is thinking of winter preparations. She has a sense there could be lots of snow this year and hopes for mild temps. No frigid air need apply. Famous last purrs, though.
Bizarre weirdness... that’s how today went in subtle ways and is simply how it feels, the entire world. Shruggies and shakies of this Big Cat’s body... get away strange cooties.~~~
A couple of late nights ago, the Coast-to-Coast am audience did what we call a mass consciousness experiment ~ to bring rain that would help stop the California fires. There was some rain, that had not been in the weather forecast, the last moi knew.~~~

E-swindling is rearing its ugly head everywhere, it seems, to the detriment of authors and their publishing houses. What would the world be like if no one could write romance novels because, bottom line, none of us could make a living at it? And/or because the demands of life were simply too great and there was no time, there was no energy?

Yay! The Kougar paw-clicked over to the RWA elections’ page. She dutifully read the bios and the mission statements of all the candidates, then voted. There were several ebook friendly candidates. Let’s hope the best people are voted in and RWA changes course to reflect the current realities in romance novel publishing.

So far, so good. He and Ranson seemed to be on cordial enough terms and were discussing something. “What are your favorites here?” she asked Marina. Marina grinned in a winning way. “They know my order by heart. I always have the chicken-fried steak, lots of gravy, and their vegetable plate. My darling husband usually has their special, unless it’s catfish. Zeke is partial to their steak sandwiches. The desserts, that’s where I do my choosin’. Anything on the menu you don’t understand?” Sylva’s spine tingled a warning.
Zeke pierced his gaze through Ranson and saw no falsehood. “Know anything else I need to know?” he asked. “I’ve got feelers out. Anything else shakes loose I’ll give a holler.” Ranson paused. “Someone comin’ in.” At the same time Ranson spoke, Zeke caught a shadowy glimpse in the Diner’s window, a Long Walker by the man’s gait. Simultaneously, Zeke and Ranson drew their guns, pointing with slow deliberation at the door. Zeke knew by the electric silence in his sister’s direction that she and Grant had drawn their weapons in anticipation. From the corner of his eye, he watched Sylva.

Yep, good Big Kittens all, the Kougar is beginning to despise Internet Browsers. Why you mew, if you do?
Yesterday moi’s Firefox browser came to her rescue when Earthlink and Internet Explorer went nastily haywire. HOWEVER!!! when this Big Cat downloaded the latest version of Firefox, the 3.5.2 version... NOTHING! No access to the internet whatsoever. Just dead. Okay, being somewhat intrepid, moi looked to discover what the problem was after uninstalling, then installing Firefox, again, to see if that would solve the problem. NADA!
So, it seems one problem is being blocked by your firewall. The Kougaress went though that procedure to unlock the Window’s firewall. Well, her stupid Earthlink Protection thing won’t uninstall completely to even try the latest version of Earthlink Protection, which takes forever to download on dial-up.
So, now, the Kougar is downloading an earlier version of Firefox to see if that will work... claws crossed.
GEE, all you computer wizard-geeks, all you Browser people, why not create versions which actually work in the way moi wants them to work? She DOES NOT want the latest version of Internet Explorer... it sucks big time!!! and has tons o’ features this Big Cat does not want!!! does not care about!!! Plus, it has all this intrusive crap which is really none of their or anyone else’s damn business.
Now, her reliable Firefox is no longer reliable. Why not just go to Firefox? Well, you can’t format on Blogger worth a big fat damn, that’s one reason. And, since this Big Cat girl does lots of blogging... well, big ole problem there.
And, oh snarling yeah... moi just adores spending her valuable time trying to work out all these stupid cyber problems, which, in her opinion, should not be going on. Certainly not at the level they are. The point of the Internet for most of us is convenience, not learning how to be tech savvy and spending all our time doing it and maintaining it... downloading this, that, and every latest version. Forget about it!~~~
FINALLY!!! The Kougar has met with success, but lost all her linkies. Looks like the info from Internet Explorer, cookies, etc. did a bad trip on the Firefox Browser. But finally, after, at least, ten tries at this that and the other, including... oh never meow mind... moi finally figured it was corrupted by importing from IE. Yep, that solved it. Firefox is back and browsing.
A victory for this kitty kat.~~~~~~

She should have known it was different here. After ducking her head and sneaking a peek at Zeke, who appeared to be in control of the situation with Ranson, she unrolled what Marina had given her. It turned out to be a screen-like menu. “Just touch any of the selections. The details will appear,” Marina politely explained. “Potatoes are always good.” Sylva spoke just to say anything. Experimentally, she touched ‘Fluff Potatoes with Roasted Parsnips’. The explanation and ingredients of the dish appeared. “Oh cool, it’s like colored liquid that forms into images and words.”
Zeke seared his gaze at Ranson, wanting only the truth. “Within the past three months. Your bride was their first hit. How do I know?” Ranson asked Zeke’s next question. His brows arched over his ice blue eyes, he continued, “Insider information. Friend of mine was serving dinner to three of the SCs, as we call them. They were touting their success and discussing how to verify your wife’s special abilities.” Zeke went dead cold in his gut. “Verify?” he asked. “Sorry, Zeke, don’t know the details. They are planning on using their own extra talented spies to watch her.”

8/31/2009, 7 AM-- I walked out from my house and saw the most amazing coloration of the sun I have ever seen! The desert is choked with smoke from the fires burning in Los Angeles and ash falls from above [about an hour away]. Think I'll stay inside today.

Late evening purrs, my loveliest KitKats, the Kougar is too worn out to rant and roar over her lack of internet access today. What the problem is, moi has no real clue.
It may be time to take the tower in for de-bugging and a good cleaning.
Oh, latest news and mews ~ it appears this Big Cat has been saved, since she was finally able to access Coast to Coast via IE.
Truth and rumbly mumby cursing... only, the Firefox browser has, at least, given moi some spotty access.
Looks like Los Angeles is in the frying pan right now with all the wildfires threatening the city. Blessings to all those who are there. I’d get out if I were you. The smoke is seriously harming a lot people’s lungs.
The Baja area of Mexico is under a serious Hurricane warning and might be getting hit right now. Bless everyone there. ~~~
So, the Kougar ‘might’ be able to post her SHAPESHIFTER SEDUCTIONS bloggie for Tuesday. Though, it looks like no bull will be included. Yep, that’s no bull. Moi was up to her neck managing other problems and having limited access to the web didn’t help.~~~
However, she did get quite a bit done on editing STALLION OF ASH AND FLAME... yay and lots of glad meows!~~~

However, Marina’s speculative gaze held her attention. “Big brother is holding out on us. Is it for a good reason?” Deciding Marina had given her a viable option, Sylva nodded and offered, “It is.” Grant palmed his wife’s forearm gently. “Leave it alone for now, precious.” His tone was laid back, yet firm. “Let’s get some grub going. Make everything look normal.” Marina leaned against her husband, petite against his imposing frame. “You’re right, lover. Would you like a menu, Sylva?” Marina smiled graciously. “I don’t see one.” Sylva looked again.
Zeke didn’t lessen his ready-to-shoot position. “Ranson, buddy boy, is it safe to give me the details here?” Zeke narrowed his gaze, searching for any telltale signs that he was about to be bushwacked, as Ranson slowly turned around to face him. In a natural movement, Ranson showed him his empty hands. “Safe as anywhere. Your bride was frequency-recognized as they say. Those who are interested in her ‘unusual’ abilities locked onto her soon after she crossed into our world. It’s a new technology,” Ranson explained at Zeke’s questioning gaze. “How new?” Damn, if he didn’t feel sliced up inside.
