Top Ten Reasons *Not* to Read BLACK CAT BEAUTY

10) If celebrating Halloween is just not your thing.

9) If you don’t want a black cat girl sexily sauntering across your path at a Halloween party.

8) If you feel utter disdain for the Hollywood party scene.

7) If you just can’t stand being inside a restored gothic mansion filled with women dressed like their favorite Cat Woman.

6) If the very thought of meeting a Hollywood Witch Bitch with real powers scares you so much you’d go running into the arms of your mommy.

5) If the song, YEAR OF THE CAT, sounds like chalk squeaking across a chalkboard to you.

4) If you despise Superheroes and extraterrestrials on general principle.

3) If you just don’t want a sexy movie star singing in your ear while he plays with his rock band.

2) If you’ve always had a fear of flying or being held in the embrace of a soaring superman.

AND... ta-da...

1) If you’ve never been curious about the endurance of a superhero’s steely rod.

Marina Jamison is a mystery. As a half-breed shapeshifter, she lives on the fringe of were-jaguar society. Though her love for pride leader Bastian LaRue is forbidden, she finds herself tied to him by a bond stronger than their individual wills, a psychic link born from their one-night stand. When her secret is revealed, she is scorned and excluded. Neither Bastian nor the pride can accept a half-breed queen.

*WILD* was the flash fiction theme at the Liquid Silver SEx blog on Sunday, where Lisa Andel, incredible author that she is, was the host.

Flash of Wild Adventure ~ the Kougar’s flashie ~

Kwynn twisted on top of the desert-baked boulder just as the saber-tooth tiger leapt from the red mountain’s ledge, only fifty feet above her. Twisting toward her in mid-air, the giant cat’s fangs flashed in the bright sunlight and the beast screamed for dinner. Kwynn thanked her lucky stars she was small enough to roll over the side of the boulder, down into the small crevice. Only it wasn’t a crevice, it was the opening to a cave. Arms, roped with dark brown muscle, hauled her backwards against a tall male body that could only be described as beautifully savage.

“What are you doing here?” Zandarr demanded, keeping his hold tight.
“The same as you, you incorrigible reptile-brained idiot. Enjoying a time travel excursion for the sake of my muse and my adventure-loving subscribers.”
The woman drove him into being a reptile-brained idiot. Only Kwinn owned that power. Not only was she a worthy rival, writing and recording for a competing holo-magazine, she could irately scold him while he squeezed her solar plexus. Damn! If she didn’t feel like utter female heaven against him, as she always had, ever since they’d clung to each other in the raging Amazon river.

X-Serial Flash in Two Hundred ~ Sylva and Zeke’s story continues....

Part 225 ~

Sylva admired her own reflection, even though the suede vest and scarf-like flared skirt wasn’t laced up yet. Still, the peasant-style blouse was one of those luscious shades of cream, richly tinted with a warm golden color. “Annie Oakley I’m not, but I do look cowgirl sexy... one style of cowgirl,” she amended, thinking of tight jeans and a tighter top or the elaborate square dancing costumes. Not that she was any cowgirl fashion expert. Far from it. Deciding to give Zeke more time, Sylva sat on the ottoman slipping on the moccasins, which fortunately, were a pretty good fit.

Zeke stepped out of the shower, moving into the ion unit for drying and another cleansing, a precaution against being ambushed. Ranson had one heck of a snozzola. He’d always been able to scent an arriving woman before anyone else, like a hungry wolf. Plus, he could be using any number of tech devices that ‘sniffed’ out an approaching individual. Having hung his suit in the ion unit, Zeke grabbed it off the hanger, heading for his dressing area. The urge to check on his Sylva felt like a stake through his middle. Instead, he concentrated on dressing to kill.

Flash of the Buccaneer King

Avast me hearty fierce Big Cats, the Kougar luvs Pirate Day at the Liquid Silver SEx blog... thanks for the mighty flashing entertainment, Roscoe James, host of Flash Fiction Sunday.

Here's moi’s piratey flash from the last piratey good time, plus two more flashies added ~

The Buccaneer King’s Captive

Zambrono drastically reduced the speed of his space hawk jet. He’d launched from his Galleon cruiser mere minutes ago. Someone was about to steal the cargo he’d already claimed with his own eye via his senors. On his galleon’s main screen he’d watched a three-person Slip, a small battle cruiser, flash-shoot toward the heavy-bellied transport craft being escorted by a fleet of six warships. Whoever engaged the warships must have balls as heavy as dense black matter because the other galactic pirates he knew would have given it a wide berth without enough attack ships. Zambrono growled, his lip curling.

Selendra streaked her Slip between two of the warships, blasting them both with one of her secret weapons. Streams of diamond-fed plasma disabled one warship and significantly damaged the other. Looping above them, she dove toward the warship on her tail and fired hydro-shots into its central energy core. That would slow it down until she could finish it off. Zigzagging past the limping warship, she flew beneath the whale-like transport and targeted the bay hatch. Her red cutting beams seared away the magnetic-hold field. Having dispatched two warships already, she spun her ship like a top, searching... oh, no!

Zambrono caught the charging warship’s core with his gold suspension rays, and left it floating helplessly close to the transport. While he roared a laugh of triumph, he watched the Slip halt its amazing spin, then lock on his hawk jet with a particle scan beam. A second later the balls-brave captain slid the Slip up and to the side of the transport, out of his firing range, unless he wanted to take a chunk out of the transport’s cargo hold. “Later,” he snarled the promise. Corkscrewing his jet toward the warship still able to attack, he gold-coated its core.

Selendra’s innards flinched for an instant. Her scan didn’t lie. That was the hawk jet of the man known as the Buccaneer King. Well, frizzle frazzle hell, he wasn’t getting her hard-won cargo. Avoiding the pulse cannons peppering space around the third cargo bay’s entrance, Selendra carefully wove toward her real target, located within the bay she hadn’t attacked. Keeping one eye glued to the jet hawk’s advance, she unsealed the tiny bay’s field and cruised her Slip inside the instant the door cracked open. She re-sealed the door enough to allow for some gravity. The ten giant cases settled.

Zambrono barked with irritation. The Slip had vanished from his sensors and not within the bay that had been opened with red cutting beams. With the warships useless, he aimed for the guts of the transport and fired his plasma ice ray, freezing the four energy cores to gelatinous goo. The cores would reform in a short time powering the transport again. He grrrrrd, then sneered. What the black hole hell was the other pirate captain up to? His curiosity engaged and his wrath, Zambrono combed his sensors over the transport looking for the balls-to-the-space-walls captain. He found him, departing.

Selendra sidled the Slip close to the cases, filled with the red diamonds that had been stolen from the Juijitts, then illegally sold, and now on their way to a weapons’ manufacturer. Swiftly placing on her breathing helmet, she opened her own holding bay. She seized her magnetic grappler and jogged the short distance to her bay. Waiting for the atmosphere to stabilize enough, she hauled ass outside and rapidly attached the beam-lock to the cases, loading them one by one. About to enter her hold, she felt muscular arms latch onto her waist, and squeeze unmercifully. “What the hell...”

Zambrono finished, “you’re a girl.” His new prize twisted like a fairy fiend, seeking any way to hurt him, and escape. He kept his capture of her, barely. Her exceptionally rounded ass attacked his engorging cock without mercy. Her soft, beautifully firm breasts were no easier on his forearms as he carried her to his hawk jet. The heels of her boots struck his booted shins. And he would have laughed heartily at the way her arms flailed seeking his harm, if he could be certain of his hold on her. Tossing her within, he dived on top of her.
~~~
July 5, 2009
Selendra writhed furiously beneath the heavy-bodied beast of a man. Hell-stars! His Lass-Picker felt as weighty as the anchor of her sea yacht and his reflexes were nearly as quick as her own. “Hold still, ya female demon thief. Yer my prize now. An’ I’ll do with you what pleases me, I swear to the Almighty Galactic.” Selendra stilled utterly, sensing the approach of the cargo vessel’s guard. “That’s better, girlie. Let’s get a look at you.” With swift ease, he removed her helmet. She glared her wrath as her hair tumbled around her shoulders. “They’re coming, you crass mammoth.”
Zambano rarely lost his speech when gazin’ at a woman. “Get off me, you uncouth lout!” Her snarling voice coiled through him like a nebula serpent threatening to feast on him and his ship. “If you want to save your worthless ugly hide, Buccaneer King,” her tone stripped his skin off, “you’ll get off me, so we can both escape.” The fae beauty had a definite point... and not the point of his fleshly broadsword inside her petaled port. Zambrano leapt upward. Spinning on his boot heel, he beam-attached her Slip, then shot into space, the guards blasting his backside.
X-Serial Flash in Two Hundred ~ Sylva and Zeke’s story continues....
Part 190 ~
Sylva tingled at the primal glitter in her cowboy’s eyes, her sex hormones tickled as she liked to think about it. Obviously, Zeke had grown beyond that youthful brawling behavior, given what she’d observed and what she sensed about him. Still, if she was honest with herself, didn’t a woman want a man who was fighting-tough enough to protect her? She’d always been conscious about protecting herself. It’s not like men were around to do it, or would do it. Besides, she liked the inner satisfaction of relying on herself. Yet, she whirled with a lovely dizziness over her cowboy.
Zeke refocused on his bride, his memory fading into the past where it belonged. He wouldn’t change a durn thing about those two days, despite the brutish after affects. He’d learned about the deep reservoirs within himself, the ability to keep on fighting no matter what the circumstance, especially if a man had been wronged in some way... like Ranson’s cheating. “Have I crossed the line, darlin’? Too much gory detail?” Her eyes glinted with the soft smile she gave him. “No,” she shook her head, “I asked. I wanted to know. Did you whoop a victory, or fall over?”
Lovely evening, my Sassy Big Cats, if you’re a fan of Western erotic romance, or maybe you’re just more darn curious than a cat, run with a springing stride to check out INTIMATE STRANGERS by Gem Sivad. Gem’s novel is about to be released, actually on March 30.
X-Serial Flash in Two Hundred ~ Sylva and Zeke’s story continues...
Part 84 ~
Sylva marveled at his ability to the tighten the gown perfectly. “When,” she called back to him. With a gentle firmness he tied the lacings. “Where did you learn that skill?” she asked. “Never mind.” He chuckled deeply. “Mostly on my sister. She made me practice, since mother or one the help wasn’t always around when she wanted to play dress-up. Once it finally knocked my into skull like a lightning bolt, that it could be a real useful skill, I never complained again about helping her.” He smoothed his palms over her bare shoulders possessively. His warm lips followed.
Zeke tasted his woman with languid kisses. The silky feminine heat of her flesh ignited his loins, straightening his cock. When she leaned back against him, he trailed his kisses up the side of her neck, then nibbled her tiny earlobe. She whimpered, wanting more. Teasing her delicate lobe, he inhaled her musky juices like a stud. Slipping his hands beneath her breasts, he cupped, brushing his thumbs over the bare swells of her bosom. “Oh, what you do to me,” she rasped. Soft as fine cotton, she covered his hand. Gently Zeke gripped her earlobe with his teeth, tugging.
A big kiss of thanks, to Lindsay Townsend, BookStrand author of FLAVIA’S SECRET ~ She let moi know WHEN A GOOD ANGEL FALLS was #1 on BookStrand's top sellers list today. The Kougaress is definitely a very happy camper in the year 2008, which is a number one year in numerology.
Sun Rocket awakens to find herself in strange surroundings. Where is she or more importantly how did she get here? Thankfully she maintained her human form during her transference from a horse holding unit as she admired the horses.
Draxen is the owner of the ship where he finds a redheaded seductress in his cargo bay. Who sent her? Why is she here? He's bound and determined to discover these answers and more as the story unfolds. Her luscious body tempts him mightily as passion begins to ignite within his soul. Will he get what he craves?
This story just explodes right from the get go. Making you curious to unravel the mystery presented as well as enjoying the by-play between Draxen and Sun Rocket. Discovering the answers gives one a pleasurable read, one which excites the senses in a variety of ways.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. It filled me with anticipation as I read the passion that just seems to explode off the pages or in my case the computer. Wow the heat level in this book coupled with the heat wave here on the mountains has me wishing I had a pool of ice water handy to cool off. This book was very well written. Definitely not for a young reader, it's just too sexually stimulating. Ms. Kougar I applaud you, you held my attention, took me on a journey and warmed my heart all at the same time.
Reviews by Cindy & Werewolfen Secrets
Big Adorable Kittens all, today the Kougar will post Cindy's reviews of moi's two e-novels. Cindy is a reader who participates on the Siren-BookStrand Yahoo loop, and loves reading erotic romances. She also likes writing reviews. So the Kougar is purring-glad to present ~
Reviews by Cindy ~
All Shades of Blue Paradise by Savanna Kougar is a great story. I especially liked that the hero was aggressive and the heroine was a very strong woman. The out of control passion they felt for each other was sizzling .The clash between the aggressive hero and the equally strong heroine creates a tension that keeps the reader wondering how they'll reconcile their past mistakes.
Even though I enjoyed this book, the writing style is unique and it makes it somewhat challenging book to read.
Cindy
All Shades of Blue Paradise ~ Siren Publishing ~ sirenpublishing.com
Author's note: Like a historical romance this novel is written in the culture of the World of the Blue Pearl Moon, and thus, all good and dear readers are advised the writing style is unique.
Red Lioness Tamed
By: Savanna Kougar
This is an awesome story, it caught me from page one. I loved the way the hero wasted no time in telling the heroine exactly what he wanted from her. Their interaction and the fact that he found her beautiful, regardless of what form she was in, kept me involved to the last page. This is a fast paced story , that I thoroughly enjoyed. I hope to read more of this series in the future.
Now, just because the Kougaress loves you, here is Part Trois of Chapter One ~ Secret Lives of Fortunate Wolves ~
"Human is not a real good thing to be right now, is it?" she asked, unfreezing enough to sink down in the seat. "Planning on a meal?"
"Only if you join me. – And not as dinner, Keira." He paused, the wolfen magic continued. "My beautiful, fairy-delicate, Venus-lush Keira."
"My Goddess," she murmured, sinking lower – and noticing, through the lessening rain, they approached a quaint town of lovely old architecture.
"Dinner, Keira?" he asked, as if the balance of the world depended on her answer – yet also, as if the balance already belonged to him. The arrogant all-knowing male. Male wolf.
"Why not?" She tried to breathe more normally. Tried to unclutch her bag. Even though she realized she didn’t have any silver bullets – or a gun – or a silver-tipped anything. And maybe none of that would protect her. Anyway.
Silver forks at dinner?"
The Half Moon is on the outskirts, the other side of town," he spoke as if all was completely normal. The world hadn’t just switched to ferociously bizarre.
"Would Rob have been anyone’s dinner?" she tentatively inquired, sneaking a peek at him.
"A bear maybe. Spotted a few new ones lately."
"Running as a wolf?" she asked, figuring she might as well take the wolf by the furry dangerous – if gorgeous tail.
"Yes. – And on night rounds. Had some reports. Wanted to check it out. – Silver bullets won’t kill me, Keira. Or a silver fork," he amused offered, then waited – enjoying, enjoying tremendously.
"Oh, this just gets better and better. Werewolf and mind reader. Do you ‘mind’ letting me know what does work?"
"There’s only one way to kill me, Keira."
Sadness filled her like an empty well. She saw him wolf howl mournfully – the full mammoth moon, radiant behind him – but that was all.
"Half Moon is just up ahead. Stay close, Keira. Let me do the asking."
"Part of the wolf brethren?" she inquired, curious and thinking escape.
"Escape, Keira?" he teased. He pulled in, stopped.
Before she knew it, he captured her hand. His lips grazed just above her thumb, so sensuously she nearly swooned. And felt entirely shocked. Nothing like that had ever happened to her. She didn’t even own the willpower to reclaim her hand.
"Battle me later, my beautiful Keira. Stay. I will open your door."
Werewolf! It bounced through her, pinballs ringing, zigzagging. Beating against her insides.
He opened her door, presented his hand – reminding her of the regency movies she had seen. She gazed up at him, then placed her hand in his. A strange sense of belonging whispered through her – vanished, as they moved through the steady rain, side-by-side, to the Half Moon’s office.
"Marshall Vhulfe," the twenties-something woman greeted, her eyes flashing flirtation.
"Mara, we’re looking for a guest. Mr. Robert Bateman."
"He was here, Marshall. Checked out yesterday about 2:00 in the afternoon. Seemed real enthusiastic about something. Paid his bill. – Everything seemed okay."
"See anybody with him, Mara?"
"I know he’s been talking with Trista. Seen them together. When I went to lunch. At Bev’s place. – But I didn’t see Trista with him when he left – or anyone else."
"Make any calls?"
"One to Trista that I know about. Overhead him on his cell. – Didn’t use the room phone."
"He leave any information about were he was headed?"
Marshall Vhulf leaned on her counter – forward, on one elbow – eye to wolf-penetrating eye with Mara.
"He didn’t speak it, Marshall." Mara cast a speculative cold eye over Keira. "But I think he may have headed north. Recent wolf trails up there. Good swimming place too – if you know what I mean."
"I do, Mara. Thank you. If he you see Mr. Bateman, or hear anything else, I need to know – talk to me quick."
"Yes, Marshall. You want his room key. No one’s checked in yet."
"Thanks, Mara. Say hello to your mother and father for me. Plan to be at the Sunday picnic."
Mara smiled then – beautiful, yet somehow voracious.
Taking Keira’s elbow, in a commanding manner, and not to her taste, the Marshall escorted her outside. "The car," he stated, releasing her.
Obeying him, only because he was a werewolf, and only because she wanted to find Rob – and because she was stranded – Keira quickly strode to the passenger door, sliding in when he opened it.
"Keira, my fierce one," he spoke once he was beside her. He handed her the room key.
"Fierce!" she challenged. "How fierce could I be compared to you?"
"You will be fierce enough," he enigmatic spoke, switching on the car.
Slowly he drove along the row of rooms, until they were before room 216.
"For the sake of expediency, my Keira, I will forego your door. This time."
"Fine!" She quickly shoved open the door. Her foot landed in a pool of water. "That’s why!" she shouted at him, once she’d jumped out.
"Wolves like water, Keira," he absently spoke, his focus on the motel room. "Next time, however, I will lift you out."
She stared at the back of him, until she handed him the key. Her insides were gooey and stunned – because she knew he meant it.
Back to the Future and Beyond
Hello-purr, my Kittens, the Kougar is worn down to a hunting-shopping frazzle...not to yowl-mention moi accidentally angered an elderly citizen, by being in the wrong place at the wrong time, and then offering the wrong kind of assistance. Indeed, Big Cats, the Kougaress has only seen pure hatred and evil blazing from the eyes of two humans *focused directly at moi* twice in her lifetime, both of them elderly women. The Kougar must wonder if demons have a special fondness for possessing these particular human bodies.
Back to the future and beyond, my Big Beautiful Cats. The Kougar has an enduring fondness for all three Back to the Future movies. What's not to love about that *Dorlean ` the car*, that time travel adventuring in that offbeat fun way? Often, when writing one of moi's stories, meow-however, that's what it feels like, since past events make the heroine and hero who they are, no matter what part of their sizzle romance adventure the Kougar is writing. And the moi also flicking-tail happily adores writing futuristics, which always mean knowing the past as well, regardless of culture the novel set in ~ the space of Red Lioness Tamed or another dimension like World of the Blue Pearl Moon.
To tell Lady Sheridan and Baron Zaggry's story in All Shades of Blue Paradise, the past was often referenced since the novel began ten years after Sher broke their engagement. And that is where backstory enters the story picture. And for that craft topic visit Title Magic and soak up today's Guest Blogger, Terry Odell's words of writerly wisdom.
Moi's opening and intro...
Happy Summer All. Grab those special books you love to escape with, and head out to the pool or to your backyard lounging chair, and indulge your reader's appetite. Terry Odell's romantic suspense novels are a perfect fit for summer. Her clear descriptive writing style will carry you away effortlessly into a story packed with hang-onto-your-teeth twists and turns. But, most importantly, ends with the triumph of love.For all of us authors and aspiring authors Terry discusses a topic that is vitally important to a successful novel, how to use backstory. What does your reader need and want to know about the main characters? How much is too much? And when is there too little backstory?Welcome Terry, thanks for joining us today.
Meow-then, a snippet from Starting Over by Terry Odell ~ just because moi loves it.
In the steamy cocoon of the shower, Colleen’s fingers found the dimpled scar the bullet had left on her thigh and the long, straight one where they’d repaired her femoral artery. She knew they were no longer a garish red, but she refused to look at them. Thankfully, the exit wound on the back of her leg was out of sight unless she really worked at seeing it. The ugly reminders that screamed "failure" remained, long after the physical pain had gone.
She watched the sudsy water swirl down the drain, willing it to take her memories along.
Get a grip. It’s over. Forget Pine Hills. You made your choice, so get on with your life.
She declared yesterday a do-over. Hell, as long as she was changing the rules of time, the last three months never happened. But then, she’d still be a cop in Pine Hills, Oregon, instead of a basket case in Orlando, Florida.
A Torrid Two Lips Chat
Yep, Big Grownup Kitties, it was a torrid Two Lips Yahoo chat today with the Liquid Silver authors ~ the bonnie kilts were blowing in the wind, leaving the goodies exposed. And there were lots of other carnal-exotic happenings. Read all about it, if you dare to bare. And that didn't even yowling-include the blurbs or excerpts. And, guess what, my curious sex kittens, I'll bet the racy-wild and woolly, take no prisoners party is still going on. The Kougar had to bow out, not only to regain her reeling head and point it back toward steadier safer sailing waters ~ hey, watch out for that big fat Tuna ~ but to actually get her paw-penning done today.
Moi's proof below she is actually working and not felinine-lounging sunning, nor picnic-ing on prime fried chicken legs. Oh meow boo-hoo!
From the Kougar's WIP ~ Don't Bite the Fortune Teller
"Solitaire struggled to awaken. Bizarre mirror-distorted images of people she didn’t know surrounded her. Surfacing briefly, her dream grabbed hold of her again, as if she were it’s prisoner. Dragged down into the shroud-murky swirls, Solitaire willed herself to wake up. Strongly willing herself to ignore the people chasing her, she emerged into lucid thought, and remained in the twilight before full awareness.
Halloween...was it today? Had he returned? Goddess, wake up. Wake up. The celebration with his family, their traditional all-night celebration–it was her first. Had she ever been so utterly nervous in her entire life over any social event? And she’d been nail-chewing, hyperventilating nervous before.
But their costumes, so incredibly beautiful, were designs inspired by the high evening garments worn in pre-dynastic Egypt. Now, all the costumes they’d been shown inside his lounge area, flowed in front of her mind’s eye with the regal serenity of the Nile river. The one she’d chosen was last. Spun metallic gold, the shift had fallen in shimmering knife pleats around her figure, the back elegantly draping along the floor, as she gazed at her reflection in the tall half-circle mirror.
Yet, he’d insisted on the pale lilac costume. Dominant, yet with a gallant air, he’d kissed her palm. The pure sensual persuasion of his lips had caused her to give up without one argument, even though the sheer skimming layers of the lilac shift intimately revealed her body–too much for her liking. Still, the gown’s large decorative collar was stunning. It glistened with tiny round amethyst beads, woven together by royal purple thread, and dripped gold and silver beads shaped like raindrops."
Pow! Bam! Smack it...
Hello, my darling Big Kitties, the Kougar did some paw-improvements to her blog. Now the covers of moi's novels actually link to Siren Publishing, Liquid Silver Books and Siren-BookStrand. A big rolling rumbling purr of satisfaction. For now.
Meow-sigh hopefully, the Kougaress will gain enough time to include the new Siren-BookStrand blog ~ http://blog.sirenbookstrand.com/ ~ and Aspen Mountain Press soon. Moi is tail-twitching working hard on her edits for Tangerine Carnal Dreams. Oh where yowling-where is the Kougar's very own handsome hero, who is a tech wizard, a handy man extraordinaire, who can bring home the bacon...moi will bake him brownies, and other tasty goodies...if he could only install snafu-free editing program...wish, wish...oh a huge heart wish...
Plus ~ no, not the plus size of fashion ~ the Kougar would adore designing a snazzy razzy feline header for her blog...ideas are only in the fuzzy stage of the moi's dreaming mind, however. Perhaps, as Helen suggests in her Title Magic blog today, the Kougaress should be on the prowl for that eye-delicious hunk of man to virile-grace her blog with his sexy I-want-you picture. Cat-woman purring yum - Clark Gable. Does Rhett want Scarlett or what?
Also, happy-roaring news, the Kougar will be participating in Celia Kyle's summer scavenger hunt, which begins the first of June. Pssst...hint, the treasure link for winning a whole bunch o' books is below...way below...
And! All Shades of Blue Paradise, Siren Publishing, will be offered by The Romance Studio as the book giveaway on May 24, 2008. If any Big Cat wants a novel-taste of the Kougar's writing. And an escape into the World of Blue Pearl Moon.
Pow! Bam! Smack it into the next dimension, Big Kitties ~ lope rapidly over to Title Magic. Helen's blog today ~ what the American Title V finalists should know ~ is chock full of vote-getting strategies. And is also a titillating insight into how Helen won with her entry, The Magic Knot ~ sorta like a behind-the-scenes of American Idol for romance writers. Mew-sings below.
Wowza, what you learn! Thanks, everyone, since the advice can be carried over to 'hopefully' a career as an author. And should assist the American Title V finalists.
Now, I'm even definitely more glad I didn't fully know what I was up against. Sometimes ignorance is bliss, or, at least, it keeps you going despite the odds.
Hey, I know I got ONE vote. 'Cause I voted for myself. Who knows? Maybe my entry was the lowest vote getter ever?
I can laugh now, which I'm doing...lol.
Mooncusser Cove ~ Darragha Foster
Hi Big Cats, cover art magic continues. Now that moi can claw her way to blogger. Today, my guest blogger on Title Magic, Darragha Foster, Liquid Silver author, couldn't be with us. Family always comes first! So, the Kougar thought she would present one of her covers because, for one thing it's entered in the Cover Cafe's cover art contest ~ covercafe.com/contest/2007/ ~ and for another thing moi think it's absolutely dreamy beautiful. And yes, the Kougar spent time voting in all the different categories, which was a purring-blast. Especially the Worst Cover entries.
Beware before you read the blurbage of this story. And unglue those eyeballs if you're under 18.
Mooncusser Cove
~ available from Liquid Silver Books ~ liquidsilverbooks.com ~
Darragha Foster
ISBN 978-1-59578-383-7
Born in 1864 to a wealthy coastal family, Vesper Highgate-Adaire was well on her way to becoming a first-rate stripper just like her mother. A stripper of boots and brass off the bodies of wrecked sailors, in accordance with family traditions—the traditions of the Mooncusser clan. Traditions that changed after the wrecking of a ship befouled by an accursed sea captain—who in his twisted rage, shared his curse with the clan.
They became Shadow Lovers, the lot of them, for all time, cursed to feed upon those energies best expended only between husband and wife. Or upon blood. And only on the dark of the moon.
Forced to leave their beloved beach so as not to saturate the land with their poison, only Vesper remained behind to care for the family estate, and wait for the unholy captain’s return.
But time and tide and the feverish nightmares left behind in her victims after her embrace do not wait for dark nights to move in their unstoppable, mysterious ways. A juggernaut of hellish proportions is coming to the beach—and there’s only one way to stop it. Hard-headed and proud, Vesper won’t accept that fact. She’d rather die fighting than flee and live. Good thing the only person alive able to control a Mooncusser’s daughter has returned to the cove. And his blood-ties to the beach are just as thick as hers.
Mooncusser Cove -- a modern day retelling of Frankenstein with a Brigadoon twist. Ghost ships! Curses! Land pirates! Vampires who feed on sexual energy! The persecution of witches! Just another day at Vespers by the Sea bed-and-breakfast at Mooncusser Cove.
Blue Cat Celebration
Hey, Big Cats, it's chimera-blend day for the Kougar. Why should the mad-mad-world scientists have all the genetically-created fun? Meow and chin thrust and tail slashing *why*?
Moi's personal celebration first! Yowl, yes, it is Cinco de Mayo day ~ however, here the Kougaress reigns supreme. Roar, thusly, she is celebrating her first ever e-novel available on FictionWise. Happy, happy purr ~ here is how it looks, my Big Kitties!
All Shades of Blue Paradise [World of the Blue Pearl Moon 1]
eBook by Savanna Kougar
eBook Price: $3.99
eBook Description: Destiny and love can be denied for only so long...Except for her daring equestrienne competitions, Lady Sheridan lives a quiet life caring for her family's estate, staving off financial ruin and keeping her brother's misdeeds from ruining his marriage and the life of her beloved nieces. Despite all his desperate efforts, Baron Zaggry has never discovered why his Sherfantasy broke their engagement. Now, his ruse successful, Sheridan is finally his, his slave lover. He has ten years worth of denied pleasures to make up for, to savor however he erotic chooses.[Erotic Fantasy Romance,OtherWorld, Aristocratic Intrigue: Contains graphic sexual content and adult language.]
eBook Publisher: Siren Publishing, Inc., Published: 2008, 2008
All Other formats: Printing DISABLED, Read-aloud DISABLED
"5 Stars: Gryphiz is a world two dimensions from Earth. The people evolved differently from those on Earth. Their stamina and sexual ability increased. When Lady Sheridan saw her betrothed, Baron Zaggy, betray her, she ended the relationship without ever telling anyone why. Ten years later her brother, Brad, begged her help. He owed money to the Baron and needed more time. Regardless of her feelings she agreed to approach him on the subject of the loan. Zag agreed to forgive the debt if she would be his slave lover for one year. He would also help her with her project of a riding stable for children. She agreed. He needed her help to stop a corporation from possessing the Vettura lands and destroying the world as they knew it. Zag hoped to win back her love during that year. All Shades of Blue Paradise is part one of this series. Savanna Kougar is a talented author. The plot is extremely steamy. I would not mind being a slave lover for a year or maybe 20. Kougar has created a completely new world and culture. The characters are well-matched. Sheridan is strong and very sensual. Zag is incredibly sexy, dominating, and loving. Fans of erotic romance will enjoy All Shades of Blue Paradise: World of the Blue Pearl Moon." --Debra, Review Your Book
The Chimera effect ~ introducing Blu Cougar Cub. This cute little alien kitty kat was featured on Coast-to-Coastam with George Noory. How perfect is this little out-of-this world minx? The perfect synchronicity-blending of mois two e-novels, All Shades of Blue Paradise (Siren Publishing) & Red Lioness Tamed (Liquid Silver Books). Does Someone Up There love the Kougar or what?
Thought I would share a picture of my own little alien. Nothing like having her crawl up on you when you are sleeping, and awakening to those large green eyes staring at you. I think she is trying to telepathically communicate with me, but I guess I am not advanced enough yet. In all seriousness, this is my adorable hairless Sphynx cat called Blu Cougar Cub. She's a little menace, and the most talkative little thing. --Morassa Mohseni Morassa@jhmi.edu ~ http://www.coasttocoastam.com/gen/page2540.html?theme=light
Red Lioness Winner
We have a winner! Debbie Braaten has won moi's spicy sci fi novella, Red Lioness Tamed from Liquid Silver Books, in The Romance Studio's daily give-away contest. Purrs and Happy reading, Debbie!
In meow-truth, my Beautiful Big Cats, Debbie is the very first winner for one of the Kougar's e-novels. Remember ~ way back when, or a couple of moons ago ~ if you comment in 100 words or less on the Kougaress's blog with your character idea ~ and if the Kougar favors it enough, she will reward you with a PDF copy of either Red Lioness Tamed or All Shades of Blue Paradise ~ and if your character makes it into one of her future novels ~ yowl! We have another winner! You will be granted a free PDF copy of that novel. Not a claw-quick or easy contest. Growling-obvious, but fun for the Kougar, and an opportunity to cat-stretch your imagination.
On another prowling tangent, now that Helen Scott Taylor, winner of American Title IV, has revealed her cover art for The Magic Knot ~ moi is in love with the font and Celtic knot design especially ~ the pic is on Title Magic ~ titlemagic.blogspot.com ~ the Kougar will show off her new cover art for When A Good Angel Falls, coming from Siren-BookStrand. Roar-yes, December 21, 2012 is finally revealed, even if it's disguised as fiction ~ hehehe...
Today on Title Magic Evonne's guest blogger is Sarah Mallory, romance historical author extraordinaire. Take a leisurely stroll over and enjoy. Moi mew-sings below.
Sarah, how utterly fascinating. I always love to know how authors create and why. The whole matter of the weather and how that is worked into your novel as another character, wonderful!
BTW your cover art has a sensual sweet loveliness to it that I just adore.
Boy, do I know what you mean. I just submitted a novella to one of my e-publishers. But I have no clue if it's what they're looking for. Nerve-wracking time.
Thanks for being with us today. Like Evonne mentioned what a lovely contrast between you and yesterday's guest author. Being very eclectic in nature, I appreciate both of you, and the different types of stories/genres you write in.
Purring back to contests and being a winner. Yes, it's absolutely true! Dorchester has changed it's mind and will now sponser American Title V in the Romantic Times Magazine. Here is the official blurbage:
Due to popular demand, the American Title competition is returning for one last round. Dorchester Publishing has agreed to co-sponsor the contest, which pits unpublished writers against each other in five rounds of competition. RT readers vote online for their favorites each round, and the last contestant standing wins the ultimate prize: Their book will be published by Dorchester!
To enter, send the first three chapters (no more than 50 pages), a two- to seven-page synopsis and a cover letter (aka query letter) to: American Title Contest, Dorchester Publishing, 200 Madison Ave., Suite 2000, New York, NY 10016. ALL ENTRIES MUST BE RECEIVED BY JUNE 15, 2008.
For American Title V, we’re opening up the categories to include: historical, paranormal, romantic suspense, urban fantasy, etc. Sorry, no young adult, women’s fiction or straight contemporary manuscripts this time around.
Manuscripts must be completed prior to entering, and they should run 80,000 to 90,000 words. Finalists must agree to participate in each of the five competition rounds -- first line; hero and heroine; story summary; dialogue scene; romantic scene --and must submit copy for all five categories by Aug. 15, 2008. The entries are published in RT, and readers vote online for their favorite. With each round, the two contestants with the lowest amount of votes are eliminated.
Get your novel ready and you could be the next American Title champion!
The Winds of Cover Art
Big Cats, another whirlwind, spin-the-brain day so far. With storm winds streaking through the Kougar's prairie this morning. The blue splendid sky has just shown itself on the afternoon horizon...reminding ~ *out of the blue* ~ a phrase moi keeps hearing spoken these chaotic, perfect storm days, and time.
The Winds of Cover Art ~ A glorious surprise in the Kougar's e-mail, the the preliminary cover art for When a Good Angel Falls, her 2012 futuristic coming from Siren-BookStrand. Gorgeous, Big Kitties, just gorgeous! Moi had only two requests for changes.
And, in her e-mail David Burton, the incredible cover artist for Red Lioness Tamed, Liquid Silver Books, has redesigned his website with a link to moi's e-novel. In a later blog, the Kougaress will provide David's bio. But why wait? just a quick paw-click on the link below will take you to his site.
Psssst...all Good Kitties...a secret, this year's winner allowed moi and the other American Title IV finalists a peek at her book's cover art. Impressive, especially the font for the title and the way her name appears...the, yum, entwined couple is sexy delicious.
And, meow-continuing the cover art theme, the Kougar received e-confirmation her cover art form for Tangerine Carnal Dreams made it to Aspen Mountain Press. With toesies and claws crossed moi hopes it will follow in the cover prints of her two current releases. O great and lovely Bast, an ear pricked toward the Kougar's plea, please and thank you.
Sigh...a swish of her tail, the news piles up too swiftly for the Kougaress to accomplish all!!!
Purr-another note, Just Another Paranormal Monday with AuthorPromo, a Yahoo group, had it's spectacular debut today, with the Kougar providing her yowling-introduction. Shout-indeed, a good venue to scan out your fave genres and enjoy excerpts.
With her brain like corn mush yesterday, and not on creative paw-penning, the Kougaress stalked her shape-shifter and were-beasties WIPs, collecting them into one resource file, preparing for her next story project.
Rumbling-of, Lovely Big Kitties, moi has changed the series title for, Tangerine Carnal Dreams, her stallion shifter novel, to Her Stallion Prince.
Memory or memories, the song or intimate memories, Beautiful Big Cats, streamline your body over to Title Magic for Evonne's fascinating blog about memory. Mewings below
Evonne, wonderful post on memory. It is a fascinating topic unto itself. Certainly, it is a tricky animal at times. I generally have a good memory, but then when I screw up, I really!!! screw up.
Sometimes I should jot down ideas, phrases more. I have thought of key phrases while I'm driving and I keep repeating them as much as possible -- really need a recorder, but then I have to remember to use it.
Evonne, I'd luv to see the story you're talking about, how six memories shaped the hero's life. As a counterpoint, six memores that shaped the heroine's life, and how they come together, or arrive at the crossroads together???
End of March kisses from the Kougar...
The Art of Blue Pleasures
Good Evening, my patient Big Cats, today the prairie greens nicely, rising from it's winter death beneath the gray-pearl skies. The Kougar has been focused on filling out her cover art questionnaire for Pleasures of Blue Lotus Oil, Book II in the World of the Blue Pearl Moon series, Siren Publishing. Under contract agreement, nada can be meow-revealed for now. Suffice it to purring-say, the process was creatively intense, a combination of fun and hard work.
Yowl-well, the Kougaress finally took the prize plunge. In the coming month The Romance Studio will give away one book a day to their readers. One of them will be Red Lioness Tamed, Liquid Silver Books, the winner being chosen by moi.
The Kougar's Dare-the-Claw Contest ~
Now, roar-announcement, for any Big Cat who reads the Kougar's blogs and cares to leave a comment, a 100 word description (or less) of a cameo character suited for either the World of the Blue Pearl Moon or Adventures of the Red Lioness series -- yowling-yes, that lucky kitty will receive a free .pdf copy of either All Shades of Blue Paradise or Red Lioness Tamed.
The claw-selection of any winners will be purely smug-persnickety subjective (with no promises made! *slash, slash of the Kougar's long tail*), and chosen only by the Kougar (it's all about the Kougar here).
As to guidelines, only your individual imagination is the limit, and some amount of decency in presentation. Your character may be one you create, or it may be you in character, one you would like to play in the story. And, if your character is used, then you will receive an e-copy of the book where the character appears, plus a tiny, wee (we're talking nano-blink here)acknowledgement. By entering this whim-cat-aloof and absolutely unfair contest, you agree to yield all ownership of your character, as it appears in the Kougar's novel.
So, if you dare, entice the Kougar's imagination...but, beware! The Kougaress adores rough and tumble play, fangs and claws included.
One aloof smooch from the Kougar...
Happy Birthday Kiss
When it March Rains – it pours magically, sort of....
Happy Birthday kiss to moi...kisses to all my Big Cats. Here's my Title Magic Blog just for your sphynx eyes...
Today is my birthday, so I’m giving myself permission to let loose on the title of this blog and anything else. I don’t know why I’ve always held birthdays as a sacred event. It wasn’t something I was taught, or even experienced – except that in my ancient fifties’ era, birthday parties for us kids had come into suburban vogue. The fun, silly stuff. Pin-the-tail-on-the-donkey, playing fish for dime toys, running around, the girls all in skirt-swinging dresses, until the grownups rounded us up for the grand gift opening ceremony, where the birthday princess or prince reigned, and deigned which gifts were their favorites. Then it was the off-key, loudly sung, Happy Birthday, the occasional ‘you belong in a zoo’ version. The great mystical test of blowing out all those candles. Okay, sometimes an uncle would sneak on one of those candles that couldn’t be blown out. And always cake and ice cream afterwards, marshmallow frosting mixed with ice cream, and cake – what could be better?
Fortunately for you, dear Title Magicians and precious readers, I won’t provide a running history of my past birthdays, the good, bad, beautiful and ugly. We’ll leave that to Hollywood, when they come knocking, begging for my autobiographical screen play, perfect for the hi-def silver screen – yeah (is there a bridge I can sell ya?)...just a sarcasm-funny against myself.
No, this is a look back over the past year – before being e-published and now, as a newbie author – a giant whirlwind of a journey. So, I enter American Title IV, and to my disbelief, actually final. In the meantime, I have submitted When a Good Angel Falls to Siren Publishing, which they wanted to contract, but it wasn’t heat-sizzle enough for their line. After that angst of decision, I offer them All Shades of Blue Paradise instead, now e-pubbed, and I’m writing Book II. Also, I’ve written Red Lioness Tamed to enter into a Samhain cat-prowl contest. Which doesn’t make it, however, after several long months, Liquid Silver Books offers a contract, if I make some changes – no problem, will do. And did, and the lioness lives in cyber novel space. Meow-yay!
Exact timeline aside now, but eventually I was facing my first cover art and blurb requests. Okay, basically lots of fun for me, if a highly intense process – but, being an artist type person does have it’s advantages. Then, play the theme for Darth Vader...the edits. My heart-tripping fear is engaged. Edits were not a process I had ever done before. And, at one point, after intensely slaving over the revisions for ‘Blue Paradise’, I thought I’d lost them – hair-pulling time!!! Scream at the universe!
Happily, just my ignorance about all this tech-penning stuff. Okay, being an ancient baby boomer, it’s often been trial by learning-the-computer fire – no! don’t burn up my lovely, desperately needed computer...please, I luv you. How else do I run the gamut of slashing rain and wind toward that perfect promo opportunity, always lurking somewhere up ahead? Yep, my nerves are taking a serious beating, at times, on this side of publishing business. I have made several rookie mistakes. Sheesh, just attempting to figure it all out, is a head-dizzying wild ride. Because, bottom line, how do I connect with those readers who would enjoy my stories?
So, back to the sorta timeline. Now I’m out in the first round of the American Title...and after tons o’ chocolate, and the deep down blues, after the support of my great Title Magician friends, I come up swinging, submitting to other e-pubs. All who shall remain nameless, except for Aspen Mountain Press (contracted Tangerine Carnal Dreams) – because I’ve been writing for years and years, and have full manuscripts available – especially since my health, for the last couple of years, demands I do nothing else, except write.
And then, my release days, the first two mondays of March. Yep, magic pours through me as if I did stand beneath a pounding pouring rain. My gratitude floods through me. Not just because I am officially e-published, but also because the folks at Siren and Liquid Silver have been wonderful to work with, and, gee, I tingly adore my cover art.
The other side of the happy-dance coin. Reviews. The heart trembles with trepidation, and is there a handy rock I can hide under?
Meanwhile, Siren Publishing creates Bookstrand for book distribution and for accepting manuscripts which are not in the erotic romance genre. So now, yay-yay! When a Good Angel Falls has a new home and is due out late in 2008.
Not to mention the up and down, fast and furious winds of my daily blogging efforts at Kougar Kisses, and my forum participation with Passionate Ink, a chapter with RWA – and with the author loops. Plus, all that I have not included...this is not my diary...thank heavens, for you all.
Yep, it’s all good, but time-wise, overwhelming ~ as though constantly caught in a pouring thunderstorm.
Proudly, I will say have an article in the current Passionate Ink newsletter – just really cool to see it presented there, and the pics are incredible (thank you, Francesca).
Yesterday, in the e-mail box. The cover art request form from Aspen Mountain Press for Tangerine Carnal Dreams...yay! And help! Since Pleasures of Blue Lotus Oil, book II is going so well. And who wants to interrupt the writing-flow?
To some of you, this blog may have looked like just a long promo. Nope. This is a snippet of my journey from ATIV finalist to where I am now as a newbie e-author. Offered because, ya know, it’s my birthday, a sacred time for review and a time to look forward to the future. And because it might offer insights to anyone else on this particular journey, or someone who is about to embark on this type of writer’s journey.
Yup, it’s pouring magically...sort of...and I’m standing out in it getting drenched...the good, the bad, the ugly...mostly, the beautiful.
Wowza congrats to Helen for being a Golden Heart finalist with her manuscript, The Magic Knot.
Some of the best birthday presents ever!
Some of the best birthday presents ever!
Anitra, thank you so much. I'm hoping we all just keep on rolling big time!!!
Mel, thank you. May we all just get to have our dreams become bigger and better.
Raining of the Green
Rain, Big Kitties, rain as the Kougar has not heard for years! Large standing puddles of rain this deep gray afternoon around moi's domain. Drought in varying degrees has been the general rule for the last ten years or so. Hearing the rain pound, beat the ground for such a long time...peace, a feeling of joy, even though the Kougaress has not the least paw-affinity for mud.
Raining of the green or the bringing of the green, for the bounty of rain will bring forth the green of Spring. And the Kougaress rejoices! a spring to her ground-covering step ~ once the puddles soak into the Mother. A kiss for St. Patrick's cheek, for this is a true green-sweet blessing.
Promo-joy, oh hope springs green-eternal. Yesterday, the Kougar submitted Red Lioness Tamed, Liquid Silver Books, and All Shades of Blue Paradise, Siren Publishing to Passionate Ink's Book Notes ~ passionateink.org, a beautifully presented e-newsletter of recent releases sent to all members. Yay! It was meowing-fun.
Avoid the mischievous merry-making leprechauns, my brave Big Cats, and tread on over to Title Magic. Lexie offers us a bit of the blarney lore.
Great recitation of history, Lexie! I'd done a bit of research, but yours is better. It's fascinating to me how things divinely come about, St. Patrick's role being a perfect example.
Green beer, hey, even now I want to hurl -- you could torture me with the stuff, I swear.Now a nice honey mead raised on high to St. Patty, a kiss o' the shamrock...that's for me.
Raining of the green kisses...
Daffodils on the Ides of March
On this dreary chill day of dusk blue-silver horizon above the faded-tan pastures ~ on this day, Beware of the ides of March ~ the Kougar's daffodils thrive, yellow bursts of pure beauty with leaves of St. Patrick green along the side of her domain. These intrepid signs of spring have burst up from their winter-thick bed of leaves nourished by liberal amounts of doggie doo. The Kougaress can only smile her enchantment, and thank the creator goddess, and gaze upon them often.
The dreaded Ides of March, Lovely Big Cats ~ when Caesar meets his predicted infamous stabbing end. Roar-yes, at times humans will rebel against the oppression of tyranny. Purr-however, with a tiny amount of research, the Kougaress has once again discovered how little our true heritage is valued. For, March 15 was celebrated, venerated as the first day of the year. Yowl the obvious, may spiritual common sense prevail ~ spring is rebirth, the planting lands warm to a new fertility. The foals drop from their dam's belly to soon frolic over the tender green of their pastures. Baby birds chirp their new lives, hungry to feed and live.
This day should be greeted, an anticipation of the sun's light more and more upon the land, more and more revitalizing all of us Big Kitties to our new possibilities, the renewal of our lives. And, perhaps, that is the underlying vibe, the roaring happy celebration of St. Patrick's day, the festive carefree brightness of the parades. Indeed, the wearing of the green. Or, the wearing of Spring.
Aristocratic Fantasy or Kick-Ass Lioness
Big Kitties...the Kougar's head whirls 'big fat' explosively with all this promo stuff! What works? What doesn't? Where are the best opportunities? For reaching those 'darling readers' -- purr, rub, rub, purr -- who would most enjoy her e-novels? Those who read, those precious people and sentient critters, and the reason the Kougar wrote her stories, other than for her own excessively grand and enchanting entertainment.
But a moment's break from brain-on-overwhelm promo ~ For this breaking weird puzzlement! Big Beautiful Cats! Get a slanted gleaming eyeball of this! It's all in the pics. What moi is calling the Dog-Cheetah. Because to the studying eye of the Kougaress this 'more-than-fascinating beastie' looks like someone's attempt to blend cheetah and canine genes into a new hybrid. For further info saunter on over to coasttocoastam.com.
Title Magic, Lovely Big Cats, our super librarian, Mel, educates the Kougar, crystal and clear as the looking glass...fall through the looking glass into your favorite library where magic always lives.
Mel, that was fascinating. Being out on the prairie, library access is limited! And if I could do the 'get to know you' signings and programs, I would. But being severely allergic to perfumes, cigarette smoke, etc. -- being around groups just doesn't work. However, the bookmarks are an excellent idea -- for the over 18 crowd.
My favorite library! When I was writing a medieval love story (yay! no footnotes!) for my final paper in a college Medieval history class -- yes, my professor agreed, and I got top honors for it -- given this was before Ren Festival, I researched for the details of medieval life down at the UMKC, University of Missouri, Kansas City library -- boy, I luved that place!
