Tobias had hoped that by bringing his family to this new world, they would have a chance to build a life for themselves, away from the unsubstantiated hatred. The endless wilderness of this place would take generations to populate, even for creatures as ambitious as man.

You too can fend off an armed-to-the-teeth killer, or even a geared-up murder squad by merely reaching into your drawer, grabbing those handy dandy pair of scissors, brandishing them meaningfully, and going on the attack... if necessary, that is. Yeah, and they're especially effective if blunt-tipped, and only a few inches long. Good luck!

6.0 magnitude earthquake shakes southeastern Alaska
January 31, 2013 – ANCHORAGE, Alaska —A strong shallow earthquake has shaken southeastern Alaska, but officials say there is no danger of a tsunami and there are no immediate reports of any damage. The U.S. Geological Survey said the 6.0 magnitude quake struck about 1 a.m. Thursday and was centered in the ocean, about 188 miles south of the capital, Juneau.
