Evening mews and meows, weekender wild Pussycats... the temps warmed up nicely on the tame prairie today, for which this Big Cat is grateful... so, the Chinese Year of the Snake is coming upon us on Feb 10th... the Kougaress hadn't thought of this, but as Douglas Dietrich, radio host at ~freedomslips.com~, was just saying snakes are viewed differently in the Eastern cultures... snake venom is actually medicinal, and snake oil itself has many good medicinal properties, as the Kougaress has read about previously... one could then surmise that not all snake oil salesman were bad... and, in fact, they were demonized by the drug sellers of that time, their product being laudanum, "a solution prepared from opium and formerly used as a narcotic painkiller" to quote the dictionary... and, of course, the Caduceus, symbol for the US medical system, features two twining snakes... wisdom is also the province of the snake, according the Eastern beliefs... gee, wouldn't that be nice if 'wisdom' made a big return to the world at this time?

Very interesting story on the lion/man sculpture! With carbon dating putting it so old, you just have to wonder about its creator. Was it a normal life siting or a dream creature?
Serena, exactly... a normal life siting or a dream creature... from what I've read about the really ancient history, and heard over the years, I think this is or was a real race. Cool, if they would show up, as long as they were friendly.
