Rise of the Mythological Cryptids ... yes, these beasts of myth and lore are rising into our awareness, once again. Mermaids, the Mer-people, have garnered headlines, and deservedly so. With the recent news report featuring a newly discovered 'muppet' creature, the revelations around BIG FOOT DNA, the sighting of a goat man in Kentucky and surrounding sites... and now, guess what? UNICORNS are being rediscovered. Okay, there was no actual sighting reported in the news snippet below -- although, there have been sightings, once in Africa by Veronica Tudor Williams -- but here's an archeological discovery.

Google's Ingress: William Henry is Outraged

William Henry, Chad Steumke and Mark Gray are all deeply involved in the search for stargates and portals to other realities. Here, they discuss why they believe that Google's new game, Ingress, debases this quest by using it as the basis for conflict-centered game. The game trivializes a quest that has profoundly affected the lives of many people, including William, Chad and Mark, by reducing it to a conflict-soaked fictional narrative. At the same time, a significant amount of genuine information has been used in the game, creating the false impression that the search for stargates is in some way related to conflict, which it is not.

Bigfoot Sounds

Bigfoot sounds have been recorded for years, and Ron Moorehead of BigfootSounds.com probably knows more about this than any other researcher in the field. Mayans Protest Doomsday Claims

As December 21st comes closer, the Mayans of Guatemala are speaking out against what some are calling a government- and tour business-led effort to profit off a major misinterpretation of their traditions.

In the Huffington Post, Jaweed Kaleem quotes Felipe Gomez as saying, "We are speaking out against deceit, lies and twisting of the truth, and turning us into folklore-for-profit. They are not telling the truth about time cycles."

Kaleem quotes Gomez as saying that the Dec. 21 "doomsday" is actually the beginning of a new time cycle on the Mayan calendar and "means there will be big changes on the personal, family and community level, so that there is harmony and balance between mankind and nature."

Gomez and his fellow Mayan Guatemalans are especially disgusted by the "doomsday tour" packages that are being planned by the Guatemalan Culture Ministry to attract an estimated 90,000 people to Guatemala City in December.

Mesoamerican expert Paul Stuart agrees with the Mayans. Kaleen quotes him as saying, "The Maya never said anything about the end of the world or anything about a great change in the universe on that date. The calendar not only continues after that date, it goes 70 octillion years into the future." The current doomsday predictions are "all mostly coming out of New Age interpretations and mysticism about Mayan calendrics, which are not based on archeology, anthropology or scholarship."
