Zeke gave a nod to Van. “You mean the submersible, right, pardner. Not that last time I whupped your butt ridin’ Ranger against your Knight.” Van’s eyes gleamed with a touch of good-natured remembrance before he flashed a grin. “You only pulled that win out, pardner, by the seat of your denims because that fine mare was makin’ eyes at my Knight.” Zeke returned Van’s grin, then saluted with his mug. Perching on the edge of the table, Van took a swallow of his coffee. “Gentleman,” he began, “you did one helluva a job . From our latest data the dimensional...”

Sylva whipped her gaze toward the woman’s voice. ‘Who are you?’ Diminutive, slender and dressed in the manner of an East Indian woman, the woman gazed at her steadily. Her hands were folded as if in prayer. And her skin was green. Or, rather her coffee-dark skin shone with a green tint. Sylva blinked in amazement, staring. “This is my home.” The woman gestured, indicating the whole room. Taking a step back, even though she didn’t feel threatened, Sylva asked, “Am I intruding?” After a slight shake of her head, the woman offered a smile. “No. My husband invited you.”

Zeke activated the private view screen checking on his Sylva. She appeared to be resting comfortably. Feeling somewhat relieved, he switched off the screen and took a healthy swallow of the restorative brew he’d been given. The hot coffee mixture hit the spot and he strode toward what was known as a gathering table. Easing down into a sturdy chair, he joined the rest of the crew and two other men. One he recognized from their days on the competitive riding circuit. Van was currently the regional Sheriff, duly elected to the position some seven years ago. “Zeke, righteous ride.”

With almost 20,000 people present, on July 31st and August 1, 2010, a new world record was set for the most giant octopus kites flown at one time, at 22, in Berkeley California at Cesar Chavez Park. These kites are not for the novice and controlling them takes quite a bit of experience. The kites are 20 feet wide and almost 100 feet in length and were not the only ones in the air. Kites in various sizes were also present, piloted by attendees and professional kite fliers.

What a financial ‘malfunction’ day...

The Kougaress misread charges on her bank statement and thought she’d been billed twice... so nipping that in the bud became a priority... fortunately, it was moi’s error, so nothing had to be untangled... whewsa... but, oh the trauma involved!!! THEN! She found out that the check for the water bill never made it last month... the water company doesn’t have online payments... there has never been a problem before with mailing them [no, this Big Cat didn’t forget. It’s all down in the black and white in her checkbook]... so, what happened? That will probably remain an eternal mystery. If it was lost, where? If it was stolen, so far, it hasn’t been cashed. That means, moi will be pestering the water company to find out when her current check arrives, just to make certain... yeah, more time spent on the ‘stuff’ designed to keep you trapped.

MALFUNCTION... Malfunctions... what is your major malfunction? That seems to be the general theme for today, as moi looks out at the world and watches the financial markets swirl down into the toilet bowl... as she observes her own banking mistake, and as she learns even more about the lies we all grew up with. Sylva decided she’d ask the next question that was logical to her. ‘Did you summon me here, or bring me here somehow?’ Nothing. Finally, she shrugged mentally. While she remained intrigued, still, she would rather return to her Zeke. How? That was the question. In a wild sudden flash, she stood as her astral body within a well-lit chamber. On every wall ~ she rotated slowly ~ writing, reminiscent of the symbol-writing she’d seen in photos of the Great Pyramid, covered the entire surface... as if it was a journal of some kind. Maybe, a record of events. ‘What do you feel?’

Zeke maneuvered the submersible into it’s docking chute. Anxious as a pacing stud to see his bride, he gratefully released the controls to Jamison, and stepped aside. Benjamin expertly shut the underwater craft down, once he’d sent the collected data to the center’s main computer. “A quick de-briefing, gentlemen, and we’ll all head to the nearest rec or bunk.” Zeke frowned before he realized it. His dad clapping him on the back eased him a bit, and he gave him a grateful grin. Together, they moved to disembark. “Yup, I need to speak with your mother. Miss that woman bad.”

Hey, where’s my personal dragon? And, my own Pegasus? Heck, I’d even take a flying cow, right now.

Plus, these cameras are coming to a car near you, right on your rearview mirror... like the one you’ll be driving. Not only that, this so-called friendly ‘big brother’ system will record the car’s performance and your performance as a driver. And will record *God Knows What Else* data about you. Where you are every instant of everyday. And we all know that can’t be hacked or changed to make you appear guilty of a crime you didn’t commit.
If you believe that, I got a moon bridge to sell ya... oh, maybe that was a bridge on Mars... but, hey, it’s a heck of deal...

Hot-temp yowls from the tame prairie, my angelic and devilish Felines... last night around ten-ish, the Kougaress saw it! The stunningly beautiful conjunction of the planet Venus, Mars and Saturn... that celestial site will live in this Big Cat’s soul... there was a magical and majestic quality, as if the Heavens are reaching out to us with love.

Omy, the Kougaress had to do some necessary shopping.... eeeyowls! It could be compared to being in the trenches... not that anything disastrous occurred, other than an item moi was expecting hadn’t shown up yet... so, she ended spending more than she’d intended... yeah, baby meows, it was stuff she did need... however, this Big Cat wanted a quick in and out, especially given the high 90's heat wave.

When the Kougaress returned to her lair after an emotionally harrowing morning of have-to-do stuff, and finally entered internet-landia, it was closing in on three in the afternoon. Of course, she immediately claw-clicked onto SHAPESHIFTER SEDUCTIONS hoping Katta and Zio’s flash would be appreciated... and discovered, thanks to romance author and ATIV buddy, Pat Cunningham, that BRANDED BY THE TEXANS was still #1 on Siren-BookStrand’s bestseller list, at that time.

Sylva felt somewhat mesmerized. The man she’d seen, who had morphed from being a bear as if it were normal, looked Native American, an elder. She wondered if he were Mayan, though, she really didn’t have a clue. ‘Mayan?’ she tried telepathing to him. ‘I am from a race before the Maya, daughter of two Earths.’ Startled, Sylva didn’t reply for several moments. ‘How did you know?’ Probably a ridiculous question, but what else would she ask. ‘We watch all the gates between Earths. It is our way.’ Well, that made as much sense as anything else she’d been through.

Zeke dang certain agreed, as did the others from the following comments he heard. Seemed like to him Mother Earth was havin’ her say about being ill used by the BP sidewinders. Wonderin’ about how else the Mother was being used for evil purposes, Zeke figured that discussion needed to take place at the center. He’d be hanging-damned if he’d let their Earth be turned into Beelzebub’s playground as his Sylva’s Earth had been. Directing his attention fully on negotiating the underground water entrance, Zeke didn’t listen to rest of the conversin’ going on. God, he needed his darlin’ Sylva.

Sylva quickly decided the shaggy, dark brown behemoth foraging for food was no ordinary bear. Not as she knew them. Of course, bears could be different on this Earth. Woowee, it’s a monster. The goddess, Pele, ain’t happy about something, I’d say.”

Still, if this was crucial to his Earth... is it? she asked mentally, then felt another shiver of apprehension. ‘Come on, what about my honeymoon... and it was going so well. Besides, I haven’t even seen his ranch yet.’ A loud rustling sound had her astrally whipping around. A bear appeared, so monstrous in size Sylva recoiled before she realized there wasn’t any danger. ‘Grizzly bear?’

Zeke listened intently to Benjamin countdown their emergence from the danger zone. Quickly, the sea turned choppy rather than twistin’ and jumpin’ like a bronc determined to throw him. Soon enough they torpedoed. skimming the ocean’s surface. Zeke heaved a mental sigh of relief, and let his muscles loosen as he continued piloting the submersible. “The readings are still off the chart,” Jamison announced. “Never seen anything like this spewing monster volcano,” his dad added, “the underwater images are gonna knock some boots off in the science community.” Benjamin growled a grunt. “Looks like a team has been sent out.”
