Ernst Jünger said masks would become commonplace to eradicate individuality.
Respected German author Ernst Jünger predicted the ubiquitousness of face masks to enforce conformity and uniformity in a dystopian future society in a novel called The Worker that was published nearly 90 years ago.
With face masks now becoming a mandatory part of the “new normal,” the enforcement measures to make people wear them, by both agents of the state and members of the general public, are becoming more dehumanizing and draconian.
This is precisely the scenario envisaged by enigmatic German author Ernst Jünger in his 1932 classic.
As Thomas Crew details in his article The Dystopian Age of the Mask, the “eradication of all individuality” is a running theme of all dystopian literature.
This is expressed by George Orwell in 1984 when he describes the masses as, “a nation of warriors and fanatics, marching forward in perfect unity, all thinking the same thoughts and shouting the same slogans…three hundred million people all with the same face.”
Crew explains that this theme is dominant in Jünger’s The Worker, where, “The uniformity of the new age is symbolized…by the sudden proliferation of the mask in contemporary society.”
“It is no coincidence,” he writes, “that the mask is again beginning to play a decisive role in public life. It is appearing in many different ways … be it as a gas mask, with which they are trying to equip entire populations; be it as a face mask for sport and high speeds, seen on every racing driver; be it as a safety mask for workplaces exposed to radiation, explosions, or narcotic substances. We can assume”, he continues, with an eerie prescience, “that the mask will come to take on functions that we can today hardly imagine.”
Crew explains how the public has been brainwashed to believe that the continuation of life, no matter how stifled, atomized and undignified it may be, is the only consideration.
“Given the sudden ubiquity of the face mask in 2020, across the entire globe and in an increasing number of social contexts, it is impossible to avoid the conclusion that this is precisely the sort of development Jünger had in mind. Our readiness to obscure the face reflects the dehumanising tendencies that, for Jünger, underlie the modern period. It represents another stage in the degradation of the individual that became explicit in the First World War. Whether as a scrap of material on the battlefield or a cog in the machine of the wartime economy, the modern age has a habit of reducing the human being to a functional object. Everything “non-essential” – everything, that is, that makes us human – is blithely discarded.”
As we document in the video below, the level of compliance that governments and the media have been able to indoctrinate people to embrace means there is little need for police officers and security officials to enforce mask wearing.
A cowed public, whipped up into a frenzied lust for obedience, will do it for them.

Democrat official confirms nefarious agenda behind coronavirus lockdowns
LA County’s public health chief has come under fire after saying that local schools would not reopen until after the 2020 presidential election, prompting criticism that officials are putting politics ahead of science.
The county’s health director, Barbara Ferrer, recently told local educators that schools would remain shuttered until the beginning of November, repeatedly referring to the upcoming election, according to leaked audio obtained by LA radio station KFI AM 60.
“We don’t realistically anticipate that we would be moving to either tier 2 or to reopening K-12 schools at least until after the election, in early November,” Ferrer said on the conference call.

FORMER CIA OFFICER: “VIOLENCE WILL EXPLODE” IF TRUMP WINS RE-ELECTION
Unrest will continue even if Biden wins because mob will try to take full control of his administration.
A former CIA ops officer who spent decades undercover in the Middle East and South Asia warns that “violence will explode” if Trump wins re-election and will probably continue anyway even if Biden wins.
In an op-ed for Revolver News, Sam Faddis characterizes the recent riots, described as “mostly peaceful” by the media, as nothing less than an “insurrection.”
Faddis says that the rioters are not merely unorganized mobs, but a “manifestation of years of preparation, organization, and sponsorship from a vast network of foundations and front organizations,” including George Soros’s Open Society.
Faddis points out that the rioters have openly stated their goal, the “abolition of the United States as we know it and its replacement with a Marxist state.”
The former CIA officer predicts another wave of violence if Trump wins re-election, but also warns that the unrest will continue even if Biden wins because the revolutionaries will seek to take full control of his administration.
“That is why it is profoundly delusional to believe the riots of the past three months will end with the November election. They will not,” writes Faddis.
“Should President Trump win, his victory will immediately be declared invalid and illegitimate by the mob, and the level of violence will explode. If Biden wins, the people and groups tearing this nation apart will consider him their puppet and will accelerate their efforts at revolution. If Biden proves unwilling or unable to accommodate them, he will suffer the same fate as Portland mayor Ted Wheeler, who endures antifa harassment of his home as the price of failing to submit.”
“This is not about reform. It is about revolution, and revolutions don’t care about elections,” he concludes.
As we previously highlighted, earlier this month a pro-Biden polling firm announced that the results on election night could show Trump winning in a landslide, but that after all the mail-in votes were counted, Biden would be victorious with room to spare.
Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg also said that Americans must get used to the idea that the election result may take “weeks” to be confirmed after voting on November 3 and that “civil unrest” is likely.
Trump supporters see this as clear intention that Democrats will refuse to honor the election result if the president wins.
Twitter has also announced it will remove any tweets claiming victory before election results are certified, which will essentially blocked Trump supporters from challenging the legitimacy of any delay in announcing the winner.

In another example of pushback by citizens against draconian COVID-19 lockdown measures, a Canadian Common Law Assembly has passed a bylaw prohibiting COVID restrictions in several communities on Vancouver Island.
The Oceanside Common Law Assembly (OCLA) passed a public safety bylaw last month declaring that any government officials who attempt to enforce COVID restrictions, including mandatory distancing, masking, quarantines, and vaccinations in Parksville and Qualicum Beach may face fines and imprisonment.
