Aramilla stood rooted to the spot, unable to move as the vampire glided up to her. He smiled at her, his fangs gleaming in the moonlight. His eyes were the color of the ocean at midnight, deep and threatening to drag her under. He sketched a mockery of a bow to her and said—
“Howdy, Miss.”
Chloe’s hand jerked, knocking the pen from her fingers. It rolled across the table and came up against the hand of one of the two cowboys she’d been studying earlier.

An Ocean of Lies and More Damn Lies ... the longer the Kougaress lives, the more HUGE lies she discovers each and every day... hell, every freaking effing moment... yeah, courtesy of the dark-side's social engineers. The very foundations of her life, or what she was taught growing up, IS ALL A BUNCH OF LIES DESIGNED TO CONTROL AND SUPPRESS AND OPPRESS... AND MURDER THE SPIRIT, SEPARATE US FROM THE SOUL...
Well, this is a complaining rant... because the Kougaress is damn tired of it... very tired of living in this monstrous sea of dastardly lies that hit from every direction at every moment... she can't stand it!!! at this point... it's like chalk grating on a chalkboard for most of her day... and the ads... mygawd! Oh, and not to mention the brain-drain news, the standard-fare articles blasting their spin, their half-truths, their omissions, there lies.
The Kougaress doesn't watch TV, thank the Divine! But, what a freak-show, horror movie, having to glimpse these lying, banal, for-idiots ads day after day, just to negotiate the internet. It's damn distressing...
So, just to hear the truth spoken, or seeing the truth in the written word, to learn what is really true about history for example, is unbelievable refreshing. It's a physical relief for this Big Cat.
Bottom line: the soul craves truth, hungers for authenticity. It's truly who we are as the human race.
No, of course, the truth isn't often pretty or fun or popular. At this point in time, sometimes revealed truth is beyond horrible, beyond ugly to know... it hurts like a hundred hells with fire-burning pits, and a lineup of devils with pitchforks... it feels as if it destroys on contract... but, in the long run only knowing the truth will save us all...
