Ever have one of those writing moments when a word sounds right, but somehow doesn’t sound right for how you just used it in a sentence? Well, as the Kougar was closing in on the end of her short story, the word ‘wracked’ showed up. However, instead of using ‘wracked’ as in ‘wracked with pain’ .... well, this Big Cat author ended up doing an i-search and found this via Googlie as typical examples... although, as it turns out ‘wracked’ has been used for sexual pleasure sensations as well.

Big Cat Note: The so-called sexual liberation of women has been a double-edged sword. Women have been horribly repressed sexually in the past, and in the recent past [and are still being repressed in brutal ways throughout the world]. This Big Cat grew up in that era of repression, and suffered greatly because of it. However, the soulless psychopaths globalists have coopted much of the women’s movement, and have, too often, redirected the sexual liberation into a ‘sex object’ culture. While agreeing with much of what this article talks about, the Kougar does not agree that it is as simple as ‘men’ editors being ‘afraid’. As this Big Cat has blogged about before, if women truly realized their power, their beauty, who they actually are at a deep spiritual level... well, our world would be transformed toward the GOOD in the blink of an eye. Thus, every effort is being made to keep women down and out while deceiving all of us into believing women are liberating themselves.

The Reason Things Seem Sexier Now

The portrayal of women in the popular media over the last several decades has become increasingly sexualized, even "pornified." The same is not true of the portrayal of men. This could be a reflection of what's happening to women's lives in this economy.
These findings may be cause for concern because previous research has found sexualized images of women to have far-reaching negative consequences for both men and women. Two sociologists studied this by examining the covers of Rolling Stone magazine from 1967 to 2009. Why Rolling Stone? Sociologist Erin Hatton says, "We chose (it) because it is a well-established, pop-culture media outlet. It is not explicitly about sex or relationships; foremost it is about music. But it also covers politics, film, television and current events, and so offers a useful window into how women and men are portrayed generally in popular culture."
After analyzing more than 1,000 images of men and women on Rolling Stone covers over the course of 43 years, the researchers came to several conclusions. First, representations of both women and men have indeed become more sexualized over time; and, second, women continue to be more frequently sexualized than men. Their most striking finding, however, was the change in how VERY sexualized images of women--but not men--have become.
Hatton says, "What we conclude from this is that popular media outlets such as Rolling Stone are not depicting women as sexy musicians or actors, they are depicting women musicians and actors as ready and available for sex. This is problematic, because it indicates a decisive narrowing of media representations of women."
This is especially odd because during this period, a record number of women became heads of government and business CEOs. Could this be due to a sense of fear and uneasiness on the part of (male) magazine editors?

My glorious and gifted Big Cats... yes, Mr. Sol is now on a different path across the sky... the Kougaress kept her eye on him today... the sun definitely set closer to the west, although it was still somewhat northwest... however, it wasn’t way, way in the northwest, on the other side of the sorta outdoor porch building like before... yee-owws! another major discombobulating day... it’s like being pulled in several directions at once, and not knowing which direction is the priority... however, lots did get done... with piles more to go... no! It never ends!!!

How to Grow a Series

Let me rephrase that: this is how I grow a series. In general. I’m a pantser, so my approach to any novel, let alone a series, tends to be haphazard. I don’t sit down and plot out a nine-book epic with every single twist and plot point outlined and described. God bless those who can. It’d be a lot easier if I could, but my mind doesn’t work that way.
Tip one: don’t wait for inspiration. You can’t expect your muse to drop in on a regular basis. She may go on strike or get caught up in a CSI marathon or something and leave you holding the keyboard with a blank screen to fill. Forget about her. Sit down and write. You may find your best inspirations happen when you’re in the middle of working. As your fingers fly, so do your thoughts. It’s like dominos. One idea knocks over others, and so on down the line.

TV Ads are Sneaking into our Brains

A new study helps explain why some ads seem to stick in our minds. It turns out that certain types of commercials trick the hippocampus area of the brain (where long-term memories are stored) believing that the scene we just watched on television actually happened--to us. This is done by evoking nostalgic scenes (such as Christmas) that bring up vivid emotions in most viewers.
In an experiment 100 participants were told about a new type of popcorn, then they were randomly assigned to watch different commercials. Some watched ads with little imagery, that just described the product, while others watch a commercial that showed happy people enjoying the product in their living room. The product, however, doesn't really exist. A week later, the two groups were asked about their memory of the product and (as you might expect), the ones who saw the living room ad had decided that the product being advertised was delicious.
In Wired.com, Jonah Lehrer quotes a paper by researchers Priyali Rajagopal and Nicole Montgomery as saying, "The scientists refer to this as the 'false experience effect,' since the ads are slyly weaving fictional experiences into our very real lives. Viewing the vivid advertisement created a false memory of eating the popcorn, despite the fact that eating the non-existent product would have been impossible. As a result, consumers need to be vigilant while processing high-imagery advertisements."
Depression can be used as a selling tool as well. Big business is using our moods as a marketing ploy, in order to capitalize on shoppers who are in various states of mind (and plenty of people are depressed these days!) For instance, a depressed person is more likely to respond to the FEEL of a hand lotion, while a cheerful shopper is likely to respond more to the product's festive packaging.

Late post again, but not because I couldn't think of anything. I woke up this morning with the absolute best plot idea for Rex and Babbs. I'm late posting because I scrapped what I had written for this instead. Here's part two of "Change of Plans!"

Sweat streamed down her neck and back as she ran. She stifled the urge to giggle. This was no joke, though it had started off as one. A loud crash to her left had her jumping to the right on reflex. She was stifling squeals of fright now. At the last second, she spotted an ancient fallen tree, mostly rotted with a huge bowl in the earth where it’s roots had torn free. It was—maybe—just barely big enough for her to hide in but not big enough for her pursuer to follow. Not taking time to think about that last though, she dashed under it, the feel of hot wolf breath on her neck making sure she knew just how close of a call that had been.

After midnight meows, my glamorous and gorgeous Pussycats... early this morning the Kougaress had a definite shock to her system... working on her post for SHAPESHIFTER SEDUCTIONS, she was up when the sun came up... and there was ole Sol rising close to due east, as He used to do, instead of in the northeast, as has been happening since Spring, at least. Wow, did the Kougaress stare!!! just to make certain.
From this Big Cat’s logical view that means Earth altered position once again for some celestial reason... the sun rising in the east coupled with the dark nights again, sans the over-bright sky... well, again, what the hell is happening... which NASA will ‘never’ tell the truth about. The Kougaress absolutely despises NASA!!! Big time. Because THEY are such out and out liars, and deceivers.
And, oh, gee, not to mention all the earthquake activity today, certainly a possible indication that Earth changed position relative to the sun’s position in the heavens.

“Oh, yeah... me, too! Vampire, werewolf, big cat shapeshifter, I don’t care. Give me fangs.” Her friend’s voice trilled with barely contained lust above the clatter of spoons in real mugs, and the after-work conversations.
Both of the twenty-somethings giggled like naughty schoolgirls, then wriggled in their best imitation of a porno queen. Their breasts bounced and their hips shook as they stood on tiptoe, scanning the crowd.
Desiree mentally shook her head, watching their faces positively glisten, as if the vampire-werewolf-big cat shifter of their dreams would suddenly rise up, stride toward them like a demon-possessed alpha, and carry them off for days of the most decadent and indescribable pleasures.

Late night meows, my super duper KitKats... since the first of the year, at least, the sky has been overly bright in appearance whether clear or overcast... however, for the past three nights or so, the dark of night has returned... granted the sky has been overcast, not a star to be seen anywhere... anyhoo-mew, this just makes this Big Cat shake her head, and wonder...?
Do you suffer from decision fatigue... the Kougaress just saw this headline... gee, wow, gosh darn, WHO wouldn’t be suffering from decision fatigue in these times? Maybe a navel-gazing guru. Maybe someone who is so spiritually advanced they can rise above us lesser souls... maybe...

Headlines... it used to be in the good ole days that if a newspaper headline or a TV news show exposed corruption, said corruption would at least be stopped temporarily, and some heads might roll in the non-literal sense, even if it was only the underlings [it’s always been the underlings merely disguised as the in-charge bad guy] ... HOWEVER!!! Now headlines have simply become an announcement of success by the white collar mafia guys. Yep, it’s become OPEN SEASON... the message: it’s time to go out and shoot all the ‘Bambis’ you can.
This lightbulb moment of realization ‘hit’ when this Big Cat saw the blurb about the bank of america foreclosing on an elderly couple’s house because they PAID OFF the mortgage... get this! *Too early* ... the woman is 70 years old and her husband is dying...
About five years back, the Kougaress learned about a scam where banks would wait until a senior citizen was close to paying off their mortgage, and after checking to see if they could pay off the loan, they would call in the loan if they believed the senior couldn’t pay, and then foreclose if the individual couldn’t come up with the final payments... nice, huh?
Anyway... before seeing the foreclosure story, this Big Cat learned about a woman with cancer who is too sick to work, and can’t qualify for insurance... however, she was bravely carrying on by selling her possessions in her ‘own’ yard... some idiot-pathetic neighbor, without one ounce of compassion, called city code enforcement on her, and this woman was actually arrested. For what? Gee, I guess you can only have so many yard sales a year...
BUT, WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH FOLKS NOW??? The Kougaress is forced to wonder about the psychological sickness sweeping our culture these days. Kids not being allowed to sell lemonade without being fined... girl scouts can’t sell cookies without a license... a woman can’t grow vegetables in her front yard when there is no code against it... cell phones turned off over a peaceful demonstration with no thought about the consequences to someone who might need to call for emergency assistance... cops writing tickets for generating revenue while crime goes unchecked... the military being used as police or taking over police operations despite the fact that this breaks the law... tons of weapons sold to drug cartels in Mexico on the orders of the government with cops and border patrol agents being killed by those guns... those selling raw milk being treated like drug dealers... raid after raid on natural supplement stores and businesses when there has been no complaint about the products... and these are only a few examples... not to mention these insane scenarios just keep growing exponentially... HELP! YOWLS! HELP!

Whatever is GOOD will be ‘rising up’ at this time, especially in your personal life. Grab GOOD with both hands, don’t let go, and keep an eye out for more.
For the following week, know that many of those known as world leaders are in the process of falling from grace. This ‘fall’ accelerates to fast forward, as who they truly are, is revealed more and more to the people. Look for the expected and the unexpected in this long period of ‘downfall’, which will continue through January 2012.
As well, during this long period, there will be ‘downfalls’ in your personal life wherever your integrity is lacking. All around you, at this time, humanity will be in the same boat. Individuals will be facing those areas of their life that are not up to par, and need to be changed in accordance with their higher nature.
However, a word of caution. Real discernment is required at this time. What could look like a ‘downfall’ situation to you, and to society -- perhaps someone you know becomes homeless -- may not be. More likely it is just the opposite, and the situation is ‘revealing’ those who are of poor moral character, and need to be lawfully dealt with.
Think of this time as the dead wood of your life being cleared away. This will be occurring in your personal life and in the world at large. It is advised that you look carefully at your life, and at how you relate to others. For, this is the perfect opportunity to make the changes you want most, and move forward with those you love the most.
As humanity enters the last dramatic flip-flopping influences of the Piscean Age, long-kept secrets will be dropping like hailstones on our heads. Some of these ‘secrets’ will be vital for our personal well being, and for the well being of society. For many, these revelations will bring a breath of fresh air, especially to all those who value the truth.
However, some of these leaked ‘secrets’ will be mammoth hoaxes designed to control the people into believing lies. This is because ‘those’ on the dark side have decided to bring about a state of hardcore martial law. Their determination can be compared to the ‘berserker raiders’, since they will stop at nothing to achieve their endgame, complete tyranny over humanity.
Trendwise, think ‘beautiful worlds’ and ‘rise of the renegades’. Both of these trends have been introduced before. However, now is the time to create ‘beautiful worlds’ in whatever manner of artistic expression you choose. Also, as the Rise of the Renegades continues, this will become an increasingly popular theme. The renegades, the legendary heroes and heroines of ye olden times who helped folks, will be resurrected. Also, new characters will be created.
A trend to be aware of, is the ‘eventual’ decimation of the health care system, and the fall of the insurance industry. Many hospitals will collapse and fail in the next year’s time. In the meantime, they will often provide abominable care while ‘keeping up appearances’. Finally, Nick thought with a heartfelt sigh, Fate had decided to cut him a break. After teasing at rain all day, the clouds had hightailed it and left the evening sky pristine and soon to be star-strewn. The brilliant sunset drew the attention of the families gathering on the Larry Talbot High School football field. The turnout was already better than Nick could have hoped for, and growing by the minute.
“We’ve got the popcorn machine set up,” Zeva informed him. “I just hope the soda holds out.” She also scanned the burgeoning crowd with a look of satisfaction. “Looks like we’ve got us a winner.”
“Knock wood,” Nick muttered, but he smiled. Talbot’s Peak’s first Family Movie Night, sponsored by the Guts and Butts Gazette, already looked to be a success, and they hadn’t even threaded the projector yet. Well, yeah, sure, Brandon Wayne was actually picking up the tab, but Bat Boy had insisted his name be kept out of it and the paper get all the credit. Since proceeds would go to the local Cub Scouts, Nick didn’t mind being hero of the evening.

Late night mews, my languorously reclining Big Beautiful Cats... not a fun day for this Big Cat... somehow, she got a flu-like virus... how? No clue, given she’s been on the tame prairie, only, for about a week, with no contact with anyone else. And nope, it wasn’t food poisoning, and probably not severe allergies... however, the Kougaress has noticed that when she spends any amount of time outside usually there is some negative consequence, as in not feeling good. So, she has to wonder what the heck is really going on? Good thing, she keeps her grapefruit seed extract handy and in good supply... because, yep, it worked and is working.

Also, many power companies are warning that they will be charging outrageous and unjustified rates for energy while also allowing rolling blackouts to occur... gee, how many folks are going to freeze this winter due to all this psychopathic duplicity and cruelty... not to mention energy producing facilities, good clean ones, are ready to go online, but are being stopped because they are not ‘friends’ with the current administration... gee, who knew corruption would reach this horrific level... some folks, did... but no, this Big Cat didn’t know, and didn’t guess it would ever reach this ‘hell on Earth’ level.

The Kougaress made it out to the grapes to see if any had survived the drought and the critters... there were some and they were some of best tasting grapes she’s ever eaten!!! Yum!

The C Word in Erotic Romance, What Now? Oh, a frazzled kitty author here... ~sighs~ When the Kougar was first pubbed in 2008, the C word or ‘cunt’ was in use at that time in some erotic romance novels, but, by far, not All. In fact, a lot of readers preferred for the word ‘not’ to be used except as bad language. While this Big Cat has no problem with other authors choosing to use ‘cunt’ for that part of the female anatomy, and certainly other authors are adept at using it in a sexy turn-on way... in fact, often, ’cunt’ is simply part of their heroine’s natural character, especially in contemporaries... however, cunt is not a word that has ever resonated with this Big Cat as something she would want to call her own feminine parts, so why would her heroines ‘erotically enjoy’ this particular word? Why would it send them into the throes of a mind-blowing orgasm?
That said, if a particular hero said ‘cunt’ in a loving and sexually powerful way that indicated his fierce passion for the heroine... well, likely, said heroine would ‘come’ to associate the use of the word by ‘him’ as a VERY GOOD THING. Love, intimacy and savage passion can create wondrous miracles.
Still... and it’s a big STILL, and who wouldn’t want a good working still in these times especially since anything that runs on gas can run on alcohol... but, the Kougar digresses. This Big Cat does not like to use ‘cunt’, except as a curse word, for two obvious reasons... one, the Kougar grew up only hearing the word used in a derogatory and soul-destroying way... and two, the *sound* of the word is abrasive to her ears, and doesn’t *feel* sexy-wild-uninhibited, given her particular sensual nature... in the same way, she doesn’t like the way the word ‘penis’ sounds, much preferring to use ‘cock’, in fact, the sound of the word ‘cunt’ is a turn-off and has that *chalk screeching on a chalkboard* feeling. Hearing that word, and penis, is guaranteed to take the Kougar out of an explicit moment of extreme passion should she be engaged in such.
But... and a gorgeously curved butt it is... the word ‘cunt’ is being claimed, and has been reclaimed as a positive name, a positive word, by many authors and readers. This is a good thing, and this Big Cat applauds the effort, and the success that has been achieved. On the down side for the Kougar, this means ‘cunt’ is now ubiquitous in erotic romance, and is expected by many readers. Like the use of fuck, fucking, fucked... cunt is now associated with eroticism... as in the book won’t be erotic, or be an erotic romance, unless ‘cunt’ is used.
This is sad for this Big Cat, since she certainly doesn’t associate incredible and ecstatic erotic pleasures, for herself or her heroines, with the use of the word, cunt. This is also true for the constant use of the word, FUCK, fucking, fucked. Since, gosh darn, unless used in a specific and obvious way... what the heck does ‘fuck’ really mean? It’s simply ‘telling’ instead of ‘showing’ what is sexually occurring. Certainly, that’s no titillating fun for this Big Cat.
On the practical, money-making end of things, not using ‘cunt’ [or an erotically unused cunt], means less sales for the Kougar. No, she really doesn’t want to compromise her writing principles, or the way she feels as a woman. It would hurt her soul. Plus, it wouldn’t be authentic for the reader. Likely, a reader would get that wonky feeling that this isn’t for ‘real’. And, it wouldn’t be. It wouldn’t be ‘authentic’ writing from this Big Cat author... the only caveat being if she actually had a heroine show up who actually enjoyed the word. Hey, strange stuff happens. However, that is unlikely to occur.
So, the Kougar is stuck between what is now called ‘purple prose’ and CUNT. Gee... how about this?
“Oh, baby, let me fuck your cunt.” Now, this is a turn-on for some women when said by the right hero, because we’re all different, thank the Goddess. In this Big Cat’s case, if she heard that... well... “Get. Away. From. ME!” And, either she’d continue by saying, “don’t let the door hit you on the way out.” ... or she would be leaving and not letting the door hit her butt.
No, give the Kougar a captive/capture, erotic romance fantasy any day where ‘cunt and fuck’ don’t exist, but explicit, raw and resplendent eroticism does. A world where gorgeous and beautiful words exist. Then, oh yeah, baby...
Here’s another sorta example:
He fucked her cunt for ten hours straight. [the no purple prose version]
OR [the semi-purple prose version]... His cock plundered her deliciously, his strokes changing from furious to tender for the entire night, and well into the morning. She not only loved it, she adored it. As she loved him, as she was now coming to adore him. Only him.
Yes, the Kougar could pen a drily-told, dark spoof where she uses ‘cunt’ as foreplay, during lovemaking and the sex act, when orgasm happens, and afterwards in the bliss state... however, would that story really sell?
Doubt it.
So, what now?
If the Kougar can’t or won’t write what readers want as far as cunt, or to cunt or not to cunt, that is the question... well, think of it this way -- it would be like asking a woman and a man to have chemistry together when there is none -- so, the question becomes, should this Big Cat even try to continue her career? If her heroines and heroes don’t think or ‘feel’ passion, eroticism and sex the way readers want it, and expect it... then... what?
