Good and loveable Big Kittens, All... it has come to the Kougar’s attention that there is a huge need for soul recognition in our beloved world, this current life on Mother Earth ~ despite the *Chicken Soup for the Soul* series of books.
This is a deep, deep subject... one that this Big Cat will probably handle awkwardly... so she is asking for your understanding and forbearance.
Yep, baby paw steps are needed here... in this process of recognizing and tending to the soul. To the best of her ability, as *part* of her upcoming bloggies, the Kougaress will offer her own experiences, the seeing of her soul through her eyes, through all of her senses, actually... her sixth sense included.
Much, of course, has written about the soul throughout the ages... what it is, what it isn’t... does or doesn’t it exist?
This Big Cat has always known the Soul existed. One of those sacred knowings she was born with. Understanding the soul, and her soul in this world and this culture... is a whole other matter... that’s taken a long lifetime and is an ongoing work-in-progress, a never-ending novel of life.
For example ~ Feeding the Soul With Fire ~ in one of those ah-ha moments, brought about by several convergent ideas, moi realized her soul is nurtured, actually fed by fire... watching candle flames, feeling the heat of a fire in a fireplace, smelling the fragrant smoke of different woods, hearing the whispering rush of the sinuous flames as they live, consuming oxygen.
No, not surprising, given she’s an Aries. However, a fireplace with a roaring dancing blaze is not only an enjoyment, but is something much more profound... it is a sublime and fierce energy that feeds her soul. As Whitley Strieber ~ unknowncountry.com ~ put it, to paraphrase... the soul is actually another organ, one, we as a culture haven’t recognized and certainly don’t tend to.
This may be a radical thought for some, though, for this Big Cat, it rings true inside, as if every beautiful church bell is ringing, in fact. It also makes sense, given what moi has experienced in life, the result of her journey, thus far.
What else brought about this ah-ha moment? The Kougar’s author friend, Lindsay Townsend, posted a blog at HAPPILY EVER AFTER, titled ~ Time for a roaring fire ~ Here’s the opening...
“After a rainy and recession-dampened Bonfire Night in my neck of the woods, I began to think wistfully of enormous medieval fireplaces, logs cut from the woods by peasants in grubby tunics, the warm glow of a winter fire.”
Lindsay’s wonderful thoughtful blog triggered in moi something this Big Cat hadn’t known about herself, not at a *here I am* conscious level... just how much the Kougaress’ soul needs to be taken care of with fire. She needs a fireplace or maybe lots of candles. Yes, having a fireplace would mean, not merely lighting the logs and watching them crackle to life... but understanding and taking care of the hearth itself, a time-consuming chore that could become a ritual, one that also feeds the soul.
How much have we lost in our *rush here, rush there* lives where we often forego these kinds of rituals, the ones that nourish us and our soul?
It appears to the Kougar that we have lost an awareness of our soul, and that most of us are running on empty because we didn’t fill up our souls. Succinctly, we don’t know how. In fact, most of us were never taught. Instinctually, we will try to care for our sublime organ, the Soul, and many individuals are naturally good at it... yet, what do we need to know and learn about caring for our precious souls?Here’s a poem, mentioned in Lindsay’s blog, that captivated the Kougaress, in part, because it speaks simplistically to the soul ~The Firewood PoemBeechwood fires are bright and clear

It was the sound, their eyes. Finally, I imagined being inside a huge whirlwind... being able to blow them away from me, or kill them with the force of the winds.”
Zeke mentally scowled at his own ‘sense’ of what had occurred. “Is that when you woke up, darlin’?” She shook her head ‘no’. “I escaped that area, those bee men. But then, I was flying above this enormous dry riverbed. There were cliff caves and suddenly these four bee men streaked toward me. They were bigger, stronger and looked a whole lot meaner. I don’t know where this came from, but I imagined a rainstorm pouring down on them... maybe because it’s been raining. Anyway, they couldn’t fly and dropped out of the sky.” She drew in a shaky breath.

The Large Hadron Collider malfunctioned (again) after a passing bird dropped a piece of bread into the machine, causing it to overheat. ~ http://coasttocoastam.com ~
Is this absurd, or not, in the realm of all that’s Absurd, darling Big Cats?Omy, gorgeous and giddy KitKats, the sunset which arrives too early now for the Kougar, blazed luminous and gossamer in the skies of the tame prairie. The most intense color around sinking Sol beautifully flamed the pond, seen now because so much of the leaves have fallen. Yep, the tree limbs are mostly bare, especially since wind gusts spent a lot of the day removing their leaves.

Maa-oww, the Kougaress spent part of the day rectifying an error she made on the jumpdrive she uses to back up her files. Ms. Not so Smart didn’t realize the difference between a shortcut to her Documents and actually putting the file on the jumpdrive. So between all her books, WIPS, Pics and other stuff, it took awhile to delete and get it all on there... tail-twisted hopefully.

Hold onto your socks, all my pretty kitties, chaos is going to rule the world for awhile in larger ways than what is going on currently. Yeppers, the hottest peppers, it’s about to be a fiercely bumpy ride. Part of the reason for this will be those who battle against the dark powers-that-be for the sake of their health, now endangered, not only by the so-called Health Care bill, but by what is called Codex Alimentarius due to go into effect on December 31st ~ a nasty world-government piece of work that appears angelic, but could make could make Hitler’s regime look saintly.
How many of you remember the old Mel Gibson commercial where he’s raided at his home for possessing Vitamin C? That’s what we’re all facing in the simplest terms. It means individuals like moi won’t be able to get or afford those kinds of supplements, like Vitamin C, that save our lives and maintain our health.
Did you know that there are already insurance companies saying that to get insurance you will be required to get the flu shot and any vaccine they designate as required, a death sentence for many of us, or worse. Not only that, there are health care providers and hospitals already instituting this policy. Walk in with a broken arm, nope, you won’t be treated. Yep, they are receiving wheelbarrows full of money to give flu shots.
This Big Cat has a feeling those who truly value their health, and their right to choose what health care they receive, are going to stand up and not take it.
Will rotten tomatoes make a come back?
Personally, for moi, a health conscious community located in the South American country of Ecuador, is looking tempting as a plump turkey. Too bad, there ain’t no way to get there, unless walk-on-the-water miracles occur.~~~~~~

Do you know that area?” His gaze intense, her cowboy husband paused before nodding. “It’s south of here, about five hundred and fifty miles. What happened, Sylva?” After squirming a bit, she continued. “I saw these three large structures that looked like enormous bee hives. They were dull brown in color. I couldn’t believe it at first, when I saw men that looked like bees flying directly toward me.” She burst another large breath in and out. “They were buzzing, too.”
Zeke surely didn’t like the sound of what he’d heard, so far. “Buzzing?” She sighed raggedly. “Not the same as bees, deeper... louder, I suppose because they were the size of humans. Oh god, their bodies... they were lumpy, rounded, but obviously human.” She halted, quivering, and Zeke stroked his wife’s arm, figuring to let her finish at her own pace. “I flew away from them as fast as I could. But, they surrounded me at one point. They had antenna and their eyes... their eyes were horrible... metallic facets, a dirty dark gray. Their buzzing became a hypnotic sound.”

Kwintus ~ Francesca Prescott and her daughter, Olivia’s dressage horse... isn’t he a beauty? They’re over at THE PINK BLOG.Evening meows, my Gorgeous KitKats, ever try to analyze your dreams? Even understand them? Truthfully, the Kougar is lousy at it, even though she’s studied and attempted to get whatever messages are being given. The key being ‘whatever’ the message is... no, it’s just a mishmash of symbols this Big Cat rarely has a clue about... however, she has been somewhat successful at interpreting the dreams of others.
Tail-twitching with frustration here... what does it mean if you catch a non-poisonous and rather attractive snake to take to some manner of public get together... anyway in the odd course of things that occur, the snake ends up biting your finger at least three times nastily... still, you’re not poisoned and the wounds don’t end up being serious... but, to protect yourself, you end up severing the snake’s head... how that happened exactly who knows? Yet, Mr. Snake is still alive, just without his head...
More interestingly, the Kougar had a shopping mission to accomplish today... upon her return, one small hawk swooped down in front of her van and flew over to the other field... the Kougaress sent her/him good loving vibes and appreciation. Not a quarter of a mile later another small hawk soared in front moi’s windshield, flying across the road... such a beauty! The Kougress sent her/him a smooch and gratitude.
The two birds... since the weather is warm, a lovely autumn day, moi had a back window open about three inches... well, when she went back to that room... oops, two small birdies gotten in... so open window wide while cooing to them and open the back door while still talking to them to calm the little darlings down. Their flock friends called to them too, and they winged out the window.
Shamanic message? Fly in pairs? Wing onward, despite all circumstances... of purring course, that’s life ~ winging onward... how about, fly before those who will appreciate you and don’t fly into the wrong window... if you do, hope that someone will care enough to free you.
Gee, the Kougar would like to be free of MS Word. It’s like trying to drive a clunky car that won’t maneuver worth a darn as compared to a superb handling sports car. ~~~~~~

That, and he was sexually irresistible to her. “They were coming after me.” Her breath quickened as she recalled her nightmare. “Just a few at first. Then they started swarming out of the hives... it was horrible.” Surprised when his body tightened and he drew back a bit to view her face better, she met his gaze fully. “Sylva, tell me exactly what you saw in your dream. It could be important.”
Zeke felt like five alarm chili inside. There’d been rumors for years about a group of mad scientists who were intent on creating human-like workers that could fly and operate from a hive mind. They may have succeeded or were about to succeed. “Important?” she asked, her gaze bewildered. “Sylva,” he drew them both into a more comfortable position, “tell me what happened. Everything.” She nodded. “I was flying over desert terrain... do you want the details?” Zeke nodded once. “White sand, but not deep like the Sahara. There were islands of vegetation, brush, succulents like chaparral, an odd cactus...”

A pretty autumn day on the tame prairie and the Kougar is always grateful for the extraordinary and exquisite sunsets.
Lots of yawns, and few yowls... that’s been this day, my lovely Big Kittens... And Yahoo has not cooperated worth a clawing damn, so no promo chatting for this Big Cat author at Novel Sisterhood, where it was Siren-BookStrand day.
Nope, nothing purring-profound occurs to the Kougar... it’s probably world overload... so much going on it’s simply too much to deal with on a daily basis... yowls!!!
Moi did get some penning done on one of her WIPs and likes the direction it’s going. A trussed up hero who doesn’t want to be a sex prisoner, but wants the woman he sees... a heroine who is a galactic warrioress, tough down to her toes, who thinks he’s a gift from her cousin.

Part 312 ~Sylva stretched her arms upwards, leapt up and began to fly over an arid landscape. Some small part of her knew she dreamed, yet the sensations felt all too real as she sailed weightless in the air. The whitish sand seemed endless, only broken by small areas of scrub bush, succulent plants and a strange type of red-rimmed cactus she knew she’d never seen before. Soaring higher and higher toward the azure sky, she kept her gaze on the ground. Three round-shaped huts out in the middle of nowhere caught her attention. Flying lower, she noticed they resembled conical beehives.
Zeke stirred, feeling the morning sun strike his eyelids. That was usually his signal to start the day, especially if there was a long day’s work ahead. The sleep-warm curves of his Sylva settled him again. Smiling, he cuddled her closer. She’d rolled around facing him and now she instinctively snuggled against him. “Darlin’,” he murmured. After nuzzling her mussed satiny hair, he dropped his head on the pillow. He’d just entered a light sleep when he heard her moan, then say, “No, no,” as if she was being chased by villains. “Sylva,” he called to her. “No,” she screamed.

Oh, darling Big Kittens, the winds of change are upon us, so it feels to the Kougaress. The Good Winds battle the Bad Winds in an epic tornadic war that hits us all in one way or another. Even if your house isn’t directly struck, your neighbor’s is, or sections of your community have been demolished by the beastly weather. And it goes on and on.~~~
Ah, yes, the Kougar is penning away on her WIPs, despite not being part of the exceptionally popular NaNo... or write a 50,000 word novel during the month of November... certainly a marvelous idea and a great opportunity to write that novel you’ve been dying to get to, or simply get your bumpkis in gear.
Sadly, this Big Cat author’s idea on how to help her leg heal faster and complete BRANDED BY THE TEXANS didn’t work out... yet. It might never work. For one thing having dial-up and no modem is a problem. And, yes, if a UPS modem does the job, gee, everything on flashdrive can’t be used because stupid MS Word won’t recognize Word Perfect, even when it’s a .doc file.
Yowl-truthfully, moi despises MS Word, the way it’s setup and all the hype to buy this and that... and the fact that it feels like a damn leg trap. Hell, monkeys could create a simpler, easier to use program that doesn’t treat the user like a kindergartner... plus, if enough bananas were offered, yeah, that’s it... the monkeys could create a program that is rewarding to use rather than a punishment from Satan.
Yep and sinister meows, moi wishes one of Mr. Bill’s malaria vaccine mosquitos would bite him. You all can speculate on the end results.
Not to mention it would take fifteen hours or more to download any useful program. Not to mention you have to use an external CD/DVD thingie... yeppers, pass the deadly peppers... it’s all about money, money, money and getting it from you by hook or crook... not a good product at a good price.
Okay, if moi was tech savvy, yeah, she could probably overcome all this crap... maybe, she would have known better... but she’s not and desperation can cause mistakes, expensive mistakes... le sigh...~~~~~~

Love horses... meet romance author, Francesca’s Kwintus ~A Horse with a HeartFalling in LoveHe was coming down the long side of the arena the first time I saw him. Big and bay and muscular, he had an elegant, easy walk and a confident, somewhat debonair allure. His broad forehead and kind, golden eyes were enhanced by a neatly plaited forelock. He wasn't a particularly big horse, but he was round, compact and well-proportioned, and his thick, strong neck was shown to advantage by a set of perfect plaits. His tail was thick, long and glossy. But what struck me most about Kwintus the first time I saw him was the perfectly symmetrical heart-shaped white mark on his forehead. Okay; geometrically speaking, the white mark is actually more of a diamond shape. But to me it will always look like a heart, probably because I fell in love with this horse the moment I laid eyes on him. He had something special; a charisma, a presence, a gentle and endearing "cuteness" that made me feel happy. I glanced at Olivia, my fifteen-year-old daughter, hoping she felt the same way. I knew my eyes were sparkling, but were hers?

Sylva surfaced, telling herself to remember. She might be able to use dream travel as a way to visit her Earth. Zeke still held her, his embrace warm, but looser. Shifting her position a bit against his better-than-paradise body, she listened to the slashing rain and the shouts of thunder in the distance. She listened to her cowboy’s rhythmic breathing. She’d never felt happier. Before drowsiness could take over, thoughts crowded her mind about her new life. Setting them aside, she intentionally blanked her mind. There was no use trying to think now. Not when she was still so tired.
Zeke moved restlessly inside his dream, searching for those who hunted his Sylva for her psychic ability. Flash pictures of those he knew were connected to the Secret Circle and others he didn’t know rose up before his gaze like shooting targets in an advanced training session. Next came a review of everything that had occurred, especially with the Long Walker. Within his unconscious mind, Zeke realized that somehow the Long Walker was the key to his protection of his wife. Feeling her stir, then slip back into slumber, he let himself remain asleep. His dreams shifted to his ranch.

A warmer autumn day, my Big Kittens... so the clock has fallen back as in what time it is. The utter stupidity of this practice reminds the Kougaress of busy work at school. Just something to keep everyone occupied while the world spins off course and the looming dictatorship arrives.
What happened to being governed by those we actually vote for? Instead, massive layers of bureaucrats are taking over more and more with their so-called policies... policies no one has voted on or for. Policies are being called laws when they’re not actually on the books as laws. There are individuals being arrested, more ad more each day, on policy rather than on the law. Currently, being arrested is being used as a form of intimidation and punishment, not as a way to discover the truth and bring about justice.
So, this is the Kougar’s sacred declaration... She is a sovereign being. She is a sovereign woman. She is a sovereign individual, only unto the One Creator where her inalienable rights originate.
She IS NOT a citizen of any form of government, any country, or of the world. She will not recognize any manner of immoral code or law that breaks the Divine Law of Love.~~~
Oh, oops, moi did not mean to take that tack, but roaring-there it is.

Now ~ FIRST! just for the big cool cats ~Happy Courtship on another EarthX-Serial Flash in Two Hundred ~ Sylva and Zeke’s story continues...Part 310 ~Sylva resisted going to sleep, despite her total exhaustion. Her cowboy husband felt way too good, the way he held her and the way she could nestle against him. Still, she drifted off fast. Even the constant rumbles of thunder, that reminded her of a giant grumbling sky god, couldn’t keep her awake. Darkness claimed her and soon her dreams began. A mishmash of memories from her recent life, before arriving on this Earth, catapulted before her mind’s eye. For lucid moments, she wondered if she could dream travel between the two Earths, if she could visit those she loved.
Zeke settled his head on the pillow, pleasurably inhaling the fragrances of his wife. As she drifted into slumber, her scent altered subtly. The continuing ferocity of the storm concerned him, since usually thunderstorms of this nature blew in, then blew out rapidly. Or, a rainstorm would set in and drench the thirsty land, but not this booming growl. Not the ongoing flashes of lightning. Still, no real damage was being done that he could tell. They were safe, warm and dry. With gratitude surging through him for his bride, Zeke kissed his Sylva’s shoulder and let sleep overcome him.

Flash Fiction Sunday at the Liquid Silver SEx blog, it was ~ Behind the Mask ~ with
Jeanne Barrack ~ FLASH FICTION: “What if the costume was real?”Yep and some penning pep, here’s moi’s Mask Flash ~Peacock Moon SorceressI avoid looking at my reflection in the shop’s window. Why torment myself? In my book aging is just plain stupid. Still, I catch a glimpse of an elaborately feathered mask, stopping. Gorgeous doesn’t describe it’s beauty. ‘Peacock Moon Sorceress’, I read. “Yes,” I whisper in agreement. My pulse quickens as I continue staring. I hear the shop door’s bell and glance over. It’s a man costumed as a devil, a damn good-looking man, his sinew and muscle in all the right places. He’s fiery red from head to toe. I can’t help wondering if his costume has a forked tail.
“Come on in,” he invites with a devilish smile. “I don’t bite, at least, not like a vampire.”
I smile. I can’t help it. Besides, his manner is engaging and the woman I still am comes out to play with him. “Oh, I bet you do.” I flirt with words. “But, no thank you. I have no place to wear it.”
“You can wear it for me. No one has tried it on yet. The woman who created it will be so disappointed.”
“No one?”
He shakes his head, an alpha movement that has me mesmerized for a moment. I stare.
“You’ll be the first.” He widens the door invitingly.
Why not? I tell myself. What can it hurt? Unless he does bite... “I doubt I’m the first,” I teasingly say as I move past him inside. Heady from his masculine smell, I feel somewhat disoriented, as if I’m walking on clouds.
“No.” I hear his smoky voice behind me. “However, you’ll be the last.”
Before I can reply, or even turn around, he’s holding the mask before my gaze. “It’s so bewitching,” I murmur. My feet are rooted to the floor.
“Yes, bewitching. Come, let’s go over to the mirror.”
“Mirrors are no longer my friends.” Acid edges my tone, despite the weird tingly sense that for some reason, ‘devil man’ finds me attractive. I put it down to my over-active imagination. I’m just an aging boomer who desperately desires to feel beautiful.
With the gentle urging of his fingertips on my shoulder, I move toward a gleaming full-length mirror. Everything I’ve heard about the mystical powers of mirrors zooms through my mind. “Bonfire incense?” I ask, the potent fragrance filling my nostrils.
“Hellfire incense,” he darkly rasps. His fingers stroke from my shoulder as I stand before the mirror.
Swiftly, he places the mask before my face. “Please,” he intones like I imagine a wizard would, “put it on.”
I am aware only of the mask, it’s stunning colors, the elegant and ephemeral sweep of the feathers. I’ll never have this chance again. “Do you have a tail?” I ask. “I mean does your costume have a tail?”
“Put on the mask and I’ll show you,” he tempts like the devil himself.
The reflection of his smile in the mirror is my undoing. Worse, his dark blazing eyes match. Both are sexy, and an enticement that promises extreme passion.
I take hold of the mask, then press it to my face. Amazingly, it remains in place as I reach to secure it. “Oh-my-god,” I mutter. Inside the mirror, a scene takes shape as if I’ve turned on my TV. Men and women in opulent costumes dance with each other at a masquerade ball. Magnificent candle-lit chandeliers illuminate them. I gasp at the sheer splendor.
“Shall we dance?”
I whirl around, surprised by feel of a gown. Devil man holds his glistening forked tail in a cavalier manner, his arm presented to me. Suddenly, glorious strains of music surround us.

We are thrilled to have placed in the final ten among over 148 entries. The voting will continue through October 31st and the winning entry will be read by an editor from MIRA publishing.
The book, currently under the working title, The Fall of the Black Phoenix, is coming along nicely. It features zombies, werewolves, vampires, and most of all angels and demons. We’re making our characters walk a tightrope of suspense, action, adventure, and sizzling erotic scenarios as they do battle in the urban gutters of Vancouver, the heavens and beyond!
